What do you think "your gaming" will look like in the second half of 2020s?

Myself, before anything else, I see myself still dedicated to Honkai Impact 3rd - I mean, gameplay is okay, but most of all, I really love the story spanning thousands of years, characters and their struggles with time (among other things), drama, and interactions between them.

It's difficult to explain this to others, especially since there are many gacha / always online haters here (for the record, I haven't spent any money so far on HI3), but this is the story, and voice acting of the highest order, at least, IMO.

It is almost insane how much they are developing every major character - I know that a lot of that simply has to do with keeping the players glued to the game, but at least for me, that is a positive thing.

This is the kind of game that doesn't have any right to be this good.

--------------

Other than that, I would really like to get into some major franchises, or series that either only played only very few games, or none, but know that they are big things.

In my case, frankly, a lot of them I simply haven't even tried because life happened, and I had to choose some other things.

Castlevania, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, character action games, I haven't even played any major Soulslike (well, HI3 does seem to have battles similar to it, I guess), Jak and Daxter...

In fact, it would be more precise to say that I wish to check out many titles from Capcom, Konami, Naughty Dog, etc.

Atlus games, even Fire Emblem interests me, even though I'm not much into those kinds of titles, TRPGs.

...

I don't wanna type anymore.

Once you find that one gacha game that truly delivers fun gameplay, rewarding pulls and just the right amount of grind, it becomes incredibly hard to stay away. It also quickly turns into a habit you don't want to break

I've been playing DBZ Dokkan Battle for a couple of years now, and it still checks all the boxes for what I want in a gacha game. I've been extremely lucky with my summons over the years which definitely helps keep the hype alive. I do wish the OT was a bit more active, though itd be great to have more people to share the highs (and occasional shafting)

1. Build a bespoke living room PC
2. Buy more portable machines
3. Finally get into more grand strategy games, CK3 awakened a hunger I didn't know I had.
4. Getting the wife even more into gaming, she's evolved to the point where she's having a blast with Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire. With time I'll corrupt her enough to become a full blown gamer. ❤️

What will I buy or get for Christmas this year?
Probably Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta, Expedition 33, and Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered.

Other than that, backlog. FF7 Remake/Rebirth, maybe Cyberpunk if the Pro patch comes out.
Lunar 1 & 2 Remastered.

Good choice about Expedition 33. Play FF7 remake/rebirth before though, dialogue is so cringe after playing Expedition 33.

Probably going to be playing (replaying) the PC versions of my favorites from the PS1/PS2/PS3 eras. I also just setup Retroarch with Retro Achievements so I'll be doing achievement hunts in basically every era of gaming so.. I think I'll be good 😊.

Shooters dominate my gaming rotation, yes open world games are apart of it, all of the big exclusives, need a good horror game, a lot of story driven game and 100 % classics.

Once the slew of action games that I am waiting for release, things could improve vastly for me. A few gems aside here and there, gaming has been abysmal and desperate for me for a long time now.

Lost Soul Aside
Tides of Annihilation
Ninja Gaiden 4
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Phantom Blade Zero

Probably the only thing that will change is eventually playing on the Switch 2 and maybe I'll buy less games in the coming years, depends on the subscription services and how they'll change in the future.

Otherwise I play a little bit of everything and on every platform:

Gamepass on the Series X and PC
Free games from the Epic Store
I buy mostly Indies on Steam
Nintendo exclusives on the Switch (eventually on Switch 2)
Nowadays I buy most AAAs for PS5 Pro and I sometimes play free stuff from PS Plus
Occasionally some F2P games with friends
And I also have a bunch of Emulators setup for when want to play Retro games

Even less from Sony, more from Nintendo. The PS5 started out pretty good but has overall been a disaster IMO and especially their so-called exclusives.

Probably more indies too for me. And the Oblivion remaster on PC.

Capcom and FromSoft games. More remakes from RE, SH to FFIX. GTA VI and GTA Online. FFVII Part 3. And going through my backlog still, which is extensive. Which I'd enjoy on (relatively) powerful handhelds and maining PC - no more consoles. I can wait 1-2 years for PS releases.

And my yearly CoD fix and CS for multiplayer. Hopefully with CS3 alongside Half-Life 3.

I want to try to get into more narrative driven titles with less emphasis on action. Visual novels, point and click adventures, some FMVS, hybrid VNs, puzzle, RPG stuff.
I'm almost burned out on pure action/sports/racing games for now. I won't abandon them completely though.

Probably jusy stay the way i am. I'll upgrade my PC again in 2 or 3 years, ready for the next gen consoles and games requirng better hardware.

I'll keep playing what i want, which is a bit of everything. I live on my own so i can play what i want when i want.

PC/Switch 2 and occasionally ps5/6 with a hint of VR

A change of pace from my early 20's being:
PC/Switch 1 and occasionally ps4/5 with a hint of VR

Lots of Fatal Fury since Andy finally comes out this month.

Other than that Death Stranding 2 and Silent Hill f. I don't expect much out of silent hill but I'd like to be surprised.

I'm hoping Dragonball the Breakers can stabilize but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make through the roadmap.

PC and switch only as Playstation and Xbox continue to devalue their own consoles to the point I'll never buy them again.

PC as my main mainly GamePass + big AAA games. Switch 2 / PS5 for their exclusives. Might skip PS6 unless the kids want one. If it launches with Astro Bot and it is not day 1 on PC then I am in.

Lots of Nintendo. I think they'll have a steadier output of exclusives than Sony. If we surprisingly get RDR3 then it too will be taking up most of my gaming time. I'm not very much for the GTA series, but the cowboy life fits me to a T.
