I wouldn't want it in every game, but I think it should again be acceptable in Western media. Now, it seems like any developer could get immense backlash if they sexualize women anyway in thier game. The best character to bring it back would be Lara.

As others pointed out there is a right place for every aesthetic and sexual 'tone' in games, books or any media. Out of place anything could be distasteful, cringe or worst.

It has been the best-selling console game for three generations straight, it has three male protagonists that range from totally average to offensively ugly and literally nobody has ever made a thread anywhere on the internet asking why they aren't chiseled, square-jawed twenty-somethings. That was the just world we lived in back then in the 90s and 2000s. Everything had to be edgy and needed to push the limits. Every industry wanted to be like Howard Stern and attract people through either shock value or over the top portrayals of people’s vices and desires.

Why can’t we have a sexual content switch?
I think AC Valhalla had that. Not sure what that content was though since I hated the game and never finished it. AC Origin had topless women though so maybe it was something like that.

Exactly. Can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing a proud girl in painted on gym tights showing off her big booty. (It’s great) And in games (western) devs try to shave off any bigger booty and let the characters wear pants that don’t show the curves and make them nearly look like men.

In retrospective, it's funny we saw those poorly rendered 3d models and found then "hot". I won't deny they existed, but I don't think gaming is worse because they are not prevalent.

Like with everything, there is always an over correction. We went from having female characters in games that were more attractive than 90% of women to now being less attractive than 90% of women. In the minds of game designers, real women must look like oblivion NPCs.
