In a nutshell, QB vision passing will require your quarterback to look at the receiver he's passing to in order to have the very best chance of completing a pass. Other bonuses of looking at the intended receiver include having the option to lead him and place the pass precisely where you want it. That is you can throw behind or ahead of a receiver to keep the defense from getting to it and even that awesome stem route Chris Carter used to run with the Vikings where he wanted the ball just over a defender's head. But all of this only comes with looking at the receiver in the QB vision system.

The QB vision system will allow for some new strategies, however. In head to head as well as CPU games the defense will know who you're looking at so you can use this to your advantage by looking one way and throwing in another direction. On a play action fake, the quarterback will be late looking downfield since selling the handoff and the run is the whole point of the play fake. Also the cone of vision shrinks for every QB when he's scrambling since he'll be less focused on what's going on downfield.

In Madden you've been able to add some precision positioning on your passes for some time now, ever since Visual Concepts fine tuned Maximum Passing in the 2K football series. So the leading and placement you'll be doing in Madden NFL 2006 is more about the specialized animations that are going to go with it. You'll see receivers stretch for passes in front of them and pivot to position themselves between the incoming the pass and the defender. Fade routes will be a thing of beauty, just like in real life, now that your receiver will try to keep his feet in bounds to catch a ball thrown with perfect touch over his outside shoulder. Y

damn. looks exactly the same. the new qb vision sounds pretty cool, but fuck me if that's the main big improvement. that simply isn't enough.

xbox 360 here i come. i'm soooo ready for next gen sports game.

It looks alright. The graphics haven't changed at all (maybe less shadowing on jerseys, but otherwise, I see nothing new). The cone thing seems a little bit better than what I thought it would be and it's a much better than what differentiated the last 2 Maddens. I just hope there's more than that, like brand new things, not expansions of whats there.

With the exception of 2005 all the Maddens look exactly the same, I wish they would change it up like they do in Fifa every year that game looks a plays differently ( Yes WE is better blah blah)

Fuckin' awesome. Hopefully the accuracy isn't drastically diminished when the player that I dump it off to is outside of the cone. I love dumping it off to my backs in the flats. Still, the CPU knowing where you're looking and even worse, another human player, is going to be annoying.

With all the improvements to the passing game, I hope the fucking DBs can keep up. We already have problems enough as it is with the slot corner and other routes. Let's also please have speedster DBs be able to keep up with wideouts.

Ryck: Madden 2004 was the single biggest improvement in Madden from one year to the next.

You'll be able to see where the CPU QB is looking to throw the ball and you'll have to take care that they're not trying to look you off of a particular receiver as well. Best of all, you'll finally be able to feel the difference between a cagey veteran like Brett Favre and a youngster like Rex Grossman when you're playing against them. Against Grossman you know you'll be able to rely on his lack of vision to help you play defense.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

This guy jocked Favre and dissed Grossman in the same paragraph! He'll pay!

Quarterback Vision and Placement is EA's fancy way of saying they've changed the passing mechanic in Madden '06. Being able to see the field is a valuable skill for all football players but it absolutely makes or breaks NFL quarterbacks. Good QB vision is what separates Peyton Manning --who can see the entire field-- from Eli Manning --who can see out of his helmet's earholes-- and what will finally make that awareness rating of your QB mean something.

GET HIM BOB.

What the hell is wrong with the graphics?

Well...last year the previous year's graphics were used in preview screenshots. And I don't particualrly see anythign wrong with those graphics. It is a football game, what new graphical updates do you need?

On the changes in Madden 2006, it seems most things have been addressed. That is not from the IGN preview, just reading other sites around the net. Of course E3 and the August release will tell us alot about the game.

I thought 05 looked WAY better but Im speaking strictly graphics.....04 to me looked exactly like 03,

Sounds pretty freakin cool. I hope there is a setting so the opposition cant see where your QB is looking if the feature winds up being misued (like everything else always does).

I love it. The cone starts on the primary receiver, you can change it at the line, and you can quickly toggle it by pressin R2 and the receiver number. So when I see that wide open receiver across the field, I just need to press R2+X to cone him, and then X again to throw the ball. Absolutely love it.

I wonder if they'll include the McNabb Late-Game Fatigue System™ that prevents tired QBs from running a hurry-up offense.

Holy damn!Just look how the WRs and DBs look back towards the ball and the way there bodies are positioned, looks so damn good *drool*

Cone passing is going to rawk, anyone notice how little Vick's is compared to McNabb? lmao

Too much EA love in this thread... need some hate and grumbling about the exclusive license please... okthnxbye.

"In head to head as well as CPU games the defense will know who you're looking at so you can use this to your advantage by looking one way and throwing in another direction."

:lol Wow, this is new :lol All those years I have never been able to do this :lol Can't wait for next year's addition enabling all field goals to be 3 points just like the real game :D As usual, the game looks to have a roster update and that is it. This whole cone vision is total bs that does not take a year to work on.

Head tracking. Wow. So my quarterback will actually look at the receiver he's throwing to and the receiver will actually look at the ball? And this took how many year's to implement? The NFL license is in good hands. :D

Seriously, the game looks about like I expected. I hope and pray they've done something about the ping-pong running game though.

It's obvioius. EA has an "Uber" version of madden that all they do is add 2-3 new features each year and slap a 20XX on it to sell more. This is sad.

Hmm, I dunno... Maybe the fact they're still not better than NFL 2K5's were? EA's modeling team sucks huge hairy nutsack.

The faces still look like emotionless automatons. It still looks the friggin same.

How many times when playing Madden or ESPN's game are you looking at a player's face? How many times are you checking to see if he is smiling or sad? That is like saying, "GT4 sucks, you can't even see what brand of oil filter that car is using." It makes no difference to the game.

Holla at me when they update the presentation

Yea because that just makes the gameplay 10x better...:lol

Everyone in here is just bitching about the graphics/presentation!Christ it's just pathetic...

And why aren't these trolls banned just like any other troll? The bullshit they spew is no different from what those dumb 360 vs. PS3 threads have. -_-

One thing I have to give EA, and keep in mind I agree with you in that a graphics overhaul is definitely needed (though now there's the built-in "Wait till next gen" excuse), is that they have been able to keep that classic, 2D Madden look/feel even after all these years.

Check it out, you know how people always bitch about the "squat" or "midget" players?

Well I say they're just sticking to their roots, which makes the visuals somehow endearing, in a nostalgic way. I wonder if the current graphical style is directly related to this.

I just wanted to inform you guys that don't get mad at me when I don't have to move the cone at all because of Ben's great vision!

Uh huh. Well Delhomme's vision cone even extends to the cheerleaders!!!!

I heard Ben's cone disappears in the playoffs.

By the second screen shot I knew it was broken... My Seahawks' wideouts is catching a pass... BOOOOOO!!! EA!!! BOOO!!!!

It doesn't dissapear, the buttons just appear over the DBs heads instead of the WRs :(

Also known as the Kordell Stewart/Neil O' Donnel syndrome :lol

At this point I'm starting to think Cowher is coaching this playoff mental breakdown in minicamps. No way you get not 1, not 2, but THREE QBs who cant handle the playoffs under the same coach :lol

Somehow I blame Brady for that playoff collapse. I think he was probably responsible for McNabb's breakdown too.

And to stay consistent, I must recommend Winning Eleven 8 to everyone once again. Best sports game ever and honestly it has made me forget about Madden for the moment. Still playing the game obsessively with friends in multiplayer over 2 months after its release.

WE = best game this generation. :D
