IGN:New Scalebound Details. Klobb: "Has potential to be Game of all Time"

Here's the time stamp of that "game of all time" quote.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JXs7HVXXmk#t=2630

I really wouldn't look into it too much considering he's laughing when he says it so he's obviously somewhat joking. Still, he does seem genuinely excited about it so I can't wait to see it in action.

Regardless, I hope this isn't something people take out of context and turn it into a whole thing. Wishful thinking though, I know.
Added to OP, and regarding the bolded, it's probably too late to hope that that won't happen.

Ignoring the hyperbole from Klobb I am really looking forward to what could potentially be a brilliant game. E3 gameplay footage please!!!

Still trying to figure out what Microsft studios do well. Overhype games which causes them to end up disappointing is all I'm getting, or like someone else said, kill great studios.

I'm still wondering about that thing MS does well.

Moneyhats?

Most likely online, this game sounds like a platinum games xenoblade with epic boss battles (fight in trailer)

Games like this need drop in and out multiplayer in 2015, Diablo 3 does it, monster hunter 2 freedom unite on ipad does it.. needs to be in more action games.

Look up Kamiya's use of focus testing with Viewtiful Joe. He took it into account then proceeded to completely ignore it. I don't think you have anything to worry about with him.

On another note there have been some truly laughable responses in this thread. It seems as though many people are under the delusion that this game is from some unknown developer of dubious quantity. Seriously shows who the uninformed are, Platinum has a ridiculously good track record and before anyone goes "lol but Anarchy Reigns" this game is directed by Kamiya who is responsible for what are widely considered some of the best action games of all time and has never made a bad game.

Scalebound is about as sure a bet as you can get with a new IP regardless of if we haven't seen anything about it yet and the cynicsm about Lobb's comments is ridiculous.

Here is possible moutain goat representation of what Mr. Lobb said -

Based on focus group testing that has been done for the game, they've got some big ideas for the title.

Hideki Kamiya on focus group testing :

HK: I think the whole focus-group thing is not the way to make a game, because you start to bring in other people's opinions and lose some of the originality. For Viewtiful Joe, we brought in some kids to a focus test and asked them, "What do you think of the characters?" And all the kids said, "Oh, his head's too big," or "Silvia's annoying, I just want to kill her." They were just trashing the game, so I just got pissed off and said I'm not changing anything.

Meh I will never understand GAFs love for Platinum Games. I only played 2 games from them and they were shitty as hell. Bayonetta and Vanquish on PS3. Never again.

For Context, the "GOAT" quote was said in a humorous tone that wasn't meant to be taken at face value.

It's too late ! OUTRAGE ! OUTRAGE !

Every thread about this game ever shall now be plagued by this statement, no discussion will ever be allowed to take place properly ever again, like a curse to punish the hubris of Microsoft and their BOLD STATEMENT !

YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT THIS SENTENCE KEN LOBB !

*disappears in cloud of devilish smokes back to the ashes of hell*

Why would people like well made action games, I wonder to myself.

Did they say anything about Phantom Dust?

EDIT: Anarchy Reigns is a great game. I want another one with better designed multiplayer.

Generally, I'd take someone describing their own product as even having the possibility of being game of all time, as something that will likely be proven false.

Same here, MGR was coo tho. Not a fan of Platinum. Still keeping an eye on this on, but not expecting to be one of the guys who likes it :/

Your first mistake was bashing Platinum on this forum, of all places.
More importantly, your second mistake was playing Bayonetta on the PS3.

Well, it is probably the game I want to see gameplay footage of the most. That has little to do with Lobb's comment - even though I like that he says it's not a Monster Hunter type game - but more with Platinum's pedigree and Kamiya's in particular.

The man made Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Bayonetta and TW101 after all. Fantastic action games.

In my head, Scalebound is a mix of Devil May Cry, Panzer Dragoon and Okami. Whatever it is in reality, I can't wait to find out. Kamiya playing with the most advanced hardware he's ever worked with and with a nice Microsoft budget to back him perhaps? Bring on the dragons.

Yeah, why would people care for games with rich mechanics that don't treat you like a idiot and are often loaded with content not spread out over tons of DLC packs? Games that dare to be games and treat the gamer with respect. If only we had more of those.

Lobb was unable to speak on exactly what kind of game Scalebound is, but he did offer up a few hints. "What does Platinum do well? That's what they're building. And what do we (Microsoft Studios) do well? That's what we're adding. And yes, these are dragon companions."

So it's a high-quality character action game built for the North American audience?

Knowing Platinum it full well could be GOAT...but only for the couple of hundred people who buy it.

Hoping it's great though, it'll probably get me to buy an Xbox One if it is.
