I have correctly reset my CMOS using the pin method on the mobo, but my pc keeps turning off after a few seconds.

It's probably being used for paging files and/or for sleep/hibernation.Q8D3vil said:i'm missing 20 gb from sdd and i can't locate it from my files.

Unplug everything but ram/vid card (maybe you don't even need a vid card if your cpu has onboard). But anyway, if you have another PSU to test try that.Principe Nero said:I have correctly reset my CMOS using the pin method on the mobo, but my pc keeps turning off after a few seconds.

Have you upgraded the fw on that drive? You might want to use Windows to make an image backup of the drive. Update the fw if need be. Secure erase it. Then restore the image.
@RainyDog You want to spoil yourself with PC gaming. Always best to stay within your budget, but why upgrade if not to blow your dated console out of the water?
This is just my opinion, but the biggest PQ bump with PCs is the move from 1080p from 720p. It provides a lot of "free" anit-aliasing, and your textures will never be worse than consoles.
Rainy Dog said:So PC-GAF, I've been mulling over building a gaming for months and am just about set to jump in. I've got everything else sorted apart from finalising the graphics card I think.
The Radeon 6870 looks to be the best price to performance ratio as far as I can see, and I can currently pick one up for £125 GBP with Deus-Ex and Dirt 3 free. But I honestly don't want to pay over £100 for a GPU so I've been looking at where I can sacrifice. I'm quite happy compromising resolution for better everything else, in fact I'd almost rather do so as I don't want to find it impossible to go back and forth from console gaming after being spoiled by present day PC IQ
So the question is; how much everything else would I gain from playing at 1280x720? What other ATI series card would give me about the same FPS, graphical bells and whistles etc. performance at 720p as say a 6870 at 1080p?
Cheers in advance for any input.
Just to be clear, how did you figure you are missing 20gb? Did you disable paging file and sleep/hibernation. Did you get the space back?Q8D3vil said:unused space.
fuck this shit, its my windows drive so i have to format windows again :/

disabling hibernate gave me 10 gb back, i need to check everything now.knitoe said:Just to be clear, how did you figure you are missing 20gb? Did you disable paging file and sleep/hibernation. Did you get the space back?

Playing at anything than native resolution is a huge drop in IQ, not worth the money you could save.
Giriath_89 said:Thanks for the answers, but I don't really need temp sensors as I'll just be using it to drive and control some or all of my case fans, not the GPU and CPU fans.
I think I'll just buy two or three of these.

I need to know how much I could be spending (in £/pounds) on a good graphics card and also if it is worth upgrading my motherboard so I could use crossfire.
I currently have a 5770 by because my motherboard is quite small it seems I won't be able to fit another graphics card next to the current one.
My Current Specs:
CPU: Q8300 - Intel Core 2 Quad - 2.5 GHz
RAM: 4 GB - (How do I find out if it is DDR2 or DDR3? I bought it in June/July 2010)
Motherboard: Asus P5G41T-M LX2 Series
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (1080p)

New hyper 212. I'm glad I noticed this was coming out next week. Would have been miffed to get the regular one this week, just to see this available the next.
The fan seems to be a Xtraflo, but cannot find any available to purchase :sadface

I'd throw it out the window if I would hear it nowadays, considering that my 5400 Samsung HDDs are currently the only thing audible in my rig
I assume you mean the CM 690 II. But in that case what 80mm slim fans? It's all 120 / 140 mm (front, bottom, top, back, sidepanel). Unless you're talking about that 1 spot on the back behind the motherboard which you should ignore. Especially because you want to route your cables there.

Woody Invincible said:The VGA bracket it comes with has a slot for a fan on it as well. And I like that the case does not have a side vent other than behind the mobo.
drpencilcase said:i'm buliding my new setup with the silverstone raven rv02 and a corsair hydro h80. Because of the peculiarities of the raven I'm not sure how to setup the fans.
According to corsair, I should put the fans blowing outside air into the radiator. But the way the case is designed, the bottom fans will blow in cool air and the top fan (where I was supposed to put the radiator) would blow hot air out.
Does anyone have a similar setup?
Yeah, it's an XtraFlo. They've been using it for a while on the V6GT, and on newer HSFs like the Hyper 612 S/Hyper 612 PWM and GeminII S524, but it's still not widely available for purchase.Woody Invincible said:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

I believe the 80mm GPU fan is standard thickness, but, even with a tightly packed multi-card build, you'd be better served using a 120/140mm fan on the side panel, and/or HDD cage.Woody Invincible said:So I am finally upgrading. I know you're kidding, but that fan (like most Deltas, San Aces, etc.) is way, way beyond the cooling capacity of the Hyper 212.scogoth said:If you really want buy the 212+ and put this 6000rpm fan on it.
Laptops, desktops, and portables can all benefit from it, particularly those that use switchable graphics, or exclusive iGPU output. There's an HDMI bug that it claims to fix.black_vegeta said:So, is this Intel driver update only for folks that don't have dedicated GPU's?
Yeah, but it's OCZ.Krauser Kat said:OCZ Synapse things look sexy as hell. I want a 1 TB with a 64gb ssd cache.
Not having to symlink my steam folder would be really nice.
Unfortunately, your CPU and motherboard are not a good match. In addition, either one of them is going to hold you back, with the board being the biggest hindrance. Not sure your CPU's OC ability warrants the additional investment of another 775 board. The relatively high CPU bus, combined with the low multiplier, an motherboard bus support may leave pin modding off the table for you.ashbash159 said:So I am thinking about upgrading my graphics card in preparation for Battlefield 3.

My god. You have no idea how jealous I am right now. I'm currently running a HD 6950 and planning to buy another one for crossfire, but damn do you have one heavenly rig.Smokey said:Well the new toys arrived today. Just finished putting her together.
Heaven maxed out, at stock 832mhz clock. With one I got 31-33fps and that was overclocked to 900mhz+. During benchmark GPU 1 (top) had a temp of 65c, GPU2 59c. Sitting idle at 41c and 38c respectively.
Really digging the look of the Lightnings. Pics don't do it justice. The black and blue looks sweet with the rest of the system. I'll say with my custom profile fan I have, when these bad boys were running Heaven it was pretty loud. But in a sexy way lol. Knew it was putting in worknerdy.
So they are in and good to go. Haven't hooked up the 3d kit yet. Took more effort than I thought to get it plugged up and the wiring to look ok.
Anyway just wanted to throw a couple of pics up as I was asked to do so when I got the stuff in.
