I Can't Get Nintendo Wi-Fi To Work

I've been trying to get my DS online for the last two days, and I can't seem to get it to work. It keeps giving me this message:

"Error Code: 52101
Connected to access point but unable to connect to the server. Confirm connection settings and internet availability."

I've got a Linksys BEFW1154 and I know I'm connected to the internet. I've tried turning off my firewall, and that's done nothing. What could the problem be?

Your (presumably) software firewall isn't a factor, the DS isn't using your computer at all to establish the connection. The best thing to do is double-check your security settings (e.g., make sure the WEP key matches precisely), or, for a moment, just turn them off and then bring them back one item at a time.

With the latter, at least then you'd know what's causing the problem.

Turn off what? Thanks for your help, I'm terrible at this.

The security features. WEP, SSID broadcast, etc. Then get your DS connected, disconnect, add one security feature, reconnect, wash, rinse, repeat.

I got the same error as you. The reason for that was that I have to use a proxy server and it was preventing the DS from connecting to the interntet. I don't think it's possible to set the proxy server configuration in the DS...

However I have another connection which is giving me not problems at all. First I got this same error message again but the reason for that was that I hadn't registered the DS's MAC address in the "allowed" list in the router. In my router this is set under Wireless -> Access Control

I hope this helps.

The way I got mine to work was because I had changed some minor setting a long time ago from the defaults to another setting. The interesting thing is my PSP likes this setting one way and the DS the other. At any rate, go into Advanced and then the Wireless portion. There is a setting for Basic Rate. Change that from whatever it is now to the other option and see if that fixes it. It did for me. I think the number you want is 1-2 and it has "(default)" next to it.

How do I access the wireless portion?

Go into the web GUI of the router, click on where it says Advanced up in the upper right corner, and then click on the tab that says Wireless. You'll see a setting for Basic Rate there.
