Yay!

One question though, is there any uhh major consequences from the choices you make in game and how often you use the rune of punishment?

IIRC:

at one point:
youll be asked if you want to kill or exile Snowe, if you choose to kill him you cant recruit him later.

as for the rune, I used it whenever I wanted :P

There are a few major consequences to the decisions you make but it'll be obvious to you which one is the important ones. Using the rune of punishment throughout the game won't affect much of anything except your HP.

Well I'm not far in, but there's only been one time I was asked ot use it or not. When I said no.. it would just keep looping back to the decision... so I'm curious if it effects anything or not.

If you want all 108 stars don't ever think about killing Snowe!

Oh, there are two premature endings in the game. They are fun to watch and you can go on with your saved game afterwards. So if the option has something to do with resign choose it multiple times to get the endings.

Yeah, that's one of my problems with the game (I'm one of the few that really enjoyed it though, but a good chunk of that reasoning is my love of Suikoden). It doesn't hold your hand (good), but it doesn't even give you a nudge in the right direction.

I guess they want you just to explore. Can't figure out what to do next? go explore somewhere.

I got seriously frustrated last night on it, and no access to net at my place so couldn't figure out where I needed to go

Just visited the pirate hideout for the first time and had those guys sign up. So i get back in the boat, and guy tells me to check out the forbidden room. I'm searching FOREVER for some forbidden room that cues some story line... all I find is the mushroom guy (which turns out is the forbidden room) and think nothing of it). Then I go to nay search around everywhere can't find jack shit cause the story continuation is a freaking bottle on the beach some where..... bastards

So far the game is good, but it hasn't fullfilled my main attraction to the suikoden games.... the characters. So far most characters seem pretty damn boring.

You can also miss the cats. Make sure you get them before you return the Royal Insignia or you can't get them at all

Fucks... well luckily I had lots of saves just incase they pulled this crap. Got a save right before taking back razril..... so Guess I only lost 4 hours. Same goes for the stupid cats

You can't recruit the character after
The Liberation of Obel
(not sure if this is a spoiler to you or not. I think it's near the end)

So as long as your not past that point. Continue on.

I'm past that point.

Mitsuba was pretty awesome. My personal favorite was probably Helmut. Despite being a pretty boy, he was good at magic and quite strong, plus his unite with Sigurd and Hervey was pretty cool. Also, he had a very cool story.

Still, few characters seem to live up to the better cahracters from 1-3. I liked the character design, but there was not as much distinction between the characters in battle due to the simplified system. Hopefully some will return for part 5 and be fleshed out like the minor characters from 1 who returned in 2 as major characters.

I loved part 4, but it probably is the weakest in the series overall. Still, it has the richest feeling setting, and I loved being immersed so fully in a world that I have been a fan of for some time.

Suiko 4 is the weakest of the Suikodens (even if I hate Suiko3) but it is a little underrated in its "Suikoden-ness". It does an amazing job of hitting what Suikoden feels and should be like (in terms of story and feel) which is better than the mess that Suiko3 was IMO.

Need to find a better fourth member.

Currently have: Jeane, Mitsuba, Paula.

Paula is good as middle between magic (good for healping Jeane) and attack, but I was hoping to find someone slightly better. That and she's really boring.

So far i'm liking Suiko 3 better than 4. Again because my big pull to suikoden is the characters... and suiko 4 just seems to lack good ones. The hero is... well come on I know they tried to make him the classic "put yourself here" guy... but fuck he's boring. Not many of the characters have great personality... especially the ones that's always in my damn cutscenes (paula, jewel).

Gedou's Gang, Hugo, Chris have totally blown away all the personalities thus far in this game.

There's like no backstory to ANY of them... well 'cept Ted.

I tried getting into Suikoden 4 but the sailing really got me mad. All of those invisible walls. I would rather go through the same dungeon four times like in Suikoden 3 than sail and hit something that I cannot see.

Oh and the 4 characters in battle is LAME

I tried getting into Suikoden 4 but the sailing really got me mad.

I was pretty disappointed with that too, luckily the developer's felt pity for the players and give you Viki pretty damn quickly..

The Invisible walls were borders for certain zones really. They wouldn't allow you to ram into the islands so they created that really awful auto-correction that was annoying. Still dumb but I can see why they did it.

Snowe, Hero,
Ted
, and Kika was my team.

Snowe and Hero's True Friendship Attack II is the best unite in the game. It's absolutely amazing.

Ted with his Judgement attack

...and Kika with Falcon Rune.

Just beat it

The ending was WEAK, the whole thing. The battle..... the conclusion... I'm not sure what the fuck happened and they didn't really give you a whole lot there.

I seriously need to find Suiko 1 cause I don't remember
Ted
at all. Also I barely played 2.... and I believe that's what's considered the best in the series?

If you want to play it ever again, try Frederica. Hot/cool archer. Also, Kika is very useful since she has a combo attack with hero.

As for
Ted, he was just the guy who gave the Suiko 1 main character his Soul Eater rune, sacrificing himself in the process.

My end team was Maxine (awesome), Jeane, and Mitsuba.

Flame Array FTW.

Enjoy battling seaweed OVER & OVER AGAIN! This game has one of the worst enemy designs ever! Suikoden III comes close with its carrot enemies though.
