It’s easy to forget, but you’re absolutely right.

I enjoyed Super for what it was, but everything feels like post-game content at this point. The real stories have been told in DB through Z, and now it’s just the eternal power creep.

Someone posted a DB thread to talk about the newer manga, which I hadn’t heard of, and I replied saying it sounded like fan fiction. The only thing I think is interesting is that they seem to be moving away from the Vegeta forever chasing Goku cycle and making them take different paths to new power. At least that will be something different.

Still, none of that changes Goku’s character change over time. Toriyama must have just forgotten what Goku was like, as by his own admission he forgot loads of it all.

They did another arc with a power absorbing / person eating character called Moro. Was very much like the Buu saga but now with Ultra Instinct.

Now they've moved into Goku and Vegeta training to be Angels/ God of Destruction.

In both the anime and manga combined, more in the latter where's pretty darn strong and on par with Kefla, they went straight to the point I wanted: he regularly trains again
It was impossible to do worse than in RoF, but still, knowing they need no more excuses to bring him in some good action is really comfortable

On the other way, Goku always had his funny moments, but outside of battles, and very very rarely on the battlefield, for the 99% of its time in battle was a master fighter and strategist, he got serious pretty quickly

Things went to shit when they started turning it into a buffoon 24/7, he went from serious when necessary to always idiot
