Don't be such a drama queen.

Most of the 'evils' on this planet are not caused by religion and especially not Christianity.
I can be a drama queen if I want but let's face it, religion ain't exactly been a boon to humanity and I'm not just talking about American "Christian" conservatives, I'm talking Isis, 1 village hating another village cause they worship a fucking rock instead of the tree, the whole fucking lot of em but mainly those hideous creatures that call themselves evangelicals... It actually warms my heart knowing they're all being taking for a ride in their prosperity ministries by some truly evil people...

Anyways it's fucking Christmas and Jesus wants us all to buy shit, turn into a 2wk alcoholic over the holidays and build Lego sets with our kids, well that's what Irish Jesus wants me to do and I respect Irish Jesus wishes

I’m not the Grinch. It’s these scene-stealing heathens using His birthday.

Remember, he’s the reason for the season.
Yes, that reason is the sun disappearing and then reemerging again. Christ has fuck all to do with it, but when thos christian lunatics invaded pagan countries they had a hard time kiøling off their traditions, so they assimilated them instead, pretending that it was about the birth of christ when it really wasn't.

So the irony of it all is that when you're celebrating christmas, you're actually partaking in a pagan heathen ritual.

Then some big ass comet decided to fuck their shit up by hitting a glacier and wash their progress away, so the plebs and goat herders that survived had to rebuild but got to claim they built the stuff they just found an re-inhabited.

What? Is this a parody post?

i prefer to say Happy Christmas over Merry Christmas. not because of religion...i just think it sounds better. I don't like the word Merry. we say happy birthday. happy new year. so i'm saying happy christmas. i ain't saying Merry birthday! or Merry new year!

christmas is a joke. i agree that most people don't give a rats ass about the religious side of it. it's just mindless consumerism and greed. people only want things and money. as i get older i feel less and less interested in it. i'm happy to just spend some time with my family, have a meal together, and relax. maybe watch some christmas movies and eat too much chocolate. it's not so much about the presents. maybe when i was a kid.

Praise the Sun should be our new Christmas greeting

"Hey you, yes you there, are you religious?"
"..what?"
"What are you, deaf? Are you religious?"
"...not really, no"
"Well pleasant holiday to you then!"

...

"And you? What about you?
"Yes, I am?"
"What god do you worship?"
"....what?"
"What are you, deaf?"
"I uh... Jesus?"
"Merry Christmas to you and only you!"

I think that Christmas for most people is not a religious holiday, but a holiday to spend time with family. I love Christmas even though I'm an agnostic. And I love it because I can see my family, relax, and of course I love the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations, they are incredible.

As a hardcore atheist and believer that religion should be solely a private matter - fuck yeah I will say Merry Christmas, it is damn obvious what it is connected to. Honestly now.

What's the problem, I missed something? And I am from the the reddest part of this map:

Also the "atheistic" movements is the most stupid movements on the entire internet.

If you don't care about religion, well, stop caring.

Meh. The people that associate Christmas with religion are in the minority these days, and that's including the people that pretend to be religious because they have to. The modern world just doesn't give a fuck about Jesus/religion, for the most part.

I wish merry christmas to everyone. Its the cultural and religious event that I celebrate. If someone dislikes it, I suppose they can complain about it online.

Everyone that makes assertions about the nature of the reality should be open to criticism as long as they are intelectually honest.

Ps.- Those graphs are bogus, normally, people don´t want to admit to others that they are different.

That graph is very real and people are open about it, are you from Europe? Because here the opinions wildly differs from country to country. Case in point we and Poland...

Having rockets and internet is a good measurement stick

But in order to get those, a certain grade of civilization had to be reached first. Those ancient civilizations are considered advanced in good part because they were the first to generate a stable enviroment for people to create, and even invent religions.

Some people are open about it, I think it is a minority. I´m not from Europe but I know catholics that have been there and can´t believe how empty the churches are across major cities.

That is because religion is less important to Europeans, not because we're not open about it. Most people who call themselves christians go to church for weddings, baptisms and funerals, and for a minority of those, christmas.

We don't care

Now maybe but growing up even In the 80's it was engrained into us from you from adults in Ireland. Most ignored it once they had the choice but still respect it and those who do practice.

I wish Christmas wasn't such a big deal. As OP said, it means nothing to most people.

I, for one, welcome the absence of merry christmas wishing.
