I hate UPS. (Lost item)

We (my dad) mailed back to buy.com the ER6i headphones I bought for $90, for a refund using UPS. Just to clarify, I gave my dad the money when I was over his house when I bought them and he ordered them for me online and had them sent to my house using his credit card. That was quite a while ago. About a month later I went back to his house and gave him the headphones back to return to buy.com because they were extremely uncomfortable to me.

So he does, and he uses UPS. Goes through all the proper channels getting the RMA# or whatever...

Two weeks later he calls and says the credit didn't get put back on their card. He called buy.com and they said they didn't recieve them.

So UPS lost the headphones and I'm out $90.

Is there anything we can do to get the headphones back or to get the money back?

What about the tracking information? UPS is pretty piss poor about reimbursing you for damaged items, but it's much harder for them to defend "It's lost."

Find out if UPS has it on record that it was ever delivered, and if so, find out to who. I've had a similar incident and it takes a lot of digging actually. You're probably going to find that some idiot on one side or the other just messed up and forgot all about it. But you can get reimbursed one way or the other, just be a stickler and if anyone gives you lip, ask to talk to someone above them.

Honestly FUCK UPS. I hope that company goes down one day, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

I take it you didn't put insurance on the 'phones?

No, I was just returning them anyway and I don't have any idea how to ensure anything. :/

Hopefully the option was presented to you at least when you were sending the package away. I dunno, I've never actually sent anything via UPS, only received assuming I even had that kinda luck :lol

It was my dad who sent it. :/

I don't even know if he used UPS or USPS. He said he used UPS but I don't think he knows. He might think that dropping something off at the post office = UPS which I don't think it is.

I'm getting a stick of RAM in today via UPS (air), and I'm hoping to God it's not fucked. If I could've shipped via FedEx I would have *gladly* paid it. UPS sucks fucking *ass*.

Apparently they want a tracking number, and they never gave him a tracking number.

Did you ever figure out if he shipped it USPS or UPS? The former normally doesn't give you a tracking number unless you pay for it; With UPS, the tracking number is on the form you keep when you're filling out the address label.

I'm pretty angry with the postal service right now too...I have five packages that are on their way to my house, some for two weeks, and they haven't arrived yet.

i once was supposed to be around for ups to deliver a laptop. i was home, but the crafty bastard kept finding a way to not let me know he was coming. one time i was literally at the piano which is right by our front door, pretty much all day, and the bastard still managed to evade me. anyways i had to go pick up my package at their processing center, which was like a 30 minute drive away.

The USPS won't even consider a package lost until two weeks go by, so if you have tracking/reference numbers, now's the time to give them a call. I once had something they lose arrive about a month after I'd ordered it, but thankfully Amazon's lost package policy is much more reasonable and had a replacement at my door via (free) UPS 2-day air by the end of the second week.

Yeah Jesus, I purposely stayed home ALL DAY and the bastard didn't even ring the door. I was playing TimeSplitters 2 and never heard anyone, but then there was a note on the door. WTF?!?

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
UPS sucks.

I was scheduled to have something delivered yesterday, so I made sure I would be home. Waited all day, occasionally checking the online tracking info, until it updated at 4:48; THE RECEIVER WAS UNAVAILABLE TO SIGN ON THE 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. A 2ND DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE. Went downstairs and checked; nothing, not even an InfoNotice. Oh well, I'll get it tomorrow, I guess.

Left work at 1:00 today (even though I could have worked OT). Checked the tracking info, no attempt was made, so I'm still good. Hours pass. Until, at 5:37; THE RECEIVER WAS UNAVAILABLE TO SIGN ON THE 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. A 2ND DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE. Once again, NO INFONOTICE. WTF. I was here BOTH days WHILE the attempts were made! This asshole didn't ring my buzzer TWO DAYS in a row! He probably didn't even drive down my street.

I even called UPS to complain and got a reasonably understanding woman. She paged the driver and asked him what was up and he said he "definitely rang the buzzer". See, the thing is, my buzzer is connected to my land line, so when anyone uses it, it leaves an entry on my caller ID. Yeah. Asshole.

where did you send the package from?

$100 insurance is free with UPS, so you should be covered. they also require tracking numbers with every package. if your old man did his job then he should still have that tracking number. bring it to UPS' attention.

relax, you'll get your money back. pretty foolish to say you hate UPS when you haven't even contacted them yet.

Make some more noise, that's bullshit. Call the driver on it and speak to highest person you can. Tell them they're a bunch of lying schmucks. I hate shit like that!
