It can do so many cool and awesome things, but I hate it. Maybe because It's unpreditable on some browsers, maybe because I crash course through it everytime I need to do something in it at work.. I don't know. I just have some grudge against it, can anyone help me?

I took an oracle sponsored class at my high school last year which taught me some SQL and Java. Dunno if that'll help at all. ^_^

Java and Javascript are two totally different things.
I know.

I do have SOME Javascript experience.

And by some, I mean writing an alert. :P

Are you sure Javascript is really neccesary? Because quite often it's not. If you hate Javascript that much, can't you use a Java applet, something server-side or if it's presentation-only, CSS?

I know a little Javascript. And I earn my rent/tuition coding webapps so I don't mind looking into it if I don't know the answer straight away.

Try coding a template system (in PHP), that can create on the fly and with lots of possible configuration some javascript code to be used in a shopping cart. Then we'll talk about hating javascript :D
One of the nastiest thing in javascript (except the whole browser stuff) is that each type of form element has to be treated differently.

I'm using Javascript, HTML, and SQL in a program I'm writing for Statistics Canada for the census. I'm 18 :lol and I have my own office :lol. Also.... I'm learning this all myself as I go along. Patterns are fun o.0.

And it's funny... why?

Well I didn't picture myself with an office at 18... For me, this is a completely different environment than retail (Staples).

The nice thing about retail versus an office is that, at the very least, the bullshit is out in the open in retail.

Yeah Javascript sucks to code. Most languages, you can look at, understand then think "oh, so i should be able to do this slightly differently" and it works, in Javascript you change one thing and everything immeadiatly breaks and then doesnt work again ever no matter how hard you try to change it back. Until your boss comes into the room, hits refresh once and it magically works perfectly, then you password protect the file so no one can ever change it again.

Thats my experience anyway.

I'm definatly sure Javascript is needed when I use it. Also all the dynamic effects and AJAX are just really cool, but then I think "Fuck....javascript".

Ya then treated differently through different browsers.
