Nope. The difference is even smaller than different clocks which is already tiny to begin with.

My computer sits on a thick rug currently, I didn't think it would be a good idea to have the psu fan blowing down into it.Hero_of_the_Day_1985 said:Couple questions about some things I see in this picture before I put my computer together. Don't you want the PSU fan facing downward into the vents built into the case? Also, shouldn't the CPU fan be facing the other direction? The box shows the fan blowing the other way and the case fan behind it blowing air out of the case. Which is better? Thanks for clearing this up for me.
Outside of CPU-bound games, not particularly. OC the 955 to at least 3.4-3.6GHz, or 3.8-4.0GHz+, if possible.GuessWho said:I have a amd p2 x4 955 processor,, currently have a 8800gt but looking to upgrade to a 560ti, any bottleneck?
You need a PWM y-splitter, like this one. It's best if the fans are the same, or similar enough, such as RPM range.RukusProvider said:anyone?RukusProvider said:I got another fan for PUSH/Pull on my 212+. However, it's a 4pin and the 2nd CPU pin on my Mobo is a 3pin.
HOw do I setup the second fan so that both run at the same speed?
I don't recall that, actually. Too many sales to keep track of. I know they had some other ridiculous combo deal around launch.Hazaro said:Weird, I just mentioned at work that MicroCenter had those on sale near launch for $150.
Is it $170 even without the special sale still? Pffft.
Anyone buying a PC soon should go ahead and grab that if possible. In store only.

gokieks said:You can use a 4 pin connector to a 3 pin header just fine, but it'll just run at full speed instead of variable. If it's a decently quiet fan though, that doesn't matter much. I think I have both of my 120mm fans on the 212+ running at full speed all the time, and it's barely audible.

so i know the hardrive, the memory and the PSU probably suck but the combo i5 2500 & gtx 560 seems sweet for this price
should I or shan't I?
thx

Here are a good PC in germany:
Core i5-2500K
Gigabyte GeForce GTX560-TI OC 1024 MB DDR5 HDCP
8GB-KIT DDR3 Corsair PC1333 CL
ASUS P8P67 R3, 1155,ATX, DDR3
be quiet! Pure Power 530W
Samsung EcoGreen F4 2000GB
Xigmatek Midgard
Scythe Katana 3
For 750, only good components, a 560 TI OC, 2TB etc.

SalsaShark said:PSU is back. Its quieter than the previous ones but im still getting some noise.
Basically it boils down to this:
- Loud whine when fps go beyond 60 (have to use vsync on a lot of games)
- Loud whine when Turbo Boost kicks in (when it goes from 3.3 to 3.4ghz)
- Whine when using a web browser and scrolling and connecting a wireless 360 pad reciever. Had to disable C3 and C6 report for these particular noises to stop, but because of that now turbo boost goes to 3.4ghz tops instead of 3.7ghz, guess that's not TOO bad.
So far its been the same with 3 different PSUs, so i could rule those out (though part of the whines do come from there), but at the same time i dont think its either the GPU or the CPU considering they both have their own sound related issues going. Guess MOBO it is. Got a replacement for this same model and the issue continues, so could it be model related? (P8P67 LE).
Any other ideas? im already living with it and getting used to it (god bless headphones) but id like to avoid it if possible. Problem is that any sort of machinery is gonna make some electrical noise no matter what, and if you reach a point where you become obsessed nothing's gonna ever please you, haha.
I believe the X is essentially an upgraded 932, so I'd expect it to be at least as good.Leonsito said:If the HAF X is as good as the HAF 932 you are going to be blown away by it.
Corky said:Hey guys I've got an issue that might be software related but I don't know.
So while previewing pictures in windows 7, for example a screenshot from a game the colors and the general image quality looks horrendous as if it's been compressed to hell and back and had every contrast/color level messed with.
But if I upload said picture and just view it from the imagelink, the picture looks like it should, that is great. Anyone have the faintest idea what I'm talking about?
Yeah you need a better airflow setup. Think you need a new case!Smokey said:MOTHERFUCKER
I don't think my FT02 case is going to play nice with my Lightnings. The temps on my top card are much higher than the bottom. I just finished playing The Witcher 2 and the top card was at 94c, and the bottom was at 79. These cards blow air back into the case rather than exhausting out of the back like the reference cards. So I'm guessing the air is getting dumped back into my case and the fans at the bottom of the FT02 are blowing the air back into the cards (my mobo sits at a 90 degree angle). This is with a modest OC (by Lighting Extreme standards) of 910mhz.
Talk about a shitty way to start off the day :/

Or you can sell me that case of yours for dirt cheap and use the money towards a new case.Smokey said:This case was $200+. I refuse.
Won't the 3GB help make the card more future-proof, though?n0n44m said:do you need 3GB? Answer is yes if you game at 2560*1440 resolution or with multiple 1080p+ monitors, but in those cases you'll also probably want to go SLI right away...
for regular 1080p gaming the 1.5GB version is fine
For the moment yes but you will most likely find yourself upgrading to the 600 series when they arrive.AgentWhiskers said:Won't the 3GB help make the card more future-proof, though?
n0n44m said:did you post on overclock.net about this?
just for fun, try turning your case 90 degrees (put something under it to protect the paint) and see what happens
not only can the airflow make a difference, but the actual 90 degree orientation may limit the cooling ability of certain (not all) videocard heatpipe style coolers like those on the Lightnings
I've heard about people seeing Accelero cooled cards going 90+ degrees because the heatpipes stopped working in a FT02/RV02

Well... But... Okay yeah, you're right. 1.5GB, it is. Thanks guys!Marco1 said:For the moment yes but you will most likely find yourself upgrading to the 600 series when they arrive.
Such is the nature of PC gaming no matter how much you try to avoid it.
AgentWhiskers said:Won't the 3GB help make the card more future-proof, though?
n0n44m said:well, personally I'd say that looking at the state of consoles and their limits on most games/game engines these days I doubt 1.5GB is going to limit you any time soon
and by the time it will bottleneck performance a GTX580 will be outdated and inefficient anyway
but that's just my personal opinion![]()
Smokey said:Yeah I did post this over there.
Bolded is what I'm wondering as well. So I'm getting this straight, you want me to basically put the case on it's face so that the cards will be horizontal? Cables will then be sticking straight in the air?
n0n44m said:you might want to unplug something first(I only have 3 cables going in my rig lol)
again, it shouldn't change much because airflow will be largely the same
if you see small gains it could be because of airflow
if you see big gains it *might* be an issue with the 90 degree orientation itself
---
personally, it's not that I don't believe the "wrong airflow" theory, but with those 180mm pushing air to the top between the cards and the ventilated slots of the 580s I would be kinda surprised if that much hot air would continue to stick around ... hell open the sidepanel and aim a table fan at the cards, see what that does to temperatures
