swap a k24 engine/tranny right into that del sols sugar slit

i'll always have a place in my cold heart for hondas, i've recently restored and built an 01 prelude, 99 si, 02 s2k, and have a 01 type r teg im still messing with
I have an b18c with 20 lbs of boost I had in a crx. So I just shift link and mounts.

Why is old honda so crazy. So the car is at the brother's house where I am. But the owner will be here in 20 minutes. Btw I had to bring my own rims.

Its a good investment. He won't loose money, well here in Britain he wouldn't loose money. They are worth £5k over here for a shit one with a manual box..

In theory yes. but it sounds like there will be lot of work between where he's starting and where he would need to be to sell at a respectable price.

My first car was a 94’ B16 model. Did a full JDM front end with rare fog lights and all. Swapped a JDM GSR in it w/ Type R trans and then sold it after I bought my Evo. Wish I never got rid of it.

Lol he is obviously paying less than £1k for the shell and already has an engine.
Rust is an easy job to fix even if you need to weld and cut new pieces of metal.

Can I ask how much you paid? That looks not as bad as I was thinking. Nice garage too, damn! Thanks for posting pics.
I paid 800 dollars for shell with really clean interior and set of innovative motor mounts and del sol b series shift linkage.

The rims were mine 99 civic si wheels. I think I did pretty good. I have a built b18c1 with grs tranny quaife lsd that is going in it. I'm going to tune it with hondata myself and run 20 psi of boost on 93 octane

It didn't come with a fuel pump or battery.

Thanks. I built the garage 2 years ago to work on project cars when I had time. Time never came and I most just started working out in the garage. I miss working on cars for fun. I mostly like 90s hondas 88-95. Del sols and crxs are my favorites.

Car is considered antique in delaware and is tagged for 2 years also.

Are you prepared for the bad defrost and leaks from the top and side windows?

(I had a Del Sol for five years, good luck).
I know and it will sit in my garage for weekend fun car to keep me content until I have enough saved up for k1 attack kit car. I did get some seal conditioner.

It was my dream car back in my college days. I'm more of a fan of CR-X.... but since Del Sol was more or less spiritual successor of CR-X, I really wanted one... but as a poor art student, I couldn't afford one.

I wish you a good luck for fixing it, OP!

So guys I might have a problem. I just bought a no title 94 honda civic ex 5 speed for parts for the del sol. I'll post pictures once I get her home. I think I'm addicted to buying rusty hondas from the 90s. 500 bucks and it's running driving d16z6.

Is it as good as a s2000?

ive owned both, its not a fair comparison

the del sol is a fun peppy little car that with some upgrades can be pretty quick.

the s2k out of the box is just exciting to drive. top down, 6 speed manual, flying through traffic ripping it up til the 9k redline (8300 in later models), not to mention its rear wheel drive and the F20C and F22C motors respond well to basic upgrades

its a shame they dont make them anymore now that honda saw the light and are using turbochargers in stock applications. I'd be nostalgic for the new NSX, but the C8 vette is too amazing a value to pass up, so the choice was easy.

I pulled the side skirts off to inspect the rust. I called https://www.millsupply.com/ and they have rocker panels($34 each) and quarters($54 each) for like 90 dollars a side. So I'm going to cut this out then weld them back in. Shouldn't be that bad. I needed new front fenders ($30 each), front bumper($80) and rear bumper($80). I got them from a distributor at my father in laws body shop. Still debating on hood probably Vis Carbon Fiber but will wait till the end for that. Ordered new door handles from amazon for 19 bucks. I also ordered a go pro hero 7 so I could mount a camera on my hat and record while i work. I'm going to start uploading to youtube after it comes in. More for my own reference than anything else.

This is the donor car I got for engine bay wiring, new fuel lines, fuel pump assembly. I'm pulling this motor/transmission next week so I can sell it. I found someone who would buy the motor/transmission for 500 bucks which is what i paid for a car so I've already broken even on the junk car before I even started.

Amazing enough I drove the car into the garage with the broken upper control arm. I did tow it home with triple A though. You can sorta see in all the mess the b18c and b16a motor sitting in back by window. (more on that later)

I also just bought some bigger brakes for the Del Sol from Scarebird.com Honda (scarebird.com)

So I'm going to do front brakes 11' rotors from a Volkswagen Corrado with Chevy Calipers and civic ex knuckles for the front.
Then I'm going to do the scarebird disc conversion to del sol /civic disc brakes in the rear.
Integra type r master cylinder and brake booster with Acura Integra proportion valve.

I will have that done in a few weeks depending on how much time I can do a night between work, wife and kids.

So I made some process and figured I would share. I ordered about 3000 dollars in parts from suspension, brakes, and body parts to get her back to stock. I also bought a plasma cutter to start working on the rust. :D i love new tools.

I took it outside the garage with the help of my son steering it and me pushing to give the engine bay one more powerwash before I pull the subframe and suspension for painting. This has been a really relaxing fun project.

Next I put it back on the lift and pulled the font suspension, manual steering rack, and subframe. I cleaned up the rust and painted every part with Por 15 rust preventative. 2 coats then a top coat of paint. I also used Por 15 on the inner fender wheels where the plastic inner fender line will go back on after install everything back.

This is the first coat of Por 15. I think it came out pretty good but time will tell.

I also pulled the gas tank out and painted it as I plan to do the whole under carriage with Por 15 and thought this was a good time to start it. If you ever use Por15 it can get everywhere easily so make sure your bundled up and wearing a mask have proper covering for the area you plan to paint.

I have about 6 hours of video so far with a go Pro but I am not sure how to edit the video to make it enjoyable to watch. So I'm still figuring it out as I go and will post once I upload it.
