I like guacamole

#1 - You don't buy guacamole, you make guacamole (avocado, lime juice, kosher salt, cilantro, maybe some red onions, maybe some jalapeno, maybe some cotija, maybe some bacon).

This 100%.
Don't buy the store stuff, make your own.

Personally, I do avacado, cumin, chopped jalepeno, salt, pepper, lime juice, cayenne pepper.

And you know the avocado is ripe enough when you can squeeze it out of the skin. Mash with a fork, and add your choice of spices.

Before reading this thread I didn't know some people didn't like cilantro. What's wrong with you people? Guacamole is great, but I can see why some people would be hesitant of trying it. When I was a kid I wouldn't try it because I thought it looked gross.

OP, if you like that premade stuff, your mind will be blown when you make some homemade.

I really don't understand how someone could NOT like guacamole. It's so damn good.

I never really make it but reading that article on the last page, NO LIME. Got it.

This is GOT Food

Probably the best guacamole I've had was at this great, yet very expensive Mexican restaurant in Washington DC. They brought out all the ingredients to your table, put everything together, then mashed it with a mortar and pestle. I can't remember what the place was called for the life of me.

Yeah I've had it that way at a really cheap Mexican restaurant here.

Cilantro is fucking awful, but there's Reason I say that. Apparently there's some gene that you either have or don't have, that makes you like it or not.

Here's a protip for eating a little healthier: I use guac or a ripe avocado as my condiment in sandwiches. Way healther (and tastier, IMO) than mayo with the good fats instead of bad.

I love guac but I can't always eat it. I like the ones that taste "natural". But those overly produced creamy ones that you find in supermarkets are awful.

Indeed. Coriander is how it is said in English, right? Still, awesomesauce ingredient, would employ it extensively at any chance I have. El cilantro mola, chavales.

Coriander is the seed, ground into a spice. Cilantro is the leaf, it's an herb. Same plant, two different uses.

I have never heard of anybody else doing this, but I like to sprinkle sugar on avocados too.

This is how I have always eaten them since I was a kid. Cut in half, sprinkle with sugar and eat with a spoon.

Don't really like avocado in food, sandwiches etc but can tollorate it if its there.

I enjoyed and had no problem with guacamole until I was around 24. One night I had some chips & guac and I felt like my throat was getting tighter and it was harder to breathe. I took an allergy pill and it didn't get any worse, eventually went away after a few hours. Since then I've been petrified to eat anything with avocado in it.

However I had had small traces of it on accident a few times. Maybe there's some unexpected guac in a burrito I ate, or a piece of avocado in some sushi, etc. I have been completely fine during these times.

I want to eat guac/avocado because it's delicious, and my last few brushes haven't prompted any allergic reactions. I suppose it's better to be safe and just not eat it.

You know what else has flavor? Poop. Poop has flavor. Cilantro=poop.

I work in a Mexican restaraunt and can confirm that people feel very strongly about cilantro. I love it, a lot of people hate it.

To people who don't like it, it generally tastes like soap.

If it hasn't already been said, even the best packaged guac is much worse than the homemade stuff. get two ripe (semi-firm to the touch, with just a bit of give) avos, mash w/ lime juice, cumin, salt and pepper to taste. fresh chopped cilantro. chopped grape tomatoes or kumatoes if you like. SO good.

Check the stem.

Hat tip to cumin mention. Not enough of that itt.

The weird part to me about guacamole is how much hot peppers you need to give it any spice. We usually end up putting like i habaneros in guacamole made from 3 avocados.
