I feel like I have less hair every day

Don't know if this will be any consolation at all but I had thick shiny black hair as a child but noticed recession around my temples when I was 18.

My Father is completely bald so I naturally panicked and assumed I'd be bald before I hit 25.

I'm 30 now, I still have hair but I still shave it almost to the skin (grade 1 or 2 all over). I absolutely love it. Women like it and I genuinely think I look awesome.

When I was younger I used to pull my hair back to give myself an idea of how I'd look bald and I absolutely hated it, thought I looked ugly and that short hair would nver suit me but you will eventually get used to it and learn to love it. If you're really sure that you're balding just start cutting your hair short and get used to it.

Quality of life goes up a lot when you just shave it off. Use a hair clipper without attachment to easily get it down to semi-clean shaven look, no stress. If you want to get a shiny dome and use a razor later on that's ok, but just taking it down to 0mm with a clipper is enough to come across as someone with a clean, natural look. No one will think about it then, whereas they probably will if you try to soldier on and hide it.

Super glad I seem to have inherited the hair of my mothers grandfather. 29 now and no hair loss. I'm actually growing long (shoulder long) hair for the first time in my life and fucking love it. 6 more months to go and I should have the length I want.

Feel really bad for you OP. I always dreaded the thought of losing my hair. Especially because I have a scar from a car accident on my forehead, so I would look awefull when bald.

I'm 23 and Bald.

Put it off for years then finally put some loud hardcore punk on and got my girlfriend to shave my head. Never looked back since.

Big beards go well with a bald head. Grow one!

Again, I feel like some on GAF don't live in the actual world. I have several friends who are bald or noticeably balding. They're doing fine romantically.

Probably those saying it have lost confidence since going bald so think the same applies to everyone in a similar position.

Going bald isn't the end of the world.

I'm 34 now.

Not me, just an image I found on Google, but my hairline is getting like this:

I'm 22, and it's really getting me down. Would this medication potentially help the hair to regrow, or does it only prevent further loss?
Well that is pretty receded but fin still could help

XALfg1D.jpg

Look at my templr, my hairline was going to recede in the same pattern as the pic you posted but I watched and caught it early enough to make sure it was only at a nw2, and that topical solution is strong enough, 3x the amount of minoxidil in Rogaine, to grow back a little in those temples, and thicken up my hairline pretty noticeably

i'm not losing hair but every day a white hair or 10 and sometimes grey hair appears.

from the crown down the middle it's basically white hair.

Nothing is wrong with minoxidil, its a proven regrowth agent for lots of people, but it doesnt interfere with DHT which is a large part of MPB. I use a 15% minoxidil 0.1 finasteride 5% AA topical and take generic fin which costs 5 bucks. I started this as soon as I caught a wiff of mpb starting and my hair is the shit now

Finasterid has huge side effects, i took it for a few days and my heart was racing like never before

I've been on a fin topical 6 months and oral fin 2 months. Literally zero side effects. You only took it for a few days so I don't see how that's much of a time to concretely say it has huge side effects for sure.

That's a small percentage of men anyways, and I've known people that have effects and coincidentally have been reading the horror stories about it.

I have to admit I have read sooo many stories about it it seems like everyone has those side effects thats why I stopped immediatly (of course there are barely any positive ones because why would you write it if everything is fine).

I have a 5mg pill that I cut in 4, maybe I should use a 1mg and cut that in 4(=0,25), would that help reduce the side effects?

Nothing bad on jumping the finasteride / dutasteride (mixed with minoxidil and and ketokonazole shampoo) train. It's not like you have to give up and accept the baldness because everyone says it. Every time I read a thread like this it's like trying to counter hair loss equals to losing the mancard.

And side effects are usually overblown. Libido comes back once you adjust (if a drop ever happens), and the risk of depression is fairly minor.

Yes exactly what you said that the positive stories are out living life and not on a forum specifically about finasteride having terrible side effects. Same thing happens when you look on the Internet about antidepressants and a lot of negative experiences pop up.

As for cutting up 1mg to 4 - from what I understand 1mg lowers dht at like a 95% so I'm not sure .25 would do. Maybe try taking .25 1 week, .50 the next, .75 next, and the full 1mg on the 4th week to get your blood levels slowly up.

Finasteride at the standard dosage of 1 mg cuts DHT by roughly 70%, and a higher dosage would not be more effective. If you want to go to the next level and achieve 90-95%, 0'5 mg dutasteride is the answer.

Alright I still have the 5 mg pills so after i cut it its 1.25, so thats fine as well right? Im just very worried about post finasterid syndrome which I have read a lot about, maybe I should just startin using regaine instead?

I'm with you op. I'm 33 here and my hairline is slowly but surely receding. I'm ugly as fuck to begin with but at least I still have hair. When that goes I'll just be ugly as fuck lol. It's all good though, just a part of life.

