I’ve been to Florida maybe 2-3 times, tons of old people, but the weather is pretty good year round, lots of things to do, pretty decent jobs. It’s not California level of diverse, but it’s pretty diverse. The state get a lot of hate but it’s not as bad as people make it out, yeah they got the crazy Florida man/women, but from what I know you won’t really encounter them.

Live in Florida. It sucks here. I rather have variety in the weather instead of being hot, humid af 24/7. Either that or it's raining. Also, it's nothing but flat land. The craziness doesn't happen as much as you think. The news just spreads it more because of our Sunshine laws.

I’ll give some examples as to why South Fl sucks

-Hurricanes
-The disgusting Summer heat and humidity
-No seasons
-Illegals are rampant, can’t drive and most don’t have car insurance so if you get into an accident with one, you’re probably fucked
-Speaking of driving, I hope you’re an aggressive and observant driver because I-95 and busy roads are madhouses
-Cost of living is high (rent for a nice 1/1 is going to be at least 14-1500 a month)

I’ll let you know if some more spring to mind

Florida is huge. You have Pensacola to Key West. Depending on you and where you want to go, come on down.
Florida is booming with popularity and new homes and current homes are worth more and more. Time to come here is now before the entire state gets expensive.

I almost moved there once but the houses were way too small and expensive where I wanted to go.

I'm from Texas and I'd love to live in Sweden! That's where all the Black Metal bands are lol. Plus, you're right next to equally beautiful countries like Norway, Finland, and you can (probably?) travel to the UK or Netherlands for a vacation. Seems nice. Cold. But nice.

I've visited Florida about 3 times. Twice for Disney/Orlando Universal Studios. Once for Miami and actual beach stuff. Miami pre-COVID was LIT during "spring break". It's a strong place to be if you're a young, college aged person. It's also pleasant if you're retired and want to bathe in the sun all day. So yeah, nice place to vacation for a couple weeks, but I wouldn't want to live there unless I was directly by the beach/city. Overall, there are more insane, crazy "Florida Man" areas in Florida than not. Plus, Dexter-esque crime rates and theft through the roof. It's GTA out there - not the kind of place you want to move to if you're a motorcycle rider.
Are walt disney orlando and miami both in florida?!

Lol i've been in florida twice and to this day i never knew that i was there...it was a nice place if i remember well but it was like 20 years ago...

Ah Florida, another epicentre of Covid-19. Good luck!
This topic reminded me of this article:
Florida COVID numbers

Would ya look at that! Number of COVID related deaths is dropping just like everywhere else. Almost like this shit is seasonal. Almost as if you can’t do shit to stop it! Imagine that!

I grew up in Jacksonville, FL. Because of the no-mask thing, I wish I was living there now. I live further up north.

My advice: unless you want to visit the beach every day, then don’t live on the coast- live near it. Cheaper property, cheaper cost of living, no worries about hurricanes.

Don’t live in towns with lots of retirees. Cost of living goes way up.

Invest in Gold Bond. Humidity is insane and you’re going to need to powder your feet and balls like 6 months out of the year.

Property tax is a bitch. Carefully consider this when buying a place.

The rest is Gucci. Florida is a great place to live. No income tax. No cold weather. Lots of fine women everywhere. Flat land makes for easier driving (underrated feature no one seems to mention). Theme parks everywhere. The best restaurants. Damn I miss a good seafood joint. And best of all: No.fucking.lockdown.nonsense.

If my job took me back to Florida after my kids are grown, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I don’t know man not that Florida is not a good choice but going from a cold climate to hot and humid almost all year is kinda of brutal if your not used to the heat.
Good luck

You’ll lose your home to a hurricane but there’s no state tax, great weather year round and everybody is alive. Why punish yourself in cold weather. Yeah Florida is great and it should be mentioned the ol’ goat plays there for the Bucs.

Truth. First year is brutal, then it's just normal and you don't have to worry about the white shit anymore.

Florida is not such a bad place to live its just the lack of proper seasons that is depressing to me and many others I talk to. I just got back from a womnderful trip to Oregon so I could experience equilibrium that I just can't get here.

Moved down to the palm beach area like 6 months ago. I love it. Tons of things to do, tons of boats, awesome environment it’s just great.
Wouldn’t recommend living inland though... things can go downhill very fast.
But just cruising up and down the state on us 1 or a1a is so much fun. Never boring. Quick flights to Mexico or the Bahamas, it’s fantastic. We love it here.

It gave me road rage but this was down Miami to Key West, not up north. Key Largo & South Dade county being the worst of it.

yea drove down from PB to key west a month ago it was terrible once you hit the Miami area and then getting to the keys is awful... we cut the trip up by staying in islamorada for the first night but still was bad.

I think a lot of that is due to the ferries and cruises down to key west not being fully operational and the roads not being built to support that much traffic.

Just remember Florida has 5 seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Fuck Off. Fuck Off can occur any time during the year at random, and makes you go, "Oh fuck off," whenever you open your door.

For example we're currently in Fuck Off right now at 89 degrees.
Update, in the past 2 days we have left Fuck Off, and now it's a pleasant 65 degrees.

I don’t get why 80s and 90s are too hot for some... I just stay hydrated, wear really breathable and loose clothes, and take quick cold showers to hose off a few times a day. It’s never a big deal to me at all.

I admit, considering the bad rep it gets, it seems pretty decent place to live, especially for someone from cold country. Endless beach, palm trees, nice sunset and weather year round. All kinds of crazy stuff seem to happen and it never seems like a dull place. Living in Sweden where people are boring and not much goes around, Florida seems like a perfect place for young people to take the next step. All these years in cold has made me yearn for someplace warm and adventurous.

the problem for young people is that unless you are a doctor or lawyer, there’s a major lack of skilled industries and desirable jobs in Florida.

I'm from Alabama with family in Florida. It's fun to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Fuck. I don't want to live in Alabama either. I'm going north one day to Minneapolis or Chicago.

I grew up in Jacksonville, FL. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. The only thing I miss is the overabundance of swimming pools. Moved to NC. It's still warm most of the time, but there's 4 seasons and mountains and way less people.

Anywhere along the coast and Orlando is great and in pretty good shape economically, culturally, etc. The interior of Florida is, erm, very trashy. Like almost West Virginia bad.

Florida is a good place to lay low or chill out for a few weeks. Great if you like golf. Lots of old people, and the only real culture there is the rural culture, which not everyone can appreciate (to put it nicely). I'm cool with Florida, but any more than a month there and everything just becomes a blur and time seems to move at an unnatural pace.

Quick question for fellow Floridians, is it me or were the seasons more pronounced back in the day. Maybe I'm just getting old but I remember 25-30 yrs ago legit having more tangible seasons

Grew up in Miami, and though it is beautiful, growing there was really challenging for me personally. Was there is the 70s and 80s, and the cultural clash was intense. Daily confrontations. That being said, I would assume it's normalized now.

Visit areas of the state that interest you, and see what you think.

eh, not quite. as the other poster said, orlando for instance is smack in the middle. and plenty of the other towns and cities on the mainland are not "trashy" at all. there are pockets of trashy places in various places around the state, just like any other state.

i think your stereo typing country folk, who live more mainland, as trashy. and, well, you're wrong. a lot of those people have money and are anything but trash. now, come to daytona beach and check out some of the "hoods" in the area if you want to see trashy. thatll be some culture shock for a lot of people. complete with crackheads, hookers and gang bangin lookin mfers.

anyway... i mostly came in here to tell OP to just give us his money and go home. the natives and locals dont want you to stay lol.
