IGN Review Dead or Alive 4

I don't see the contoversy.... if you fix something, shouldn't it be better?

I just see it as the text of the review not jiving with the score. But that happens alot at IGN anyway. I have read reviews of games getting called out for shortcomings the entire review, but then turn around and get a 9+ score.

Tekken has always been a subpar fighting game IMO. Yes they can make it look flashier, but until the mechanics undergo major changes it will continue to be a button-mashers dream come true. Meh.

What major changes do you suggest? What is it that makes Tekken more masher friendly than VF, SC or DOA? All of these 3D fighters with simple commands allow for mashing.

Yep. Why don't the VF fans want online? Wh can't they at least give it a try? Every thread I see the same thing, "online would suck," "online can't handle it."

I'd like to know as well. All you ever see is vague comments about frames. 3rd Strike works decently online. Why wouldn't VF?

tekken needs to be less juggle happy and they need to balance out the characters the machimas (sp?) are way too powerful while true skill characters like lei get nerfed every year. Tekken is the least balanced of fighters when it comes to characters.

VF would work great online. It just wouldn't be "as" good as in an arcade or with two people on a console. Lag introduces imperfections - Sega's challenge should be to build the game so that it's still balanced and fun online, not simply throw up their hands and say, "We only seek utter perfection."

I want to play VF against other players around the world, or in fact, period. The grim reality is that most VF players are playing alone, most of the time.

Anyway, I am off to the store to see if DOA is there yet.

I would hate it if they got rid of the juggles or even toned them down. I guess the damage is pretty crazy in 5 but they are a Tekken staple. The ruthless nature of Tekken where a mistake could cost you half your life is one of my favorite things about it.

A perfectly balanced game would be nice but T5 is not that bad. There's a few on top, a few on bottom and then everyone else in the middle. As a Kuma player I have a hard time feeling bad for Lei. At least he was good in TTT.

Eh, since you can still counter out of getting hit in the middle combos in DOA4, the ground game is still nerfed and we have to juggle to pull off good combos anyway. No one answered my questions in the other thread, does that mean there are no worth while stagger like moves at all?

Try doing Akira's 1 frame cancel knee with lag.

Try doing Jin's just frame Laser Scraper with lag.

Online fighting games are for the casuals.

Sega and Namco realise that high end gameplay will be greatly diminished because of lag so they won't implement it.

Damage control. The arcades are dead. We need another place to get a fix because Friday nights for people in the bay area sure as Hell isn't helping the rest of the country.

There's parries, charge partitions, and links in 3rd Strike a lot harder to do than Jin's JFLS. He doesn't even have that anymore.

High level play wouldn't be harmed. There would still be offline gatherings, tournaments and the arcade. If only casuals play then so be it. They may get more into the game and start playing offline. The fighting game community needs all the new players it can get.

I'd still trade up the single player garbage Namco stacked in SC3 for a slightly imperfect online mode, no fucking contest. 360, MAKE IT HAPPEN!
