Indie World announced for August 7

TBF, cozy games fandom is hugh on Nintendo, those are some of the gaming communities that we tend to not care about here but they're very dedicated
I know that people often cant play the same game forever but what are these "cozy games" doing that Stardew Valley didn't? Feel like that game made the genre (spare me the "but akshully harvest moon") and nothing else has come close.

I literally just bought UFO 50 on PC despite wanting it for Switch, so I'm sure they'll shadow drop it this week just to spite me.

My sacrifice is your gain.
FUCK.

You're welcome everyone.

A few games might be interesting. I was grinding DKB so I wasn't fully paying attention but the ball pit game and the bird metroidvania stuck out.

Also Mina.

wow that was terrible lol

Nintendo need to hurry up with there first party direct , cause at min I've spent £500 just to play donkey kong, with nothing much else for rest of yr looking like a purchase , even cancelled two switch 2 games I had preordered as realised there key game cards and digital download and then ordered the ps5 version instead on disc

For only being 15 minutes I didn't think it was that bad. I'm definitely gonna get a few of those games. The partner direct was worse than this.

Mina is looking good.

How is UFO 50?
It's really good, although the quality varies greatly from game to game.

IMO the best ones (the submarine game, the Maniac Mansion lookalike, the sidescroller minigolf and the party management) would be worth the price of the game on their own.

Same. But with Mario Kart World. Theres literally nothing announced so far that interests me. Starting to mildly regret the purchase at this point.

I thought it was pretty good, people always have weird expectations for these Indie World's.

These looked excellent:

Mina the Hollower
Well Dweller
Ball X Pit (I played the demo on Steam, it's a banger)
Neverway
Glaciered
UFO 50 shadow drop

Ball X Pit looked super fun.

  • Mina the Hollower looks great. Best trailer yet. 10/31 with a demo today.
  • Well Dweller, next game from the creator of Crypt Custodian Roberts Roberts . 2026 release.
  • Neverway looks super dark. At least seems to have some potential. 2026.
  • Herdling Aug 21st. Already had my eye on that one. Gamepass day 1 game.
  • Ball x Pitt we already knew about from E3 Devolver show. Looks like it has potential. Oct 15th. Probably will get lost in the flood of October games.
  • Glaciered, and Is This Seat Taken both look pretty meh.
  • Winter Burrow has nice art. GP game. Winter 2025.
  • Caves of Qud looks very interesting. Super weird looking. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one. Never seen anything like it.
  • UFO 50 out today is a great drop.
I thought it was a decent direct actually, though a lot of these have been shown off at previous shows. C+

This Direct was boring
not a Direct. These are usually highly variable based on personal taste. They do a good job of managing expectations on Indie Worlds, and yet still many people find a way to be disappointed. Obviously an impossible battle. I think the trick with Indie Worlds is to not watch them live, just view the highlights of what looks interesting to you.

Thank you for your sacrifice.

Two more directs and still no MP4 or Silksong release dates. My goodness gracious.
Why would the Metroid Prime 4 release date be announced in a Partner Showcase or an Indie World?
I didn't expect it. I was not remotely surprised they weren't announced.
Ah, so you were just drive-by shitposting. Got it.

Anyway, maybe my expectations were just in the fucking basement after that Partner Showcase, but I thought this was pretty good? I immediately wishlisted UFO 50 and Herdling after the show and many of the other games could be potential sale pickups if they review well. There was a lot more genre variety than usual too. Cozy games and metroidvanias were only like a quarter of the titles shown instead of being the whole fucking show. It also didn't have much filler. Solid B for me.
