I want to move to Flordia.

I admit, considering the bad rep it gets, it seems pretty decent place to live, especially for someone from cold country. Endless beach, palm trees, nice sunset and weather year round. All kinds of crazy stuff seem to happen and it never seems like a dull place. Living in Sweden where people are boring and not much goes around, Florida seems like a perfect place for young people to take the next step. All these years in cold has made me yearn for someplace warm and adventurous.

There's a LOT of old people in Florida.

Overall not a bad place, my father has a place there but doesn't live there, goes there for a week or two so every 2 months or so.

My take:
1. Really hot in summer, like really really hot.
2. Really crowded in winter, many old people come to FL in winter and then go back north.
3. Really flat. Kinda gets to me if I stay there for more than a week.

I can see myself moving down south when I get older, though. Don't think I would like winter when I am old.

Growing up, I spent at least two weeks in Florida every year visiting my grandma and great aunt. Now, my sister, her husband and my parents all live there. It's a hell of a lot better there than Illinois (Chicago is more like Midwest D.C., not at all like the rest of IL).

People always rag on Florida but you can name 20 to 30 far shittier states off the top of your head. The entire Midwest, the Dakotas and the other flyover states, Alabama, Mississippi, etc etc.

A lot of natural beauty year round there. I’m from DC I swear it’s hotter or more swampy in the summer lol

Lived in Central Florida for a little over a decade in the early 2000s. Great place to live and work. Would definitely move back if a job opportunity presented itself. That Tampa/Orlando/Brevard corridor is pretty sweet. Beaches, Craft Beers, strip clubs & rocket launches. … Just no elevation.

I hear you get to party in the city where the heat is on, all night on the beach 'til the break of dawn.

With spelling like that you'd fit right in.

The guy is from Sweden. English is not his native language.

On topic, I too would like to live somewhere with a nice climate. I have an interview next week for a job in the south of France right on the med. They still have winters there (a lot milder), but it is shorts and flip flops from mid March onwards.

Florida is very unique state. We have no winters. It's going to be in the 80's today where I live. Gulf side and panhandle has the best beaches in the US. Central Florida in the middle is all redneck. We have a giant city called The Villages that's just for old people orgies. Tampa side is mostly Midwest retirees. East side is mostly New England. We have some of the best bass fishing in the country, some of the best inshore fishing too. No income tax. Most of central/southern Florida is built for hurricanes so it's fine. It can rain almost every day in the summer, but only for like 15 minutes at a time. It's pretty rare to see a storm last a day let alone several days like I remember growing up in the Midwest.

If you young and looking for a warm weather fun place to live try Austin. Texas beats Florida any day of the week unless you really want to live on the water.

Iowa sure but the rest of the Midwest is pretty cool.

Texas is a arctic wasteland in the winter. Might as well move to Alaska then.

Florida can be pretty different depending on the region.

But you gotta ask yourself, do you like iguanas?

I'm getting tired of wearing a mask. Florida is the one place that doesn't give a shit about Covid. It's looking better and better

the northern section of florida is completely different than the southern section of florida. so it all depends on where you want to go. tampa is a nice place to land

Just remember Florida has 5 seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Fuck Off. Fuck Off can occur any time during the year at random, and makes you go, "Oh fuck off," whenever you open your door.

For example we're currently in Fuck Off right now at 89 degrees.

Ah Florida, another epicentre of Covid-19. Good luck!

I'm from Texas and I'd love to live in Sweden! That's where all the Black Metal bands are lol. Plus, you're right next to equally beautiful countries like Norway, Finland, and you can (probably?) travel to the UK or Netherlands for a vacation. Seems nice. Cold. But nice.

I've visited Florida about 3 times. Twice for Disney/Orlando Universal Studios. Once for Miami and actual beach stuff. Miami pre-COVID was LIT during "spring break". It's a strong place to be if you're a young, college aged person. It's also pleasant if you're retired and want to bathe in the sun all day. So yeah, nice place to vacation for a couple weeks, but I wouldn't want to live there unless I was directly by the beach/city. Overall, there are more insane, crazy "Florida Man" areas in Florida than not. Plus, Dexter-esque crime rates and theft through the roof. It's GTA out there - not the kind of place you want to move to if you're a motorcycle rider.
