I played Call of duty for the first time in nearly 10 years! Call of Duty 6 is a cesspool!

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
So I signed up with PC game pass and was downloading all the popular titles. Call of Duty 6 was up there so I figured I would give it a shot for old times sake. I could not believe what I experienced as soon as I booted the game.

*Right Away they are flashing battle passes and other shit to buy in your face: It's not enough for those who paid full price but they got to shove this shit down your throat.
*Huge Colorful banners that are just trying to pitch shit to buy. Even between matches they are shoving shit down your throat
*The Shit they do have for sale is horrendous and seems designed for a teenage boy. For example there is this woke liberal skin with a chick with a pink bob haircut and a nose ring. (Like that is tough?) I then peeked at the price people are paying for this bullshit and it is unreal!

My call of duty history: I am an early cod member. I remember playing the old realistic COD2, Cod 3, and then the great Call of Duty 4 Modern Warefare changed multiplayer forever. I played all the way from COD 4 all the way up to COD Modern Warefare 3. After realizing the game was equivalent to Madden football with just adding a new skin and changing a few guns every year. So I haven't played this franchise in over a decade: I was never a great call of duty player but I was ok. My K/D was over 1 so I was not a hindrance.

My experience yesterday: Now it's been over 10 years and I should of been getting worked. I am playing on the pc with a controller so the mouse/kb crowd and the veterans should of just been destroying me. I played my first game and was top 3 in scoring and then k/d of a 1.5. SO I played another match and not as good but similiar results. Aftrer 2 matches, I was completly bored. After 10 years it's still the same bullshit, kill/respawn/camp/throw random grenade gameplay.

I do not understand hoiw games like COD, Madden,NBA, etc sell great every year when they just recycle the same gamepay over and over and over again. In cases like Madden it is reviewed badly every year but people still flock to buy it. Cod has been the same shit for damn near 20 years and still making billions of dollars. Just bizarre that gamers cry about "innovation" but they are playing and buying the same shit, over and over and over.

the vast majority of cod sales come from casuals, i wouldn't say its the same core people who are wanting innovation.

Yea it's pretty bad. Surprisingly I feel mw3 last year wasn't bad but overall yea it's pretty shit. 2042 still lands for me because even bad bf is better than cod.

I still play but overall I think sledgehammer is the better studio

I've heard the opinion that micro-transactions that are cosmetic only are generally harmless since they're not pay-to-win and don't alter the gameplay. But I'm not so sure about that anymore. Sure, cosmetics don't alter the gameplay from a user perspective, but they can alter the gameplay decisions that the developers make.

What I mean is that when cosmetic microtransactions are implemented in a game, the focus for the developers can sometimes shift away from purely making the best gameplay experience possible and towards making a gameplay and overall user experience that tries as hard a possible to drive people to the in-game store. This can have detrimental effects on the game.

At this point i don't understand why Call of Duty is still popular. Times when Call of Duty was gaming equivalent of Transformers (epic blockbuster) are long go.

Nowadays Call of Duty is like shooter equivalent of FIFA (FC). Also a game that requires 300 gigs of space is such a spit in the face i don't know how anyone could eat this. Also even CoD campaigns are now that exciting since long ago.

A lot of my friends got gamepass to play zombie's with me and we all dropped it in a couple hours to go back to BO3 instead.

Game is made from the ground up the cater to the absolute most casual of casual players and in exchange lost a lot of it's charm and replay value.

Not to mention it just looks butt ugly

Unfortunately it’s pretty fun. But yes you are totally right. The skins are monetization is obnoxious. It’s basically all designed to make you spend more money on nonsense. Thankfully I don’t really care to play as Snoop Dogg smoking a bong.

I'm always amazed how well those games sell. The quality has fallen off hard over the years. Hell, last year was basically a remake of the OG MW2 and it was significantly worse. And Everytime you finished a game you had battle pass and other bs pop up. Fucking brutal

For me, it's turned into a franchise that I buy maybe ever 3 or 4 years. But have even noticed the last couple of games I got, I can't really get into and probably drop after 10 hours

Best one since MW1 (reboot) in my opinion, I find Treyarch is the best out of the three devs on consistency. But yeah fuck battlepasses and Warzone that shit can die.

I tried playing the most recent MW2 last year after a decade away and had the same experience.

I really wish there was a new COD or Halo with the old school sensibilities.

I got it for free from my friend so it will be the first time I play it in like 15 years maybe lol. I only agreed to play zombies though but it has already been a month since then lol. I have no interest in the tdm etc multiplayer though. I keep up with it online through youtubers and stuff of course so I know all the what are suppose to be problems with the game. I'd say they need to add a toggle to turn it off the skins but you know Activision wouldn't like that so that's not happening lol. Why people play Madden? It's an NFL game and the only one around sadly. It's that simple, it doesn't matter how bad it actually is.

I also played CoD for the first time with Bo6 in like 10 years. You can easily ignore all the bullshit and jump straight into the game. It's dumb fun, running around on nuketown or that appartment map and just bombing and gassing everyone and everything, including yourself. I was hooked for like 4 hours straight then uninstalled it and never looked back.

CoD (or FPS, in general) are the only genre that I actually wish I had a console for. I don't like playing kb/m nowadays and I hate having to play with controller against kb/m people (yada yada aim assist, as a casual learning to abuse the aim assist is FAR more challenging than simply pointing at them with your mouse)

IMO it has the best gunplay and movement mechanics of almost any other game on the market, and that's a pretty big deal to me.

You can play thousands of hours of this game without needing to ever visit the store to buy skins, so I don't get that complaint. No one is holding a gun to my head. I can just easily ignore it. Sales promotions between matches...? If there is I'm amazed that I don't notice...

The campaign is great, the zombie mode is great, and I also play a ton of multiplayer.
I mostly play the multiplayer part with a close friend. We're both older gamers, and we just talk shit and have some pure fun.

Overall, it's a great game in my opinion. No wonder why the franchise is popular. It's easy to ignore its flaws. The worst aspect is, no surprise, cheaters, whether it's Cronus cheats or software hacks, it sucks. But it's not like I feel every round is ruined by it, it's mostly Warzone.

I hear you on your main points. Just want to call out that with Skill-Based Matchmaking, you're likely not as OP as you think. They give you the first couple matches as freebies to see where you place and put you up against bots (people that suck).
