Indivisible: Valkyrie Profile/Metroid, Indiegogo, PC/Mac/Linux/PS4/XB1 -- funded!

When they refunded me my old tier for my upgrade, it took about 3 days for the old tier to actually process back to my Credit Card, but that may vary by bank.

Yeah, just upgraded up to the $125 (+$15 shipping) T-shirts tier, and I got the £50 from the previous backing in my PayPal account pretty much immediately. Withdrew it to my bank account, so that should be in my account by the morning.

Huh, if you have an account you should be able to upgrade?

Might want to ask CS first, just in case, but because of the way PayPal works they'd have to charge you for the whole second tier at once and not just the difference.

Well, with the campaign so close to ending, I don't want to rely on CS turnaround. I think I'll just refund and back again. I don't mind being charged for the whole second tier, so long as I'll get the original refund.

I love climbing the wall after the statue boss. I find myself replaying the prototype over and over again just to redo the climb, then just jumping off and doing it again. It's one of the most satisfying platforming sequences I've played in a long time.

A fate worse than death. You're trapped in a metaphysical construct...somewhere, only released to be forced into battle against horrific creatures

I played the prototype on the PS4 and at the time I couldn't for the life of me find out how to progress beyond the second "temple" and the first time you encounter the giant green roll-y.. thing? Are the PS4 and PC demo different, or am I just dense?

The game is the same across all ports. Just keep attacking, guard, abuse the meter, heal everyone, rinse and repeat.

As in, you couldn't beat the enemy, or you couldn't find the path?

As in I couldn't find the path. I killed the green roll-y thing after my entire party just.. disappeared? Not sure if it's a bug. But he died, anyway. And I couldn't figure out where to go next, so I just assumed he was the last part.
I suppose that is wrong.

Did you have the axe by that point?

So, having done some math, I guess if I want to be there for when the campaign ends, I'll need to be up before 8:00 am on Saturday.

Alright then.

I did. But I just found a video and realized you can use the axe for climbing. Whatttt. Did I skip some kind of intro on this? I'm a fool.

When you first picked up the axe, there was an on-screen message pop-up saying something about how you could use the axe to traverse the environment in new ways.

Some people do miss that you can use the axe to climb stuff. I've seen many streamers not catch that too.
There's a hint to help you at that part in the form of an axe lodged into the wall way off the ground, but plenty of people still miss it.

Amazing fan art

Maybe the GOAT scene in all of video games.

the best part is how he turns into PeeWee Herman like halfway through the "FOOOOOOOOOR"

Seems like now that people know it's going to be funded, they're opening the wallets.

Remember that the indiegogo method isn't the most appealing for folks. Upgrading perks is a pain, and having the money taken out from the start for something that might not get made also scares off folks.

Heck it scared me. I'd rather the money get taken out at the end, but I can see the pros of doing it before.

There's also an axe lodged into the wall by where you find it which is supposed to be a non-verbal hint on how to use your new shiny toy.

I fucking loved this and hope that it's how they plan to communicate in-game cues throughout instead of blatant tutorials.

Since I'm still here doing the wall climb after the statue boss over and over for fun, I decided to upload a video of me doing it without any mistakes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux_IVstJlbk

When I first tried to do this yesterday, it took me 10 minutes for just the first part. The next jump is easy, but then the part after that (getting to the highest part on the right) easily took me another 30 minutes of attempts.

Now I can do it this smoothly and I love that even in just this prototype there's a sense of mastery and progression (of personal skill).

Checked the IGG at 18h45 EST, it's at 1.6m

Are we actually hitting that stretch goal before the day ends?

seems like it might be hit late at night tonight. Longer soundtrack is good enough. I don't know if it'll reach the 1.9 million at this pace unless word gets out at the last day for the last couple of hours.

Plus if you hit start (or "options") and check "How to play" there's a message directly explaining how to climb with the axe... xD My friend streamer missed that too though, I had to explain it to him.

I guess I'm just used to games actually spelling out what x and y is used for, so I just assumed the same here. I am a fool, though, I get it.

Never really played one of these "metroidvania" games, so the movement and exploration is quite new to me.

Wow really? There's so common nowadays. Not meant to be rude, just find it curious how you avoided the entire genre till now

I get the same type of comments when I say I've never played a Mario or Zelda game. I just was never interested in a game that used that structure, I guess. I mean, I don't play everything out there. Sadly. I've even yet to play Undertale!

Not all readers and fans of magical realism have read Murakami, nor all poetry fanatics have read Sassoons (amazing) diaries.

Going to go in for the $60 Physical tier once I get my deposit at midnight tonight. Glad I'm getting money in before it's over.

Neither have I, so you're not alone
Never had a Nintendo system

The moment I went from "Hey this is cool and inclusive" to "I'm backing this" has to be when I got the hang of axe-climbing. Everything just kinda clicked.

Before that I was relatively confounded by the battle system - having never played Valkyrie Profile before - surely enough though, I eventually got the hang of that too.

I just hope the story matches/exceeds the quality of what we've been able to play so far

I've been gaming since the Mega Drive and I've never really played a true Metroid or Castlevania before either. Dunno why it just fell like that. I got into this because of the Valkyrie Profile themes and jumped right into and had fun with the battle system. I felt right at gome straightaway. I happened to enjoy the platforming and actually looked up Metroidvania's afterwards. I backed Bloodstained on a whim really after playing this prototype.

I don't include the Metroid Prime games in the above. Was more talking about the 2D ones.