Not in need of next level yet, my hair is stupid thick now, but with topical fin going and oral fin on top of that along with 15%minoxidil, azelaic acid and progesterone, I got a pretty sweet regimen

Regain is 5 minoxidil, lots of men get results but it doesn't effect the underlying mechanism of mpb.

I think if you embrace what you naturally got it kind of doesn't matter what's happening. Everyone is different and if you accept that, being unique will be part of your charm.

That said, I have one white hair on my beard...just one. It's noticeable to no one but me, but I wish it would do some sort of salt and pepper thing, but I fear it may end up being a streak or something, which may be cool on the top of your head, but not a beard.

At least it's happening late for you. Nothing worse than being late teens/early twenties and balding.

The only men I know who have taken this were bodybuilders doing steroids to prevent gynecomastia. I used to take it as part of hormonal replacement therapy, but it would put my libido in overdrive (and increase my testosterone in blood by 20 ng/dl, putting me at the high end of the female range. Not fun at all).

It helps improving growth rate, but if the DHT keeps eating the follicles, the final destination is still the same.

You talking about fin or progesterone. Either way it's topical so there hasn't been any side effects

That's what I meant it can thicken up your hair as well but it's still going to progress if DHT isn't addressed

Are there any alternatives instead of using finasterid to stop DHT?

I could recommend an orchiectomy, but the adrenal T would probably still be there. After all, only a small amount of T is converted to dht but enough to wreak havoc.

Just trolling. I've seen everything, even topical espironolactone, but pretty much most shit is anakr oil. It's produced at an hormonal level, so topic stuff won't do crap.

I mean the progesterone. Reduces the E, so for people with excess of T from steroids it will prevent the body converting it to E to balance.

There are but they don't work :p

Try added a keyoconazle shampoo to your shampoo regimen. You can find 2% Nizoral on ebay and the 2 is a prescription strength one. Twice a week maybe 3, and I have read studies of that helping alongside minoxidil or fin or both

Yeah there are some desperate men on hairlosstalk that try all sorts of crazy shit, very toxic forum though so avoid it. I do remember some adenosine studies helping hair loss but this was tested on Japanese women

The 'bald+beard' look is definitely not for me,i go to the gym but i don'have that kind of muscles or face to pull it off.
I'm almost 27 but i have a baby face(almost androginous) and i would look terrible with a shaved head.
My hair is still the same,it hasn't changed since my teenage days but my dad is bald so it's still possible.

I've been going bald since my early 20s. I used to shave my head but I never liked the look. I don't know if my current look is any better, but everyone I'm close to has never said I should go back to shaving it all off.

I was pretty sure I was going bald back when I was 20-21, but now I'm not 100% sure. Growing up, people who cut my hair would always say, "Weird. You have a lot of hair, but the hair itself is kinda thin." When I was 19, I started noticing my scalp a little more when I got out of the shower, and that my middle-part wasn't really working anymore (which is honestly probably for the best - it didn't look great haha). So I started combing my hair from the side.

Then, about a year later, it felt like the thinning on top of my scalp was getting a little more noticeable. Again, mostly when I got out of the shower and my hair was more clumpy from being wet, but definitely enough for me to notice if I looked at it closely in the mirror. I figured I was just going bald, and that I should accept it. I figured I'd have until my mid-20s, and then I'd just shave it all off. It helped that I grew up knowing people in my family who went bald in their 20s/30s, so I kinda knew what to expect.

Well, I'm 27 now, and still not bald. It thinned out a bit more until I was like 23/24, but hasn't at all since then. It's more pronounced when I don't get a haircut for more than 6-7 weeks, or again, when I get out of the shower. Otherwise, it looks fine. It also helps that I put some heavyweight pomade in there every few days, which thickens the hair strands and makes it look a little more full. Here's a recent picture:

I still figure I'll go completely bald at one point, but I've also learned to stop worrying about it. Either I will or I won't. If I do, I'll just shave it off. Or maybe if I've got the cash to spare and my girlfriend pouts enough, I'll get hairplugs haha.

OP, whilst I agree if you're balding badly you should just shave it, I implore you to visit a doctor if your hair has become finer.

My hair did this last year and receded rapidly. I went to the doctors as it didn't fit my family's hair history whatsoever. Found out I had a major protein deficiency as I had been running about 10k a week and not eating enough protein to replenish my systems. Since changing my diet, my hair has slowly started to improve.

Lol some of you guys are ridiculous in these hairloss threads. Bunch of you guys have thick, full heads of hair and all you have is a little natural recession from aging a bit.

There are some of us who have ACTUAL hairloss and it looks terrible. You'll be able to tell if you're going bald.....trust me.

Michael Jordan looked better bald. But you probably ain't no Jordan.

I feel curry would look better with a shave though.

Go for it

My hair thinned a lot in the front about 8 years ago. Never went bald there yet. Must have stopped..

I don't understand
