If you could upgrade ONE game...

If you could upgrade ONE game from previous generations to be playable on this gen, what would you choose?

I was recently playing FF6 and it made me think of this. I can't imagine how amazing that game would be if it were brought up to date. Imagine that SNES music done in a full score, with all those war scenes done completely. Voiceovers would be badass, too, and they could do some awesome shit with Kefka. The seige of Doma would rule, as would seeing the Espers lay waste to Vector.

Man, it would just rule.

What games would you guys have updated if you could only choose one?

(I'm not saying this is the best previous generation game... but its definitely a good example of a game that came wayyy before its time.)

Cant say i am appreciative of fanboy cum fests such as this, but i do agree that ff6 redone with today's technology would be fucking amazing.

Well, first off, i'd un-make Twin Snakes, just because of the incredibly shitty job SK did with it.

I'd probably say either Chrono Trigger or Fallout though.

System Shock 2.

I love the game and have played through it countless times, but the thought of playing it once more with visuals beyond Doom 3 is very exciting.

FF6 has been cloned/imitated by so many other games, I don't even think it would have the same effect on me.

You almost have to redefine 2d gaming. There is a Treasure (pun intended) trove of games from the past that could use the power of todays gaming and still retain its 2d roots/mechanics and sell millions of copies.

Bionic Commando
(to a much lesser extent) Kid Icarus

Also a Pokemon MMOG. It's the biggest no-brainer in the history of gaming. It's like having the secret to nuclear fusion and not using it.

Super Mario Bros.

1. High-def artwork in 720p
2. Incredibly detailed animations and backgrounds.
3. Use 3d techniques to add a "3d movie" effect, i.e. blocks flying out towards the player when Mario bashes a block of bricks.
4. Modern, high-quality remixes of classic tunes.

A new single player Ultima game that's done right.

But with Ultima firmly in the grasps of EA now, it'll be hard to ever get another one that has that feel of walking around in a huge world again.

Despite Resident Evil being my favourite of the series, Resident Evil 2 with Resident Evil 4 play mechanics would be pant wettingly good and would probably benefit more since RE1 has already had a remake.

it would be everyone's interest that SEQUELS get made. Not remakes.

This remake trend sucks eggs

NiGHTS is always the first game that comes to mind when approached with this question. Twinkle Star Sprites would've been a close second, but the update to it was at E3! :D

No doubt, but this thread ain't about sequels. And I daresay remakes have their place, providing it adds to the game rather than destroying it.

ShenMue...because there were some graphical flaws, and there could have been more content.

Jet Set Radio...Cell-Shading on Next-Gen could be damn awesome.

Tower of Druaga.

Ok, I was kidding.

How about Return of Ishtar.

Or Valkyrie no Densetsu.
