I need to get a new TV this week, but I have no idea what I should get. I need to get something in the $300 range with the best picture possible. Any suggestions? Where are the best places to be looking (B&M)?

I only use and recommend JVC. Ask TV repairmen, and they'll tell you that JVC's are the most reliable brand these days. Plus, after extensive evaluation, they have the best picture and best features at their respective pricepoints. So, go to some store that carries JVC, like Circuit City, Good Guys, Sears, etc.

While we're on the topic, does anyone have any experience with Prima TVs? They're really cheap, which is appealing, but if their quality is poor or the break easily I'll look elsewhere.

Eh, I haven't heard of them, but as they say, you get what you pay for. If you just need a temporary TV or something, then it's probably a good deal. :)

I dunno though, some products are cheap because they're made in China or wherever rather than because they're poor quality. I believe DVD players are often like that, I wondered if this was a similar situation.
