We found out my wife's pregnant a couple weeks ago and we're very excited. If everything goes good, the due date will be in November around Thanksgiving. I can't tell anyone yet so you're the first to know GAF.

It's crazy, I joined this forum 12 or 13 years ago when I was bored at a summer internship back when I was in college, and now I'm married with a kid on the way. Time flies.

Yeah it's been around a month or so since we were together, glad to see the little guys still got it. Make sure to forward some of those tax credits my way.

That's dope though, congrats!

I also just wanna say, not that it's the first time I've realized it, but I really enjoy this community. I don't know any of you personally, yet I'm here literally every day to see your posts (and shitposts), engage, debate, share jokes, and everything else. So although this is a "livejournal" thread, it's some life news that I'm genuinely happy to share with y'all.

I remember what GAF was like pre-SJW craziness (and I don't frame it that way to polarize, I just don't know any other way to describe it) and I remember what it was like in the immediate aftermath when there was far less activity and I frankly didn't know if it'd survive. And I think it's better now than ever before. ❤️

Congrats. Just had my first in October. It’s a massive, massive life change. I’m still coming to grips with it.

Do your best to support your wife and learn how to comfort the baby, feed it, and put it to sleep ASAP. The sooner you jump in with that stuff, the easier the adjustment will be on both of you and the more “in control” you will feel over this tiny creature that may otherwise scare the hell out of you. Also, taking over a few night feedings will make your wife a much happier person.

Dude! Congrats!!!!! It’s the best thing ever!! My
2 kids are my world! My son just turned 3 yesterday, And my daughter is 5. You will not believe how much you actually love someone til you see your child for the first time.

Big congrats to you and the misses mate. Just remember to enjoy the ride, smile and laugh together at the literal shit you'll go through. First couple/few years are hard work but very much rewarding AF.

Pick up your dad card when you exit the hospital, pun required for access. Also you're on GAF, we expect you to raise your children right, start with the classic games and work their skills up from there.

What will be your stance towards video games and your children. I think do not inflict this curse on the young ones.
I think we'll do our best to limit screen time in general. I'll introduce them to games eventually but will be sprinkled around other stuff

Congrats, having kids was the hardest thing I ever did. And it was REALLY hard, not that I'm a bad father but because kids pulled out all the things that were lingering with my spouse that were left unsaid but were there, simmering in the background. It may sound rough but the kids eventually put the nail in the coffin for my marriage.
On the brighter side of things kids help remind you what it was like being a kid, Christmas mornings, going and playing in the park, snuggling and watching a movie. Having a hard day at work and them there waiting for you by the door to give you a hug and remind you that no matter how shitty your day might have been, you're still the best thing in the world to them. Being a parent is awesome.
You get what you put into it, be there for them, even when sometimes it feels overwhelming, it will pay off in spades when it comes to building a lifelong relationship with them.

Hardest thing you'll ever do. But absolutely worth it. Remember the "worth it" part when you'll start getting ideas about throwing the little thing out the window.
Congrats man! Agree here newborns are tough helpless little mole rats that honestly get taken out of the womb too soon so if you have willing nearby grandparents take advantage as much as possible. Once they get to about 3-6 months they are so much more fun :)

We had our daughter just shy of five years ago the day after thanksgiving. It will be one of the best things you will ever do and be a part of. It's very fulfilling and every day I look at my daughter and smile.

Congratulations to the OP, but this thread has been dormant since March. Why the sudden six month thread bump?
