Doubt it. Las Vegas is just the easiest logistically as a West Coast based subsidiary. Vegas is also one the best conference cities--they have 3 of the biggest conference centers in the US.

Personally I don't think this affects E3 a ton, mostly because of the timing. Six months apart is a lot of time, so naturally there would be publishers with announcements/footage etc ready to show in December that they weren't ready to show in June. I think there is room for both.

Also it's clear that not every big publisher was ready or down for this given the lack of EA/Activision/Take-Two/Ubisoft presence in general.
 
This is a great idea from Sony. This way they can have a lot off attention during the holiday season with new announcements.

Las Vegas is only about a 4 hour drive for me. I might go next year.
 
I hope Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Keighley all have events in the same week like a winter E3 type of thing.

Here's what I'd like to see...

Thursday Night - Inside Xbox Event / X15
Friday Morning/Afternoon - Nintendo Direct
Friday Night - The Game Awards
Saturday - PlayStation Experience

I'd be so hyped
 
I would like to see Nintendo have something similar every year, but smaller and with a focus on playable demos.
 
I hope this doesn't put too much pressure on dev team who have make so many deferent demo for different venue.

Is it really the same thing though? Or are you just comparing the awards show to the keynote stream? Even those two are kind of different really. I don't see how a streamed awards show = a 2 day Sony based mini e3 that non gaming media gamers can attend.

I would love it if Nintendo did something similar personally.

They're going to have to better work out their distribution of it. I was somewhat amused they didn't even have it on their own live event view app. Twitch is a good partner for some stuff, but that macro-blocked, low bitrate, chugging stream is not friendly when a good part of your interactive medias appeal is visual fidelity.

Get the bit streams up, and create a dedicated APP across the platforms to boot up.

I loved the interviews that went well after the keynote, but it also be nice to have second streams of the large panels, even archived. I watched quite a bit of it, and thought "It's too bad this wasn't what G4 did back in the day".
 
It's like a Nintendo Direct and E3 mixed into one. I dig it, but I fear it will make E3 even more dead, although Sony has a lot of studios so maybe not.
 
Aside from the keynote, it's also an event like PAX where gamers get together and enjoy and celebrate PlayStation right?

Why are there so many comparisons to Nintendo Directs? It's not like the future PSX will exclude the gaming community part right? This is could be big.
 
This is great news! Hopefully they change cities every year though, because I'd really like to go next year. From what I've been hearing it turned out to be a pretty fantastic event all around.

Don't invite Square Enix back. It's for their own good.
 
now we got one more event to add to the annual "wait for" pleas from TLG fans.

"Wait for E3, TGS, Jump Fiesta, PAX Prime, Playstation Experience 2016!"
 
It makes so much sense. The other conferences ate so grouped together that you either have to rush or delay AAA announcements. Plus, you can control information flow a lot better at your own event.

Because you need more than one event a year to show stuff off. It can't just be PSX and none of the other events, unless there will be multiple PSX's a year.

Agreed. They didn't announce or unveil a brand new AA game that would be a holiday cornerstone ala Killzone or Uncharted. If their focusis smaller titles and indies and 3rd parties then that would work as well.
 
Awesome, loved the event. I feel like a Sony based event at this time of every year would be beneficial to them.

Exactly. Look at how successful something like BlizzCon is. If the company has enough to show, and they can afford it, having their own conference is a great thing.

PSX is about fans getting a chance to interact with the games. It's not really a media event. Probably why there weren't many big announcements. E3 is still the media hub.
 
It's a good time of the year to have it for me, not sure they'll be able to sustain the number of game announcements through PSX, E3, TGS and GamesCom.
