IGN plays Sunset Overdrive

I hope the meta for this game is high if the game is good. It looks the most refreshing game of the year with a wicked art style down to the helicopter to the particle effects which are varied. The humor is awesome too very light hearted and not found in many games at all

It's so hard to gauge how this game will sell, I mean what do you compare it to?

I think that is one of the things the game will have going for itself in that it is not just another sequel or something that is similar to other game types like FPS games etc. It is unique and different. Not sure if that will hurt or help it in the long run, I think it is great to have something unique as part of the Xbox One library, but I am also a hard core gamer and am here all the time, but for the average consumer, they may see it as a WTF is this.

MS Marketing has been in full force as they are advertising the game a lot on television so that might help it as well.

Absolutely applaud ms for pushing new ip. Insomniac Props for bringing something that reminds me of why I started playing games. Bought digital and it's sat on my hard drive ready to unlock on Friday. Really excited. Let's do this

Its hard not to see the things that have influenced this game, whether it be the over riding Tony Hawks Pro Skater feel or the Scott Pilgrim style text pops. There is even a little Infamous and Jet Set Radio thrown in there for good measure but overall, I haven’t played a game that is this much fun for a long time and I can’t see me rating a game higher than this for a long time either. Sunset Overdrive delivers a superbly fun experience and a nostalgic thrown back to how games used to be. Just great fun. This will surely be a console seller for Microsoft and the developers should be proud of what is one of the best games I have ever played.

I gave this a 9.4/10

High praise from at least one early review.

Since we have one official review we can make that review thread right, RIGHT???

I would LOVE to make it but I don't want to step on anyone's toes if they called dibs on it.

I assume the winter time change in the EU messed with them this weekend?

I'm so sad I can't pick this up on tuesday. Congrats on this high score and hopefully more to come!

Seems like it, but it'll probably be better to wait at least until 10 mins before so there's not a half an hour wait for the other reviews. but idk, I think it would be okay to post it now, though.

Fuck, Microsoft stores are giving out these Fizzie shirts at their midnight release.

Yeah, I'll send it out in 20 minutes. Want to start the thread with reviews from some of the major sites.

3/10 "Felt betrayed seeing the Insomniac logo booting up."

LOL. Perhaps not betrayal but definitely odd that this game is exclusive on xbone and not multiplat. The irony if this becomes a killer app for xbone considering the general "Meh"ness of resistance lastgen would be an interesting storyline too. Hoping the games awesome tho, insomniac is a great team. Will pick up when I eventually fit a second console in my budget.

Sony are you hearing this? Stop relying on graphics to sell all your games up to this point. Bloodborne is a step in the right direction tho.

Very bold statement just for the very first review presented by a gamedev before the embargo goes down... not saying that is not good a game.. but... come on.

"Insomniac's vision for the game was clearly hampered by inferior hardware. I say clear but sadly the game is not, being a blurry sub-1080P mess. The game stutters at a lowly 30fps with the Xbox practically wheezing under the pressure. Unforgivably void of chromatic aberration." XboxOne/10

MS has been advertising the game for a while i believe. why would doing it the day before be a fuck up anyways?

You are obviously finding a correlation between an advertisement and a review score. If Microsoft wouldn't have ran that website skin you would have found that score to be worth taking seriously, so they fucked up. Not that it matters because the idea of it all is hilarious.

I need to be up in three hours and I'm in bed next to my wife, waiting for a damn review score. Already prepaid but super excited about this game.

i'm finding a conflict of interest.

What is the point of this?

i'm finding a conflict of interest.

Practically every videogame site on the internet has videogame related adverts. I'm sure there have been some "questionable" situations where publishers have applied some pressure or incentives have been given, but at the end of the day most reviewers are just average gamers who tell it how they see it.

Whether a review is accurate or a good representation of most people's opinion is another matter, but a site having ad's up for a game the day before its release doesn't even make me bat an eye lid these days.

Sales and editorial don't work together on most sites. I am not seeing any evidence they work together on this one.

still a conflict of interest guys. if other sites have the same thing then its a conflict of interest there as well.
