Illegal Fireworks Making LA Look Like an Insane Fantavision Level

I never understood the appeal of fireworks, to be honest.

I guess if you enjoy watching your money fly into the air and vanish in a puff of light. Ooooh!

I'm not American so can someone explain why they made or tried to make fireworks illegal?

California is basically a tinderbox. Fireworks that go up in the air drop burning embers on the ground and can start massive fires. In some states, there's basically zero risk of them starting a fire because the ground is always somewhat wet/saturated due to humidity, so mortars and such are fine.

Usually local cities and such will put on their own shows in a safe way, but COVID cancelled most of these. So people said fuck off we'll do our own.

COVID didn't cancel shit. Nanny states canceled them.

When you teach people that the police have no power, the lesson they learn is that the police have no power.

And I can't believe this is shocking to them, but when people think there are no consequences for actions, they don't commit less crimes.
Celebrating 4th of July is NOT a crime, no matter what the tyrannical left says. These people are patriots celebrating the independence of our great nation. Anyone who disagrees with it is ether very stupid or an enemy of the United States.

This is the take I am choosing to see. Pushing back against the insanity.

Oh that makes sense.

I was driving late last night and this year was lit, fireworks fucking everywhere. Lot of pent up party demand.

Are they giving and FU to the country or are they celebrating the holiday for the country? The pr spin on this can go either way here.

My entire neighborhood (not Cali) was lit up with fireworks all night. It wasn't the usual Roman candles and bottle rockets, they were lighting those big canister shells. One of the most surreal July 4ths I've ever experienced. Standing in my driveway half dressed, eating a slice of pie with fireworks going off all around me. The only thing missing was a Bald Eagle swooping through the fucking sky.

Plot twist - the fireworks killed said bald eagle.

That state is in trouble. As much as people rag on Florida, California is actually worse than our dystopian visions could have predicted.

Of course not, but I think you misunderstand me. I think it's sweet to watch people celebrate in the face of the shithead mayor who decided that July 4th celebrations were bad, but told everyone to get out there and protest.

The point was that it is illegal to shoot off fireworks there and has always been a very big deal (because of the fires that consume the dry city so often), but people now know they can do it anyway and won't face any consequences because the city has taught everyone that police will no longer respond to crimes. It's going to become a big problem in these highly liberal cities when more and more people figure out that lawlessness is approved by the government there.

All the neighborhoods around me were insane. Well they always are but this year was some of the craziest shit I've ever seen.

I think a lot can be said about banning guns with these images. I do find it hilarious to a certain degree for a state that burns around the clock.

Funny to see the blue checkmarks falling over themselves to remind people that this is ILLEGAL. Suddenly, the rule of law is important again because they don't like thing.

It's important to keep this in mind. The left will argue for breaking laws they consider unjust or racist until their side is in a position to reshape the laws to their liking; then they'll bring the hammer down.

May an american explain to me how do they all fire at the same time? Is there like an official time they agreed to set the fireworks and celebrate 4th of july?

Basically, as soon as it's dark, you start lighting off all of your big expensive fireworks.

That has no bearing in the city of LA where we are seeing the best videos from. What is going to catch fire in LA, some homeless encampments or something?

I follow this guy on youtube that flies around SoCal in his helicopter, he put up an almost hour long video of the 4th of July fireworks. It was spectacular.

On another note, fireworks have been illegal here in northern Illinois for as long as I've lived here and everyone still does them. You can drive to WI, IN, or MO and find whatever you want. This year I found some firecrackers that were pretty much M80s, blew up a watermelon on the 4th with one.
