Bundles are a way better value proposition than sub services
I used to sub to gamepass PC and PS+ back in the vita era. It was always in the back of my head that these games on gamepass will go away at some point with little warning. So putting a ridiculously long game like dq11 on gamepass is useless to me. I’m not gonna start a 90 hour game and feel...www.neogaf.com
Edit: already posted
I'm going to miss my Humble Bundles they did monthly.
Yeah, I just feel this will be next. Or at least, as we know it.Humble Games published games. Don't think Humble Bundle is affected by this.
I find the whole concept of an indie publisher to be a bit odd though. I rarely see a lot in terms of genuine marketing for small indie games. I know discoverability is a huge issue, but they kind of seem like a pointless middleman for games this small. Even Devolver is acting like they're barely making it sometimes lately. Annapurna is crushing it though.Geez, they've been doing some great work in the indie scene for the past several years. Just over the last year or so I've bought 4-5 games published by them (Signalis, Prodeus, Forager, Unpacking and probably more).

I guess you weren't kiddingBennyBlanco
Yeah, I saw some people correct that up above after posting that lol. I didn't realize.Humble Games is their publishing business, unrelated to Humble Bundle other than featuring the games and their Humble Vault thing.
99% of indie devs have zero clue on how to market their games so these indie publishing labels are very much needed imo.I find the whole concept of an indie publisher to be a bit odd though. Yeah, that's probably true. I just have honestly never seen any marketing. But some of these games are so small maybe they just need help getting shit on the stores, having contacts, etc. I guess I could see it.99% of indie devs have zero clue on how to market their games so these indie publishing labels are very much needed imo.
Besides that, they usually also assist with getting the game localized (this is especially important for Japanese indie devs so they can access Western markets). They might also fund or assist with ports to other platforms, since most indies only launch on PC, either via Steam or itch.io.Yeah, that's probably true. Yeah just uploading your game to Steam isn't going to cut it anymore.99% of indie devs have zero clue on how to market their games so these indie publishing labels are very much needed imo.
Yep. Saw a whole business course on this with something like the following premise:Yeah just uploading your game to Steam isn't going to cut it anymore.
Yeah I look at it as like indie music labels finding these rough diamonds who cant manage out of a paper bag full of weed. Making the game and actually marketing it /selling it is a different beast.99% of indie devs have zero clue on how to market their games so these indie publishing labels are very much needed imo.
This forum is slowly turning into opposite ResetERA.
The Ghost of Song dev who had their game published by Humble Games had only positive things to say about them.
As a side note, they were also one of the few indie publishers that were still doing retail physical releases instead of relying on companies like LRG, iam8bit, etc.
