I used to live in Grand Forks. Fargo's not that bad. It's a city of about 90,000 people, so there is some stuff to do there. It has some really cool restaurants, be sure to check out Paradiso whenever you get the chance. Yes, it gets very, very cold in the winter, but the summers are very nice. You get used to the weather. Also, Minneapolis/St. Paul is only a short 3 hours away, and there is TONS to do around there.

I don't know if it's a winter wasteland, but it is kind of funny looking. In a general sort of way.
