This wasn't a PR statement at all.
It was a podcast interview.
you believe it's impossible for someone to do pr during interviews? hyperbole's hyperbole...

Lobb is setting up huge expectations that aren't really fair to Platinum....
Well have they ever done a casual podcast interview?not sure where I said yoshida or boyes would need to scream it in a PR statement for it to be a silly thing to say but OK! neat!

I'm already disappointed.
Ken Lobb is about as far from a "PR guy" as you can get.
He's a dude who loves games, not a corporate suit.
Rare
Truly how unfortunate. Such statements are begging for critical backlash if the game fails to meet such an unreasonable target.
If you are going to get cocky and point towards the outfield seats, you better bring it like Babe Ruth. Given that Platinum is the developer, I would love to see them hit it out of the park but this is the last thing they need hanging over their development cycle.
What does Platninum do well?
Make games that dont sell.
What does Microsoft do well?
Kill great studios.
Uh oh.
Jeez guys, can't we just wait until we get more details...
Is it going to be the GOAT?
We don't know. Let's wait.
Is it NOT going to be the be the GOAT?
We don't know. Let's wait.
It was on a podcast for Xbox fan that has like 5000 subs. I don't think he is trying hype up the game lol
I have no doubts that a P* game, directed by Kamiya, will be one of the GOATs. It will be legendary. A new action legend, on the same scale as Bayonetta and DMC. But it'll also sell 3 copies.
I thought there would be details?
It's Platinum so it can be!!!!.
Damn, I really hope this gets average sales like most Platinum games and MS decides to release it on PC

100% agree. Many aren't familiar with Platinum's games due to the reasons you've stated. If this statement will make some of them interested in Scalebound then there's nothing wrong with it -- all for a good cause (as you've said).
Yeah, Lobb is such a dick. Can't believe he would say such shit. Gamers should get really mad since we all know it really isn't going to be the game of all time. How could someone even say that on a podcast having a conversation with a fan?
This is sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious.
IGN click bait

lol, fuck offWhen asked if Scalebound shares similarities with Monster Hunter, Lobb dismissed the suggestion, calling the Capcom series "weird and grindy."
Freaking boo!Lobb said:

I came in hoping to find out more about one of my most anticipated Xbox One games and got absolutely nothing. What a waste of an article.

So you think it will be the highest reviewed game ever? It would pretty much have to be to be the "game of all time."
That's the corner you get backed into with quotes like this. Then, if the game does underwhelm, next time Lobb tries to hype something up, he gets laughed at with quotes like "yeah yeah just like Scalebound"
I just don't understand what you gain with quotes like this, Lobb is setting up huge expectations that aren't really fair to Platinum....
Yall seem confused..There's a difference between a game reviewing well and being the "Game of all Time".
Remember the hype for Titanfall? Wasn't even the best reviewed game of the week it was released.
Evil Within was #3 in October NPD
