Anyone watched Casual that Hulu show? I've heard that it surprisingly good (considering hulu's other original shows) but haven't watched it yet.

For something new I strongly endorse "Scream Queens".

Since you mentioned old shows you have to see the original UK version of "Coupling".

Rather than rattling off my usual list, for a change I'll just glance at my DVD collection and pick out the first accessible thing I see.

Yeah, that'll do. One series, six episodes, utterly hilarious. If you like it you can take on the advanced course of Brass Eye, the similar-but-not-quite followup.

In no order:

- Community
- Arrested Development
- South Park
- Futurama
- Scrubs
- Better Off Ted
- Gintama (if you don't have anything against anime)

I might check out Gintama has long as it's not overly filled with generic anime tropes I see in many other anime.

Arrested Development is easily the funniest show I've ever watched. So much of the humor works on multiple layers that it lends itself really well to repeat viewings.

It's great but dips HARD in the finale. It's more a dramady than a straight up laugh-a-minute comedy but there are some humorous bits every now and then.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Trailer Park Boys - fantastically funny show with sublimely stupid characters. Shame it's only been mentioned once in the thread. Search youtube for "trailer park boys meat dicks" or something like that and watch the clip. Maybe the hardest I've ever laughed at a show.

Party Down - maybe my favorite comedy show of the last decade. Much more grounded humor but it's both very human and incredibly funny. Even more shame that it hasn't been mentioned at all yet. Show is brilliant.

Bored to Death (seasons 1-2) - another one worth checking out. Stars Jason Schartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson. Danson plays maybe the funniest stoner ever. 3rd season is optional, real let-down. Ends on a super weird cliffhanger too.

3rd Rock from the Sun - standard format 90s sitcom, but one of the best ever IMO. John Lithgow is brilliant, and the show has maybe my favorite female sitcom character (Mary Albright played by Jane Curtin).

Upright Citizens Brigade - Probably my favorite sketch-based comedy show ever. From the early 2000s or so. Notable sketches: "Ass Pennies", "In Bed".

Gotta check out some of the classic Adult Swim shows:

Time and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
Tom Goes to the Mayor
Squidbillies
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
Home Movies
Moral Orel
Sealab 2021
Space Ghost Coast to Coast

I don't think Adult Swim is as strong as it was, but when these were all on around the same time, that block of shows was amazing.

It usually makes fun of those.
It takes a bit to get off though (~20 episodes), as the humour is often character tied, so they have to grow on you for the humour to work. If you mak it to and don't laugh at the Naboleon episode (25 I think), drop it.
(there are more and more serious arcs as the show goes forward though).

Arrested Development is easily the funniest show I've ever watched. So much of the humor works on multiple layers that it lends itself really well to repeat viewings.

That is especially true of Season 4 actually. A shame it drag on for a couple of episodes too much.

My favorites:

Parks and Recreation
Community
Key and Peele
Archer

These are good and enjoyable, but I'm rarely laughing out loud with them.

If you want to really fall of your seat laughing the only choice is Impractical Jokers IMO. It's not "good" or "high entertainment", but it's truly funny, which is what the title of this thread is all about.

Is paid Hulu the only way to watch Community? It's the one show I really want to see but haven't been able to find it.

Nathan for You is the greatest comedy show of all time.

If you liked Borat, you'll love it. If not, it might not be for you.

Thanks!

Review and Nathan For You are Comedy Central's greatest contributions in the last decade.

And I second the hell out of this. Review is one of the funniest shows I've seen in years. Nathan for you is amazing as well. Both are super original too. More people need to watch Review since its viewership is low I think.

Absolutely. Reactions on season 4 seem pretty mixed, but I really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people, fans of the original series, that tuned out after the first few episodes. It's a shame because, while it definitely does drag, the payoff is so worth it.

The Inbetweeners UK

Peep Show

Alan Partridge (& Alpha Papa)

Great suggestions; I'd like to add IT crowd to this too and then the list is pretty much perfect. Father Ted is amazing too but I watched it in the 90's as a kid so not sure how much of my love is based on that.

Arrested Development and Parks and Recreation would be right up your alley considering the content you've enjoyed. Particularly Parks and Rec. One of the funniest shows to ever air.

Also, The Office UK is an amazing series if you haven't seen that yet. As much as I love the US Office, I truly think the UK version surpasses it.

Will focus on British (and Irish) shows since everyone else has US stuff covered

Knowing Me Knowing You With Alan Partridge
I'm Alan Partridge
Only Fools And Horses (series 3 or so onward)
Fawlty Towers
Blackadder (series 2 onward)
Father Ted
The Office UK
Extras
Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia (needs mentioning as often as possible)
The Inbetweeners
Bottom (divisive)
Brass Eye (not exactly laugh out loud, but brilliant nonetheless)
The Mighty Boosh (series 1 in particular)
Still Game (accents might be a problem)

Doubt a lot of them are available in the US without importing DVDs or watching illegally, unfortunately.

This is true, if you want a show to make you laugh, this will deliver.

Some great recommendations in this tread.

Even though most have been said:
Nathan For You
Father Ted
Flight of the Conchords
Review
The Eric Andre Show
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job
Check it Out! with Steve Brule
Mooneboy
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Comedy Bang Bang The TV Show
Silicon Valley

Nathan For You and The Eric Andre honestly are probably my favorite things on television currently Both absolutely amazing in what they do.
