IMy boss has me "designing" the company website. I say "designing", because I really have no say in how it looks. She tells me exactly how she wants everything to look, and I don't have any room to throw in my own ideas.

That being said, I'm trying to make the best looking logo image I can from the requirements I've been given. Here's what I've got it looking like now:
awful.jpg

I know damn well the thing looks pretty awful, hence the file name. Unfortunately, I don't have much leeway with how it can look. She gave me a flyer that she wanted the logo to look like, and I've got to make it as close as I can.

The things on the flyer were:
The gold gradient
Logo on the right
text under logo

Things she wanted in the image:
Text on the left
Those items on the left

The flyer was set up basically the same, but with a different image on the left.

The worst looking part to me is the "All awards and engravings by". It just fuckin sucks. Is there any way anyone can think to make it look any better? I'm very tired and I can't put up with too much more photoshopping tonight, so I can't think of much.

Also, if anyone is interested, here's the design she has me working on:
www.allawardsandengraving.com/newLayout

If you're on 56k, I wouldn't suggest visiting. The images are mostly bmps, as they're the ones I've been making at work in Paint (as we don't have photoshop at work).

is this a "do my homework," "do my favor" or "do my job" thread?

edit: reading comprehension -1, its obviously the latter of the three ;)

really it sounds like if her requirements are met then she will be happy regardless of differences in quality. just use what you have and tweak it later if need be. The layout, and functionality is what you need to nail if a "client" has strong ideas about the design they want.

sometimes you have to be a design prostitute and do what the client wants for the paycheck

Windows 2000 saves jpegs in really shitty quality in Paint.

I'm not asking anyone to photoshop the image I provided. I was looking to see if anyone had a suggestion to get the text on the left to look better.

edit:
I'm pretty appalled that you all seem to think I need someone to do my work for me. I've done what she asked, and it looks like shit. A fresh set of eyes on this shit image that's I've been working on might be able to suggest ad idea that might make the text look better.

Something like "Oh, I think if you changed the color to blue it might look a bit better" is what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for someone to post and edited version of the image I worked on.

Both the logo and site itself are lackluster. Tell your boss that she needs to let you give your input, otherwise the site will suffer.

The business as a whole suffers because of this woman. She's not pleasant to be around, and she doesn't accept anything that isn't exactly how she wants it. Several of us here have each had conversations about this website with her, and she doesn't budge.

Honestly, that looks like shit. It does seem like what she's looking for though. So give it to her and see how she likes it.

If you have the time, create something using your own ideas. There's still a chance that you can change her mind if you've cooked up something spiffy enough.

relax I was just giving you a hard time, I have given you design suggestions before that you used

like I said, unless she is upset with the quality of the image you posted just run with it for now, make tweaks if possible down the road if you are not satisfied, but it appears class is not what she is shooting for.

I know it looks like shit :) It's not something I'd want on my website.

The hardest part of the whole thing for me is that I'm by no means an artist. I'm damn proud of the gold plates I made for the site, as well as the wood grain that tiles properly. I know neither of these images are very good, but they're something I'm proud of.

This logo image though is terrible, and I just have no idea how to make it look much better. If it were up to me, I wouldn't even have an image like that on the main page. I'd rather all text than something shitty like this.
