If PlayStation is successful at selling their own Fight Stick what Arcade type games would you like to see make a comeback or be created?

Luckily we already have the 2D arcade style beat'em ups coming back already but for the most part they are all small retro style projects ( Nothing wrong with that) but in a situation where Sony has a product to sale they will most definitely try to keep the wheel rolling after Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls.

We know Streets of Rage Revolution is coming ( Supposedly 😭) hopefully Capcom will bring a new Final Fight .

Maybe this new 2.5D God of War game is part of the Arcade push.

Fighting Games will be the bread and butter but I'll actually like to see games like Paperboy , The Simpsons arcade & a new Ms Pac-Man .

PS The Great Reset is happening

Sony is really perplexing with their hardware accessories.

What you'd normally want to do here is put out a decent product at an affordable price to build up the market. Kind of what they did with the Pulse Elites. The problem there is that the quality of the accessory was really bad despite the purchase of Audeze who I believe developed it and it seems to have been rushed to market.

So it seems like Sony's goal isn't really growing the market here, but competing with similarly priced and spec'd accessories but just having the air of being official around it.

You see that with the dual sense edge vs say the RUF controllers.

If Sony really cared here there would be two models the one they revealed and the leverless pad, 16 button configuration.

I just want Bandai Namco to give me ports of all the Tekken games but especially Tekken Tag Tournament.

don't arcade sticks already exist for all platforms?
Yes, but I think what he's getting at is that now that PlayStation has an official 1st party offering that maybe they would want to get more titles out in order to sell more.

Good ones are really expensive on top of that you factor in

  • Not all of them have a wireless option (ultra low latency)
  • Not all of them have configurable gates
  • Not all of them can wake up a PS5 (not sure if any can)
The NACON Daija Arcade Fight Stick is the official fight stick of EVO, so I wonder if Sony can make the project defiant stick cheaper than 250.

Sony is going to have to really surprise to make an impact with this.

They arent interesting in investing in this, they just want their cut of thia accessory market.

There's several hundred games that already exist and available to play physically and digitally (across all platforms) that play great with an arcade stick, fighting games, shmups, brawlers, etc. Would never use one wireless though.

I hear what you're saying, and it would be a great thing, but Sony has made a whole sub-system (PSVR2) and has, for all intents and purposes, stopped supporting it (they were half-assed with it in the beginning, in my opinion).

That said, if Sony produces their own fight stick, I'm in, because I'm an idiot.

Yes but I believe Sega was the last big console/ software maker who had an initiative to actually make games with the Arcade in mind.

I'm saying that if this Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls game manages to sell PlayStation Arcade Sticks Sony will push for more games that will sell the hardware. The hardcore fighting crowd will most likely go for other fighting sticks but an official PS fighting stick & more games will reach a different market.

The market is actually being flooded with these smaller arcade like games now.

sor will not be on playstation, sorry
So Sega thought 😭

There is a full roster of fighting games on PS5. The joystick selection is kind of mediocre but I also don't expect Sony to sell a lot of these.

And this is an add-on for that. I highly doubt they made the stick and then went looking for games to fund for it.
What are you even talking about?

You just said " They arent interesting in investing in this"

But they clearly did by funding a Marvel fighting game & this controller that's using PlayStation Link

Day 1 but for me since I was looking into fight sticks actually. Can someone explain to me why this trypophobia inducing device exists.

Hitbox it's like a keyboard for fighters they remember what to press so it's second nature to them

Dunno about trypophobia, but my anatidaephobia is acting up.
The sticks exists because moving a stick is too slow, with that? You can do a left/right input in milliseconds. I imagine Tekken players want that.

Some SONY funded shmups/beat em ups/run n guns' by underrated Asian studios like Shitagake Games, Siter Skain, G.Rev, Terrarin Games, Picorrine Soft, LKK Game, and many more. So much underground talent with actual passion.

You can hit 2 inputs simultaneously.

They funded a fighting game and then came up with a high margin peripheral that can be used with it and multiple other fighting games already available on the system that people are already buying 3rd party fight sticks for.
I mean they call it a fight stick rather than an arcade stick for a reason.
To think this signals a shift towards a whole slate of arcade games is reaching.

Powerstone. With Sony's help I hope for arcade comeback. I miss playing arcade in the malls.
Powerstone is the most underrated fighting game currently. We sorely need remakes from the 2 games. For me it's the best fighting game that happened since Soul Calibur 1 (I always found Smash bros games annoying to play). Both games locked on Dreamcast. Yes I am aware of the PSP ports of Powerstone.

And yes the first Soul Calibur running on DC and played with the DC controller is still unmatched.

If they're successful at selling their own fight sticks, they'll make a few bucks on fight sticks. End of report.

I really want to try one of these type of controllers. It looks like it shouldn't work, but I guess it does.

So you're just here to run argue 😂

The question is if it's successful what games would you want to see.

These arcade style games are already taking over but they are mostly small projects but we do have Streets of Rage Revolution coming from Sega & a rumored God Of War game coming .

I clearly said that Fighting Games will be the bread and butter

Capcom already has released its arcade gems, so Namco and Sega are the next ones to shake off the old days!

P.S. Also SNK!

I don't understand this "if it's successful" business. There already are a ton of fighting games on PS5, basically every major franchise accounted for, a ton of arcade compilations, a ton of arcade-style games. Like dozens of them at least. It's successful now.

It's interesting Sony is releasing an arcade stick five years into the PS5's launch, but I think you're reading too much into it.

I mean if selling the controller is successful for Sony like DS Edge & Portal where they are making money on the hardware sales not having to do fire sales so they will want it to continue selling & push for more content to sell the hardware & vice versa.

I fell like the stick market is robust, with tons of companies selling them and good quality models for as cheap as $50.

Can Sony solve the twin stick issue, incorporate motion controls, or put force feedback into the sticks or buttons?

Probably not, because they're using the same off the shelf components that everyone else is.

I would love to see a MAME emulator machine with the stick as the system, a small fold old screen, and the ability to hook up to analog or digital monitors.

I know there are Raspberry Pi kits for this, but I want one for sale complete for less than $200.
