I'm buying a honda del sol! Ask me anything!

Great car! I had a manual CRX Si-R when I lived in Japan, and I loved it. Revved to like 9000 RPM and a great car to learn to drive on.

The power rear window and t-tops were really unique.

I’m not a car person, but this thread and seeing the progress is pretty cool. Thanks for the updates.

Have to admit, this thread also reminded me of my white Honda CRX...loved that car.

I wanted one of these when I was a teenager. My friends father worked at the Honda dealership in Philadelphia. He always brought home loaner cars from the dealership so it made me like Honda vehicles a lot. It was the 1991 Del Sol and CRX were my wants back then.

Crx is my favorite honda followed by the Del Sol. I started driving in the 90s. My brother would drive me to school in a crx. So lots of memories.

That's gross.
I was born in the 80s its a legitimate question ... Thank god you said no.

I'm actually a little jealous. I did a little dirt track racing in the 4 cylinder front wheel drive class... I had a 1983 Plymouth colt... Slowest car on the track... However I avoided all the pile ups. And normally came in like 5th or 6th... Not bad for a 20 car race...

The winner was a delsol every time! Had an integra motor too!

Also I knew some very hot chicks in the 90s that owned those cars and oh boy did I ever want to get in ... And not to drive either.

I see a few still driving around... Mostly owned by latino guys... Who do unfortunately lower them paint them stupid, sticker them with crazy stuff and buy obnoxious wheels.

And of course when they go by.... Its fart tastic

So I spent the weekend sanding the removing rust on the undercarriage and painted it with POR15. I also finished painting the suspension subframe with POR15. So after it dries I'll be reassembling next week.

I'm about 3 weeks from removing the rear quarter panels and working on the the rust for that but I have to install a pool for the kids so we will see if i get it done in the next 3 weeks or not. :D I should have it rolling again by Sunday this week though.

I would love to have a friend like you irl just hang out and work on cars and learn from you. I wonder if you'd be the type not to want that though and have people out of your way lol

I would love that to be honest. The friend I had that like cars moved away. I'm mostly alone doing this shit now.

Made some progress and got the suspension back together with big brakes. Went from 9.5 inch rotors in front to 11 inch mini cooper rotors and integra type r front brakes (yes i know but it works on a honda go figure) and then converted from Drum to disc brakes from a acura integra. The front brakes barely clear but look awesome. The car is going to stop on a dime which to be honest in the past was pretty sketchy for me when I ran the 1/4 mile in my old crx.
Next will be painting engine bay as so I can put the motor in. I'm still waiting on passenger side rear quarter panel to be shipped. So that will probably be more toward july-august.

New Rear Disc Brakes from Acura Integra. Also pressed in new hubs and bearings

New Front Brakes from Integra type r calipier, mini cooper rotor on a civic ex spindle. New hub and bearings also pressed in.

Looking good. I still have to sand the rims and paint them but that will happen later. At least I know the rim clears the brakes.

I love this thread, and I love this project. Mad props, bruv. I'm a fellow gear head, but never had the chance to do a major project like this. Mostly just did aftermarket mods to my 2001 Toyota MR-S. I need to buy a house first, and then I can outfit my garage. I'll be doing bike work though. I don't have much use for a car anymore, where I live now. I want to do some cafe racer and bobber/brat builds.

This project is coming along nicely, looks like you just barely cleared the rim there ha. Big fan of Wagner's too, good choice. But I'm sure you knew that eh
