IGN:New Scalebound Details. Klobb: "Has potential to be Game of all Time"

Miyazaki is pissed with you for leaving him out.

He's only recently reached Day 1 purchase status, so I forgot. My bad. Bloodborne is day 1 as well!

I think since this is coming from the KLOBB himself, at the very least this means the game is showing promise.

I think getting a dragon game to have widespread appeal is a very tall order, but you would think with the love Platinum gets round these parts that there would be less skepticism in this thread.

Will it have a larger budget and be better than Bayonetta 2? Yes
Did Bayonetta 2 get tons of really high scores? Yes
Therefore it isn't unlikely that this could be at the least a hallmark title of the generation.

People should be stoked that MS is giving the Platinum A team a very sizable check and creative license.

First, I didn't realize Platinum had an "A team."

Second, larger budget won't mean a better game than Bayo 2. That was a game that refined to perfection what came before. We don't know what the hell Scalebound will be (other than awesome, because it's Kamiya).

The reason I have my Xbone and I hope it really is all the things they want it to be as far as how they are talking it up right now. I also would love Platinum to have a hit on their hands. Rooting for em :D

Laughing at all the unbelievers in this thread, this is Kamiya we are talking about everything that man directs is gold. Kamiya and Platinum Games will deliver, bookmarking this thread for the crow eating next year.

I love that Sony and Microsoft both got niche Japanese studios that are loved by really dedicated hardcore fanbases and are known to make really mechanically deep games. It's a really interesting dichotomy they've created considering how different the design philosophies are between From Soft and Platinum in spite of their similarities as studios.

It's Platinum, so it's going to be amazing. GOAT though...I don't think any of their games have ever been referred to as GOAT.

In any case, glad to hear he's excited about it.

It better be, considering the biggest reason why I even wanted to buy Xbone 50/50 together with my big brother when it was only 250€ at a new store's opening is mostly because of this game. I could have lived without Sunset Overdrive, Crackdown & D4, but Scalebound is something I just have to play. And I have confidence that it will be, what's with Kamiya being one of the GOAT game directors, so he will hardly disappoint.

That said, I'm getting the impression that this will be a bit like Okami in structure (adventure game with open world) where you fly around and maybe fight Lair on overdrive style on a dragon, with ground combat that is somewhat reminiscent of Kamiya's past action games + Microsoft brings in teh coop/online infrastructure.

Of course it's going to be GOAT, it's being released on Xbox One: The All-in-One Entertainment System from Microsoft.

I don't know, there have been countless threads talking about Bayo 1 and 2 and Metal Gear Rising as GOAT

I feel like this game is only being made with money in mind and not actually what Kamiya wants to do... it will probably look really nice and be technically sound but have no soul (see also: Lost Odyssey)

Out of the extremely limited knowledge we know, I had always just guessed it would be a straight action game like Bayonetta, but it could be a different structure. I also wonder if Co-op will simply just be SP with more enemies or if there will be content specifically for Co-op/MP.

Nah it's an Xbox exclusive will get 85+.
What are you talking about? The media hasn't been overhyping xb1 games or giving them all great scores. In fact, only TWO xb1 exclusives have a metacritic score over 85. So what are you talking about?

please hire better aritsts. their artists lack that universal wide appeal.

if only they can snatch some of Capcom's...

lol @ the negativity for being on XB1. Hype a product and it's unrealistic, let it rot and you're the devil (D4). This game is going to be fucking awesome and I'm glad Lobb is hyping what's almost certainly going to be another underperforming (sales) Platinum game.

A big budget game for Kamiya on the Xbox One or the PS4 such as this has massive potential with its capabilities. I really look forward to what he can do on a mainstream console.

It will be so good, everything else scheduled to release after Scalebound will be cancelled.
Console gaming will die confirmed.

Here's the time stamp of that "game of all time" quote.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JXs7HVXXmk#t=2630

I really wouldn't look into it too much considering he's laughing when he says it so he's obviously somewhat joking. Still, he does seem genuinely excited about it so I can't wait to see it in action.

Regardless, I hope this isn't something people take out of context and turn it into a whole thing. Wishful thinking though, I know.

Tower Climber 5: Defeat Enemies and Collect Objects was indeed a classic.
Oh great the Ubilol shitposting has begun despite Ubisoft having nothing to do with this topic. -_-
It'd be great to have a thread without Ubisoft shitposting for once.

I know this is Platinum and all, but this is just irresponsible. Saying it has the 'potential' to be GOAT? Go home, KLOBB. You're drunk.

I'm sure the game will be good but I don't think it will surpass Bayonetta 2 or be "the best game of all time". That is just over exaggerating it.

Basically. It's a good studio, but to flat out say it can be the best game of all time is dangerously irresponsible. I have a feeling, this who phrase will stay with the game for the rest of its life.

Well, if it has potential to be GOAT, then it's irresonsible and an injustice to have resources spread out.

MS should have pumped the 2 billion that went to minecraft and everything else into this.
