Infamous Second Son has gone gold

I generally don't go on media blackouts for games, but with Second Son I think I will. I just don't want to know what the other power sets are until I discover them myself. I've only ever ordered one collector's edition, and that was for inFAMOUS 2, so I could get that great Sly Cooper backpack. Second Son is my second collector's edition, and I got it for that stupid beanie. Unfortunately, Amazon has it's expected delivery date as the 25th, not the 21st, so I'm kind of worried I'll have some stuff spoiled before I can get to it. I'll probably avoid the inFAMOUS OT here, and as much of FB/Twitter as I can. It never fails that someone on GAF spills the beans, even inadvertently, though either not using spoiler tags, or incorrectly using them.

I don't particularly care about story spoilers, but power spoilers will be a big one for me. We already knew about Ice and Napalm for Cole in inFAMOUS 2, so that wasn't a problem.

Pretty happy about the no day/night cycle since there will still be various times of day. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE day/night cycles, but NOT in a heavily story-based game. I feel like those need to have some sort of artistic direction going on.

i really liked how GTA 5 would fast forward the day/night cycle before a mission. More games need to do this, the cutscenes and missions just make more sense at the correct time.

I don't care about the day/night cycle thing. They tend to do it to set the mood for story missions, so that's fine, and often, the story has an internal timeline that could be thrown out of whack with a day/night cycle. inFAMOUS 2 had the Beast slowly making its way to New Marais, and if you had an infinite day/night cycle, it would eventually get kind of absurd as to why he didn't show up already. Lol.

It'd be neat if, after you cleared story mode, the tod cycle was unlocked.

I don't care either way. I just want the fucking game in my PS4 already.

That's very disappointing.

Not if you played the previous inFamous games, they were both pretty explicit about the lack of a continuous day/night cycle.

I'm OK with the lack of one. Most day/night cycles in open-world games are poorly done. It's not possible to make the world look good in every possible lighting condition, at night especially. Every time the time of day changed in I2 I went "damn". Every ToD's detail was honed far beyond the quality of any dynamic day/night system.

The worst is going to a mission in day and having the game instantly turn into night or vice-versa. Some games make a transition animation of time but still does't make sense. What does that mean exactly? That the main character stood at your location for hours on end?

Finishing such a huge project like this game should be the greatest and most satisfactory feeling in the world. Congratulations Sucker Punch!

Lots of people are hype for this game. It looks amazing. But I'm not hype for it since I haven't played the previous game. I don't know what I'm expecting. I'm getting a ps4 when the show comes out hopefully I could pick infamous up for under regular retail price

The constant time-lapses like this in GTA V absolutely killed me

As for inFamous! BOOM! :D Not long now guys! I'm currently playing through inFamous 2 in preparation, after finishing the first, really digging them both. Is Festival of Blood worth picking up? Is it canon to the main story? No spoilers please :)

Yeah... I'm going to go ahead and call shenanigans.

If Second Son had a dymanic day/night system I find it impossible to believe anyone would complain. I don't see how not witnessing time actually pass from day to night and back to day again is not immersion breaking in an open world game, while having the game speed up to a certain time is.

Lets hope the game is as good as it looks. So far infamous is one of my favorite series.

Who would have guessed that second son releases before Watchdogs and Driveclub - at least it looks like it :D

I can't wait! I remember playing the inFamous demo the morning before I got married to kind of relax a bit. I don't know if that's sad or funny. Probably a bit of both. I'm a fan of the series.

i wish that tweet was about gameplay accomplishments instead of effects... really want this game to be good. otherwise i probably won't bother with ps4 til christmas.

If done right ToD cycles can go a long way in pulling you into the world. I prefer it in my sandbox games. But I guess that's the thing, Infamous is more of an action/adventure game set in a big city.

Always nice to hear about a game like this going gold. Makes the wait so much worse though, knowing it is ready for public consumption but you just can't access it yet.

I think it is common for a bunch of extra staff to be fired at the end of development so yes.
At the end of pre-production too. Really throughout the process. This is something creatives know going in.

inFAMOUS: Second Son $570 PS4 Bundle Instantly Tops GameStop’s Best Sellers; Titanfall Bundle 23rd

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/02...nstantly-tops-gamestops-best-sellers-ranking/

The package, that includes the console, the game, an additional DualShock 4 controller and one year of PlayStation Plus membership for the not exactly cheap price of $569.96, basically instantly jumped to the top of the retailer’s best sellers charts,

To offer a term of comparison, Titanfall‘s Xbox One bundle that was made available yesterday is ranked 23d. The two bundles will also be released in a similar timeframe, and will probably be the major contenders,

This kind of success for the bundle is quite interesting, especially considering the price, that basically doesn’t offer any savings compared to purchasing all the items included by themselves. I actually wonder if this means that GameStop expects the PS4 to be still hard to find come March 21st.

whaaaaat.

Even as big sony fan. TF is going to destroy SS in next gen comparison . Problem is hardware itself is like a disease. But TF will sell ton.

Amazon best of 2014 has TF already in top 18 while SS is at 72. TF will sell ton but won't change tide on hardware
it is on 3 platforms, of course it's gonna sell more.

Well it being multi-plat will def. help for sure. That said, I won't be picking it up(at least initially) for my Xbone for a while. If I were, it'd be for PC. I'm so glad inFamous is almost here I haven't played an actual game on my PS4 or Xbone in over a month with the exception of a few matches of the Titanfall "beta". I'm ready to let these brothers stretch their legs.

How does Amazon track Best Sellers?
I am seeing MGS ahead of every games.
I would thought that TF>MGS>SS in preorders for March.

Awesome.

But I have feeling this game won't fair well on reviews.

Btw, what's the OT title?

Won't fair well? Really? It's not going to have a 95 metacritic but I think the gameplay will go far and it'll probably have an 83 on metacritic. I can live with this.

Please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good.

There's never been that much hype from the press on this game like you see from other well-reviewed games like Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us. I'm worried the game won't review very well. Not poorly, just kind of average. I hope to be surprised, though. Really, none of us know very much about this game at all, so who knows how its going to end up. I'm just hoping for the best as somebody who thought Infamous 1 and 2 were good games, and as a fan of Sucker Punch.

I don't think it will either. A lot of people seem to be expecting more than inFamous 3 and are down on the game because of that. Oh well, that's exactly why I'm excited.

I loved inFamous 1 and 2 and I am expecting that with better cutscenes and better graphics.

I think the rest of the world is expecting the first true next-gen game in everything from gameplay up and it will probably suffer a pretty huge backlash when it comes out. Oh well, not gonna enjoy it any less for other people's expectations.

It won't review well if the game isn't good. There isn't a conspiracy here.

I don't think there is a conspiracy. But generally you hear a lot of positivity about a game that goes on to be well-received. Which makes sense. Most games don't get really average to mundane previews and then get amazing review scores.

I don't even know what that means, "more than inFamous 3". If this game can come close to the brilliance of the first one with a dash of the second, it will be magnificent :D

Polygon gave the last of us a 7.5.

And that was easily one of the best games last year.
Who gives a shit about Polygon, they get less hits than Giantbomb for fucks sake. lol.

It was well received at E3, the reason you're not really hearing it is probably because of a NDA or lack of preview builds or some dumb bull shit.
