If you wanted to collect autographs of legendary gaming devs… what would you even try to get them to sign?

I don’t even know HOW you go about actually getting devs TO autograph anything, but it was just something I was thinking about. Shigeru Miyamoto is 72 years old now, and has likely had a direct impact on the lives of a lot of folks here, and it just dawned on me that meeting him or at the very least getting an autograph would honestly be kind of a “bucket list” sort of thing.

Honestly though, other legendary devs like Eiji Aunoma(sp?), Keiji Inafune, Yuji Naka (maybe, uhh, a bit harder than others to get an autograph atm…), Koji Igarashi, Hideki Kamiya, John Carmack, and Chris Metzen — just the ones off the top to my head — I would honestly love to find some way to get their autographs somehow.

But hell, what would you even get such a varied list of folks to sign, if you even COULD? Obviously you wouldn’t ask them to sign games they hadn’t worked on. Would you just try to get a little notebook and gather their signatures separately? Some kind of poster? I mean, Smash Ultimate would be pretty fitting to get a LOT of varied signatures, but certainly has a couple of omissions that wouldn’t quite fit.

For that matter, any of you guys ever collect signatures? Any tips, if you’re not someone well connected in the industry or anything like that?

I had my original MGS signed by Kojima in 2007. Didn't get it myself. Sent my copy to a friend in Berlin and he had it signed during Gamescom. Apparently got a smile out of the man himself because at that time everyone was handing him MGS3 to sign and only my friend the true classic.

Aside from that I'd only love to have Mikami sign my original RE Director's Cut from 97 but I doubt I'll ever get the chance for that.

I admire favourite devs but I don’t like doing stuff like getting autographs like fan girl, I support them by buying the games they make.

Wants protagonists to make his peepee soft
Sakaguchi and Horii to sign Chrono Trigger. That would be the ultimate achievement for me

I've been twice in TGS, only meet Kojima once. but again, I'm no fan of him ( .__.)

I think if you can get them to sign an original cart or the box the game came in, that is what would be ideal.

I like to keep my stuff pristine I’m probably in the minority but I’d hate to have one of my games defaced with an autograph. Closest I’d probably go is if a collector’s edition had an art book would maybe consider having artists sign the blank bookplate on the inside cover.

As much as people shit on Twitter it’s a great way of interacting with devs if you are not a psycho and the devs are indie game ones. AAA blue hairs working for the likes of the western woke studios tend to be unhinged EA, ubishit etc. I have a few who follow me because I’m a huge fan of their stuff had some nice conversations about behind the scenes stuff with them.
