Oh yeah, I'm gonna say that Catwoman was the best action game. Can I join IGN now?
 
MGS3 didnt win best story? What the hell

I havent played GTA4 because i didnt like the previous games, but is the story that good? I just remember GTA3 having a typical cliche mob story. Nothing really special.
 
Jak 3 gets best graphics over the artistic achievement that is MGS3--are you shitting me? Oh well, I don't care.
 
Also: San Andreas for best story? Sorry, I'm not buying that for a second. It's a well done game, but the story pales in comparison to MGS3's.
 
San Andreas for best story? No offense but this white boy can't even understand what the people are talking about half the time! GTA's have always had bare bones stories but they weren't ever the most important part of the game so it didn't matter. Nice to see SH:C and Growlanser on that list.

How is an EA sports fight night game the most innovative??? Did I miss something here?

Well, the story is a little bit better than GTA III's, but that isn't saying all that much, and really, who the hell plays GTA for its story?

GTA may just not be your cup of tea.
No game has ever used the analog sticks to the beatiful precision of fight night, end of story.
Being a pugilist I could say this simulates the sweet science more that any boxing game before it.
Don't be suprised if next years nabs the game of the year award.
 
I maintain that IGN (in addition to almost any VG website/publication) should never be considered authorities on anything. How often do they try and project otherwise, have the large majority shout them down, but with so many afterwards going back to giving a shit??

With all the me-too crap in console RPG-land, it's good to see the game get recognized for what attracted me to in in the first place what seems now like an ice age ago - the gameplay. I was also glad that SH:C and SMT:N were the RPG finalists. Either one winning would have been fine by me.

Jak3's graphics are amazing. It's the best looking game, technically speaking, released on any console this year, imo.
 
Jak 3 looks great (haven't played it lately though), but pretty much all of Halo 2 and the later parts of Prince of Persia 2 look better.

And you've played Jak3. :lol From what I've gleaned of the media, GoW appears to look and play better than Ninja Gaiden. Back to Jak3. It's an amazing feat that such a game is possible on the "aged" PS2.

Only the Earth sequences in Halo 2 look comparable to Jak3. And PoP2 is just so horribly generic that I won't even bother considering it.

i'll believe it when i see it. These exact same type of comments were thrown around about Killzone vs Halo2, and that ran horribly in the end on ps2 hardware.

But MGS3 deserves more awards.

I agree with most of that, but I just wasn't impressed by Jak 3's graphics. It looks nice, but MGS3 looks godly on the PS2.

I'm not buying that-- metal gear blows every other game out of the water in terms of pushing the system. Just look at the what the game's engine can do in real-time:

How is that pushing the system? All I can see in the screenshots are low-poly counts and hardly any textures. Granted, I haven't played the game, but I really doubt this even competes with metal gear on a technical level. But to each his own.

Sorry, but Jak 3 merely looks "good". The only impressive thing about it is the characters' facial animation. MGS3 fucking destroys it.

Damn I love MGS3, but you boy are talking bullshit!
Jaks egnine and Jak 3 are .....fu**ing-awesome! The graphics are impressive even for Xbox or PC graphics. So, please .... some respect!!
