If Nintendo set up a PayPal account where you could send them money, would you?

I would give money to resurrect INFOCOM: a new breed of text only adventures!

I'm serious. I'm wondering if any Nintendo fans here love the company so much that they would spot them some cash in exchange for a good feeling.

Alternative question: are there any companies you'd just send some money to help out? Personally, I'd subsidize the Dragon Quarter team if it meant a followup in the same vein.

I thought it was the Sony's fan's job to give free cash to the company, I mean they do need it. And considering the almost blind fanatical support for a stillborn platform like the PSP with all Xtreme sports and no good games. At least people who support Nintendo actually have good games to play.

I like Nintendo, but I have all the consoles and ironically play mostly PC games too. But when I'm on GAF, the antics pulled by many posters tend to polarize posters, myself included to take sides. Quite frankly, take out posters like Drinky, MAF and youself (see your actions in this post) who constantly take potshots at Nintendo and things will be much better.

Considering you just tried to turn this into a console war thread and taking pot shots at the PSP and then have the gall to name people as sony fanboys you should probably include yourself in the ban list. No one mentioned systems till you and it was a pretty entertaining thread for the crazies. The blind leading the blind, and try reading the thread, he was serious and many nintendo and sega fans responded seriously that they WOULD donate money.

Just pointing out the obvious. JackFrost's mention that Nintendo fans love the company so much isn't really accurate. It's mostly a reaction to the potshots taken at the company and its products which is way beyond criticism. The same can be said for fans of anything liking a company very much when its under constant attack from other posters. Are you going to make excuses for MAF and Drinky's behavior too? two posters which should have been banned at least a ten times in the last six months.

I also mentioned that GAF tends to polarize posters and forces them to choose sides. Which is also true. I pointed out I enjoy all games, and play mostly PC games, but I like Nintendo games especially which gets me to pick their side only when I'm on GAF.

It's convenient that you ignore those two points and only comment on the third point, which actually is a nice illustration of how GAF can polarize people. I wish I hadn't included it and detracted from my other two points, but we're only human, but it illustrates what I'm trying to say anyways.

My problem was that you tried to troll the thread with obvious potshots against the PSP and then go on too say others should be banned for the exact same thing you just did. Especially when up to that point no one ever started to troll like that or turn it into a console argument. Everyone has opinions and its up to the mods to decide what is taking it too far or not. To somehow act like you are above all that, and ignore the people that responded to the thread quite seriously made you pretty transparent.

Let me take a guess, you took offense that people actually notice that Nintendo (in fact Sega from the looks of it too) fans are a zealot bunch that take themselves, the company and brand too seriously and then a thread comes along that proves it and you felt the need to try and derail and destract that? If i'm right you don't have to tell me though. Do it mentally or donate through the paypal account.

Ok. There's this clever system whereby people who believe a company has a reasonable chance of success in the future can invest money into it in exchange for a share in future profits.

IT'S CALLED STOCKS. Go buy some.

But I never said I'm above all that. I made 2 points +1 flame. If you seriously think what I did is equivalent to what the 'other posters' with powers get away with, then you might as well recommend that this forum be shut down. flames happen everywhere and is what makes the 10 page threads. Heck, you're flaming me now.

People will defend what they like when it's under attack. That was my main point.

I then intentionally flamed Sony, which I know Jack is partial to to get a response and prove my point that when a company's product is under attack, the circle the wagon effect comes into play and it can be said similarly that Sony fans should also donate to Sony because they love the company. I think that you just proved my point.

Actually, Jack flamed me once for making a minor negative comment about Square-Enix. He loves Square-Enix, of course, he didn't bother to check that I am a Squeenix fan too. That proves my point again.

Not at all. I was responding to Jack's OP post and ignored the rest. I didn't take offense, I disagree with his premise, which is actually proving to be quite true given how you've taken to my flame.

I'm not saying I'm above it all, I'm asserting equivalence of all factions.

All videogame companies have their zealots. This very board has been over this topic before every day for years I'm sure...

It is strange I guess. You don't see Kodak fanboys. Or Paramount / 20th century Fox fanboys. (Or do you?)

Anyway, there's a whole spectrum of fandom. A lot of people here are all too eager to demean someone's opinion or argument by pidgeon holing them as some kind of extreme radical fanatacists. Some people are just enthusiastic about people and companies that have a good track record for great product.

But you weren't responding to his post, you took it as an offense to Nintendo fans and decided to troll the thread, make a fanboyish pot shot at a console, then try to turn it all into some standing on a soapbox revelation moment and crusade against some people that have made you mad in the past. Fine you had it, you happy now?

Don't make excuses for the fanboys. They deserve to be dragged out into the street and shot for making gaming embarrassing to the real gamers out there.

If Nintendo wanted to pee on your face, would you let them?

If your father was killed when you were young and you found out that Nintendo was the killer, would you seek revenge?

If, in order to acquire a Nintendo Revolution, you had to strangle your spouse to death, would you?

If Nintendo kicked you in the balls, punched you in the face, and made you smell it's butt, UNLESS you swore fealty to them, would you?

If Nintendo was an ugly kid who wanted to go to the prom but nobody liked them, and you knew you would feel guilty if you didn't take pity and ask them, even though going to the prom with Nintendo would mean you'd be stigmatized amongst your classmates, would you?

Let's say Nintendo were blind, deaf, and old, and while wandering across the street a sports car comes out of nowhere and starts speeding towards them, and in a flash you realize that the only way to save Nintendo's life is to push them out of the way and get run over in their place. Would you?

Naw, forget those stupid questions. Here's a better one: what kind of masochist idiot GIVES AWAY FREE MONEY to a for-profit company that is so inept at pleasing the market that it requires charitable donations in order to stay alive?

(Also, if you're feeling so fucking "charitable," what does donating money accomplish that buying Nintendo products does not?)

All of you people buying up Nintendo's rehashes on newer systems (NES -> EReader (and the classics line on GBA) | SNES -> GBA | N64 -> DS) have been essentially giving them free money for years. :p

That must give you such a "lift" in life, good for you.

Why would I Paypal money to Nintendo? I'm not a fucking charity. :)
If they want my money, they better make games that I give a shit about (like Daigassou! :lol ).

If there's one company I'd give money to though, it'd be Atlus Japan. Maybe write a cheque for Kazuma Kaneko and R&D1.

I'd donate some money for a new grim fandango or monkey island.

but actually if it ever came down to it. I don't think I really would, these companies already have a ton of my money, especially when I could be donating money to some other relief effort or to help the poor, i'd buy the games though

I think you may have just created a whole new email scam!

Dear fellowed American compatriot and game luver,

I am Reggie Fill Aims and I kick ass, take names, and raise money for more Nintendo games. Earlier this year, I was take hostage at Sony headquarter where me family could not contact me and I and Nintendo lost fortune. Please, give me your bank account number plus+ paypal me cash so I can escape to develop Mario Party 8. I will transfer stolen gems from Sony account to yours once transacation take place! Hookshot me up with some cash! This is no joke!

Best Wishes.

Mr. Regggginald Fill Aims, Nintendo Founder

Funny. I was wondering if, since I'm on a freelancer's meager salary, Nintendo would float me a few bucks. I would certainly be glad to reinvest some of that money purchasing Mario Baseball and the new Advance Wars.

I'm not big on granting charity to rich companies or people, regardless of how much I might love them or their product. *shakes head*

Here is a little something I made up.

This is something much more important to Nintendo then money right now.

I wouldn't send money to any company, not even my favorite-SEGA. Some of you need to do better things with your cash you know.
