IGN:New Scalebound Details. Klobb: "Has potential to be Game of all Time"

i may be mis-remembering some things here, but didn't Kamiya (or someone from Platinum) say that scalebound was not going to be like the games they normally do ( as in a hardcore action game), and say that they were doing something different with this game?

makes me question why he would say "what does platinum do?" in relation to this game if they arnt doing what they do.

also what actually does microsoft do? hes asking it like its rhetorical but i actually have no idea what he means.
give people money? yeah its probably just giving platinum money.

...but no one from Sony said it was going to be "the game of all time". you are ridiculous dude.

that's true. they weren't on a high horse about it but the point is they delivered a new IP which ended up being pretty much a breakthrough for video games. who knows, platinum games might have it in them to pull it off.

It's not difficult to put together. Platinum as you mentioned, tends to delve in hardcore action games. Or more specifically, single player hardcore action games. Microsoft has historically been extremely online orientated, and considering the fact that there's seemingly more than one character represented within the game's trailer, it's safe to say that some form of online play (likely co-op?) is going to be present within the game.

So not really new details, just Lobb dancing around a bunch of questions and giving cryptic bullshit as a response.

"What does Platinum do well? That's what they're building.

Character action games? Well, platinum have said this is going to be unlike previous games they've made, so Lobb may be speaking out of his arse.

It's a Kamiya game, of course it's going to be one of the best games of all time. That's a given.

Exactly. The trouble is getting it to sell.

There is always some limiting element to their appeal. Kamiya games just need a little more oomph character design wise and in the story department.

Platinum does seem to be at their best with a first party budget. Sony better jump on that eventually.

What about the original Bayonetta, Vanquish, and MGR?

I don't think the quality depends on whether they work with a first or third party.
It mostly just depends on time and money, like everything else.

Whatever man. I'm not gonna believe that spin on anything, even if it's Platinum. Stuff like this devalues the game more than anything.

What's wrong with IGN reporting quotes found within the podcast? The video has less than 9,000 views on Youtube, and not everyone in the world views Neogaf - let alone clicked that specific thread. I'm sure it's news to a lot of people.

I wonder how hands-on Microsoft is getting with this project. MS's track record with hands-on work hasn't been the best.

See, this is why PR speak is stupid. We know it's going to be fantastic -- it's a Platinum game under the direction of Kamiya. So tell us you've seen more of the game, tell us it's going to be radical. That's fine. But "game of all time?" Fuck off.

The game will probably be great but that statement sounds hilarious... like they're trying too hard to hype the game.

That quote will haunt this game during its whole pre-launch.

He's telling us to raise our expectations to stratospheric heights, which isn't wise when consumers already feel they were sold a bill of goods in 2014.....AND even worse, no one believes him.

Why go there, man? WHY?

the point isn't that at all. the point is MS guys shouldn't be spouting out ridiculous stuff like that.

I don't doubt the game will be incredible BTW. but I don't think anyone is questioning that here.

It was a genuine conversation with fan podcast. Not like he had press conference and said this
