Hopefully Charli XCX doesn't gift her a hit hook again so we can be done with this.
Ha yeah pretty much

I'd actually argue that the most popular line from Fancy is, "First thing's first, I'm the realest."
That ain't true. Em got it bad when he first came out.
It took Em a long time to get respect. Until Dre he was just another oddball underground battle rapper. It took like 3 platinum albums for him to be mostly respected by his peers.
FYI, since this misconception seems to come up in every thread for some reason: Iggy Azalea isn't considered racist because she's a rapper who is white. Nobody cares that Eminem is white, people just lathered Run the Jewels with accolades and they're one-half white person, nobody's talking shit about Action Bronson.

People think Iggy Azalea is racist because she re-appropriated a Kendrick Lamar verse to compare herself to a "slave master."

Real question, is Action Bronson more popular than Aesop Rock?
That's what i'm tired of about Iggy. She's always playing the victim & shocked by the amount of hate responses she receives yet will say careless things on Twitter and be like "i'm not racist..." during interviews. She feels attacked all the time yet doesn't realize she fuels the fire every time. I hope she has some sense whenever she decides to go back on Twitter.
Fresh from the streets of Mullumbimby.
You are totally right about this, but Azealia Banks really isn't helping matters. I thought BwET was a fantastic album, and the crazy shit she says doesn't invalidate when she says things that are totally true like "white privilege is a real thing that exists," but the way she's just CONSTANTLY going in on Iggy - and always sandwiching her legit grievances with batshit garbage - makes her basically the anti-Iggy in the public's eyes, and then they actually wind up AGREEING with Iggy's victim complex as a result.
Then usually the conversation is shut down with people posting gifs of Iggy's ass and being like "WHO CARES, JUST LOOK AT THAT MAN," Christ seriously people fuck you if you do this

Well how would you feel if people were calling you racist over something you did not write?

Wha?
Snow tha Product is a female MC from Cali originally from Texas (Okay so she's Mexican not white but still), any other Snow tha Product was destined to fail anyway. Snow needs a better ear for production tho cause god she picks some wack ass beats to spit over....so I'll just post her Sway in the Morning freestyle if only for the "Fuck weed, legalize my mom" line.

iggy is a mess but im tired of resisting her power
i like her music
DRAG ME i guess, but Trouble is a JAM
She clearly doesn't know shit about rap, can't freestyle to save her life, is horrible live, and overall just seems fake as fuck. She's trash, brehs. And if you disagree you lost.

why slavemaster tho?
is that so? wouldn't you like to think the quieter ones are those who are more polite/tolerant of it?Being homophobic and being extreme in the thinking aren't mutually exclusive. The quiet, casual ones are the ones that are the most harmful, if anything.
yesssss.
incoming fuckery to balance the above post:

Also, Eminem did get catch flack , and if the dude started to emerge during the peak of social media, he probably would've gotten it much harder. There is one big difference, which is that Eminem was ridiculously talented, and was backed by Dr. Dre. (I couldn't give a shit about him these days though)
All the shit that Eminem has gotten has been over his kinda deplorable attitudes towards women and homosexuals, it has nothing to do with his status as a white rapper - which is what Iggy is trying to invoke here.
Like, there's this weird idea people have that the only reason people are upset with Iggy with regards to race is because ~*That Crazy Tumblr!*~ is mad because she dares to be a white person in the rap genre. It's not. It is way, way worse than that.
is horrible live

In hip hop I find it similar to that episode of Scrubs where they determine it's difficult for a black man to be a doctor but even more difficult for a black woman to be a doctor. I think the reverse is true that it's hard for a white man to be a rapper and even harder for a white woman to be. This is all based on a level of acceptance by the population.
Drake is on the same level of trash as Iggy tho.

Fuuuuuck that, Drake can write great hooks. And he's more versatile with his rhythm and cadence than Iggy will ever be.
I never got the problem people have with her American rap accent.
You know damn well she wouldn't be successful in the US rapping with her Australian accent. Its the same problem British rappers have.
Americans just won't accept the accent in rap.
Also its not like she puts on the accent in interviews and shit.
Girl Gone.
Let's not pretend like Iggy's hit songs aren't held afloat by catchy hooks done by far more talented (and likeable) artists.
It's not her nails-on-a-chalkboard bordering on racist caricature fake accent. It's not her incredibly poor flow or arrogant persona. Oops, didn't she go running from Twitter cuz she couldn't handle the criticism despite all the bile she's spewed on Twitter herself?
Call me when Igor manages to do a song on her own that smashes. People are here for her hooks, nothing more

Do you think all the "backlash" she gets is justified/deserved?
![]()
Or maybe just because Eminem is/was good and she's not.
Eminem outclassed Jay-Z on his own track... What has Iggy done so far? But to be fair I don't get the hate she gets either, people hating on the Internet 24/7 need a reality check as well.
Well, for one, she dropped the best hip-hop album of 2014 and the song of the summer (Fancy). Not bad for someone on their debut album.
Not today Satan.
I'd like to take the time to say...Rita Ora makes music for fun. She's worth nearly $200m.
Why can't people just let Iggy be. She's just a pop act that appeals to young girls...
I mean ffs she grew up in Australia and moved to America to try and make it as a big star and she did...deserves some credit imo.
