To put a long story short, both of the hard drives in my main PC started having problems a few days ago. One wouldn't boot Windows, so I tried installing Windows on the other only to run into more errors. In the midst of this, the file index for one of the partitions became corrupted and unreadable.
I'm able to see all of the data from this partition via GetDataBack, as it just had to rebuild the index, but I have to purchase the software for it to restore my files.
And that's $80.
For the past day, I've been trying to decide if the data there is worth $80. I can get most of it back, yea, but there's some stuff on there (like my iTunes library) that would take days to rebuild, and even then, it'd never be 100% perfect. It'd be easier if the library consisted of my entire music collection, as I could just click and drag to rebuild it (the music is on another drive), but only half of the stuff is in my library, sometimes just a song or two from an album or artist. It took me months to trim the library down to the "good stuff", and the thought of going through that again isn't too appealing. But then again, neither is spending $80.
Hopefully that all makes sense.
What do you think?
