Any Ace Combat style games for PC or Xbox? I played AC4-5 to death! I need something new :D

no :(

There was this cool looking game from Midway but it got canned. There are many on PS2 though: Dropship, Leathel Skies series, Thunderforce (choppers only), Airforce by Konami, another by Sega (can't remember the name) and more. Check IGN for more info.

I'd be content if Namco simply made the ground level textures and such more realistic, so if you fly over a city, I want that entire city modeled in 3D , tiny sprites for people and tiny cars modeled out of 10 polygons, I want to be able to fly through said city breaking the sound barrier and watch glass fly off of office buildings from the sonic boom sent rocking through the atmosphere. If I fire a missile waywardly through a populated area I want the explosion to send cars shotting into the air , maybe buildings collapsing and such.

To put it simply I want a nicely modeled destruction simulation. Even on the planes this level of destruction would be cool, make each bullet stream cause dents and debri to appear off enemy planes, a direct hit with a missile should randomly trigger a destruction sequence of some kind. So maybe if you hit the engines it goes up in a huge fireball sending blackened bits and pieces towards ground but if you hit the middle of the plane it gets visibly blown in half before it makes a huge fireball.

The same thing would apply for trees and such on mountains, in teh past you could fly right near the ground and the photorealistic illusion was lost somwhere around 800 feet in the air, it became a pixelated mess, so add more shit on the ground, maybe a layer of rendereing that appears if you get really close that isnt' there at 1000 feet, or better yet just make it so you can't get close enough to the ground to mess up the illusion if they can't get it running well enough.

wow! You have quite a bit of imagination. I posted something like this on another forum but didn't present so many ideas.

Anyways the jump from Ace Combat 3 on PSX and Ace Combat 4 on PS2 was big IMO. Lets hope the same happens with the next game :D

I wish we could email this to namco :(

AWESOME thread, Doom_Bringer. Yes I agree, I hope the next Ace Combat looks like that.

^an Ace Combat game on PS3 should beat this^

ok btw, now I am sure you know of the high-resolution, highly anti-aliased screen shots of realtime Ace Combat 5 graphics, right?

I'd expect that PS3 will deliver at least that much image quality, on top of far more complex & impressive graphics.

AC 5 looks sharp on widescreen plus pro scan. PS3 should be close to the CG I posted or atleast I hope it is.

They got close to AC2 CG though! Good job Namco

anymore CG of combat jets, Doom_bringer? and so far, Ive been unsucessful at locating CG of modern aircraft via Google or other search engines. searching under "CG aircraft" or "CG jets" or "prerendered jets" or prerendered combat aircraft (etc) isnt finding much. what are good websites to find this stuff ?

The next Ace Combat should focus even more on the story, and hopefully it'll contain things like a more realistic weapon payload, with mid-mission carrier landing for refueling and ammo refill. It would be a much better story if the conflicts were more large scale to give it a more war-like feel. So far the Ace Combat series feels like a small group of people fighting an invisible war, not that it's a bad thing, but it doesn't get you excited as much as some of better war fps games lately.
