Hello follks.

I am in the market for a new laptop. I kinda want an Asus Zenbook, but I’m open to any and all recommendations. I know I want a laptop with an OLED screen. As to what I’m going to be using it for: Listening to music on Spotify, using streaming apps to watch movies and TV, and photo editing. My price range is around $800-$900. Also, is 8GB of ram going to be enough for me? If not then I need at least 16.

Have you looked into Mac Book Airs? I was in the market for a laptop last year and decided to get one and love it for the lighter work of streaming and internet. Office apps work fine for my needs. I don’t do photo editing but understand they have all the programs you need. You can probably get a model or two back to reduce the price.

Oh, and I didn’t think I’d be able to get the MacBook Air yet, but Amazon is having g a sale on brand new 2022 Airs. They have a coupon you can use to get $150 off. I used it and got me a MBA in Midnight. That bad boy will be here Tuesday and I’m happy to finally own a MBA I’m a big Apple fanboy (Got 2 iPad Pro snd a iPhone 13 Pro.)

What RAM/Storage did you get?

I have a 15" M3 Air with 16GB/512GB. Amazing laptop.

I used a touch screen Sony laptop, Mac book pro, Lenovo, HP, and an Alienware all these things make you think about portability, the gaming experience, battery life, so laptops are just a matter of what do you like better, do you want to show off editing skills in photoshop with Mac? Yeah its about $1000 for a decent M2 macbook Air. I have an old dual core intel version 16GB ram and 512GB storage.

I'm looking to replace this 2018 and haven't decided weather I want the Pro or Air. I like the idea of a Pro for the screen but Airs are so nice and portable.

But I'd want one with at least 16GB Ram and the 1TB storage. So prices go up quickly.

I've got a MacBook Pro which does not have an oled screen, but my TV and phone are both oled. My laptop screen looks great. I wouldn't get caught up on display technology as long as reviews say that the laptop you're looking at has a high quality screen.

while i generally agree that for him the best laptop in the market is the 14 inch air with 512gb ssd, a) it's 1299 without discounts and b) it's not OLED so it doesn't fit neither of this criteria

Cheap and OLED? Only one that comes to mind is Acer Swift Go 14. It's got a 1800p 90 Hz OLED for that Mac-tier 200% perfect scaling and a 1440p webcam. My friend has one, it's the nicest screen I've seen on a laptop. The keyboard was also good, and I'm picky when it comes to keyboards. There are several variations depending on your region. There's an AMD and an Intel version, and the battery size varies too.

Hidden gem IMO because people consider Acer as budget junk (which is true for their cheapest models, which this one isn't). Asus is overrated.

I heard that it gets really hot and the fans kick in a lot, even while not in use. But I could look past both. I had saw that exact laptop earlier and thought it was perfect and the price was excellent. Has your friend mentioned that?
