inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Got this game today for €35 from dvd.co.uk, and I loved the demo so I intend to play it both ways and Platinum it. Can anybody give me the essential points to know in order to achieve that in only two playthroughs? I mean shards, XP, upgrades, karma... I gathered I should play bad then good, but other than that... Thanks!

I would just suggest to be consistent with the good/evil thing as far as the themed missions go. Other than that you can pretty much do whatever you want. I would suggest just enjoying your first playthrough and not worry about trophies too much. You can save your completed game and go back to it after your second playthrough if you need to.
I did the stunts on my second playthrough - hard difficulty doesn't make pulling them off much harder and they don't get in the way of your general enjoyment the first time around. Just make sure to do them as early as possible so you have lots of enemies to do them with.

I happened to do it this way and enjoyed it:
1st playthrough (good): dead drops, all side missions, lots of shards
2nd playthrough (evil): hard mode, stunts, only evil side missions, pretty much rushed through, grinded a bit after completion to get the last upgrade I needed.
Loaded 1st playthrough save and got the rest of the shards.

I read the stunts are easier when you're playing good, so I supposedly was at a disadvantage doing them on evil, but I didn't notice that very much. As long as you're consistent with your moral choices, there's pretty much no way you'll need a third playthrough.

Gah, what the hell, now I have 3 territories that seem impossible to take over. 1 at the very top of The Warren, another right next to the bridge in The Historic District and one more in the middle of The Historic District.
Can't find package missions, and there are no characters with the big yellow marker on them either. >_<

Sony sent my PS3 and I just got my copy. OMG this game is so good so far.

I'm a little confused though about beginning.

Does Trish figure it out that you killed everyone and that's why she abandons you? Did that all happen in a split second with the whole the recognized him right after you help get them the food in my case?

The guy doing the pirate TV broadcasts aka "Voice of Survival" gets some security cam footage showing Cole with the package that explodes. That's what flips Trish out and turns the mob ugly

Yep, the big-screen image is hard to see.

Oh so I wasn't the only one.

I do not advise jumping into Prototype right after beating Infamous, I had to stop after like 15 mins

The next day I gave Prototype a whirl again and it is quite fun, if not mindless. But the fuck awesome story in Infamous has spoiled me and I'll need to playthough again as evil
is the ending different?

Shit. I accidently wounded a side mission giver. How do I unhurt him so I can do mission?

So I am assuming I need to get some ability first? That sucks though, I gotta remember were I wounded him until I get that ability now.

I'm sure he's going to respawn after some time.

Apparently, not evil enough.

playing evil. I've played to the last area and have about 3 missions to go before I wrap up evil cole. (already finished the good game).

comment. yeah...agree...

I'm actually thinking that the actual story really should diverge a lot more than it currently does in the story/mission structure... and play like real evil. It would have been nice if evil cole tried to team up with kessler instead of going against him ala the good game - I think so far the only instance of evilness is the sasha evil side quests because the main game doesn't stray at all from the main good game.

would have been nice for evil cole

once you get to infamous level, leech skill is instantenous so you can avoid the button mash

glowing red eyes? lol

Team up with Kessler? For what? Kessler isn't really evil anyway. His goal is just to test Cole and make him a stronger character. He doesn't give a shit if Cole is good or evil as long as he doesn't have emotional ties anymore, and is badass enough to kick the red beast's ass in the near future.

well, villian with villian... I dunno. um.... yes probably not very well constructed but at least change up the main story a bit.

well, at least diverge the story a bit more - while playing it, I didn't really understand how they underplayed evil cole... I mean, I didn't even want him to really give a shit about trish anymore. Well, this is a common complaint with the evil side game anyhow, you're never really evil.

think they could have changed the cut scenes a bit more than they did. Only thing that really jumped out at me in evil playthrough was the Trish dying and damning you. They could have changed some boss encounters (like you actually KILL Alden at the bridge) as well as having you team up with Sasha on the main mission levels, leading up to having the hot balloon gas level being one where you have to PROTECT them since they spray a gas that would get people to be controlled by you...

No that wouldn't make sense they obliviously want Alden to return sequel, hell he could be an ally.

What would be cool for inFAMOUS 2 is to have 2 "completely" different games, making you choose between an evil or a good campaign from the start. And maybe use inFAMOUS 1 saves.

He's not really evil anyway, just more pissed. Good Cole is like Spiderman, bad Cole is like...don't know, Hulk. Both are doing good stuff in the end.

We have a long time for that. First SP needs to make a whole new PS3 engine, make Sly 4, and then start working on inFamous 2. I except a long time until inFamous 2.

well, .... my
pissed off cole is running around killing people and leeching them for power so.... I'd say he was an evil SOB
;P

Just started playing this game today even though I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I like it, but it definitely has flaws, most of them being technical flaws (framerate all over the place, things popping into existence 10 feet in front of you, etc.). A couple of questions...

What powers would you recommend I build up first?

After the 2nd mission the game promoted me to hard difficulty. Is there any benefit to this (more experience or something)?

How do you know which side missions are good and which are evil? I'd imagine this is a dumb question but I can't figure it out and I ended up doing an evil side mission when I'm trying to go all the way good.

Playing hard just gets you the hard trophy I think, also Evil missions are in red and good missions are in blue.

For the powers the grenades and rockets are most useful, also reduce damage power is great as well.

I don't gie a shit about Sly. Make inFAMOUS 2, take same engine, iron out framerate issues/popin with the same geometry/texture quality, lock this shit @ 60FPS. Profit.

Hard difficulty actually gives less XP. Which makes sense.
Karma missions will have some 'splaining to complete them with a good or evil ranking and are clearly labeled as such (Karma icon on the top right corner, and the mission icon will be marked in blue or red on the map). As for regular, neutral side missions or story missions, your final ranking will depend on your actions (healing or killing people, etc). They only slightly change your karma bar (which can be easily balanced out) so no worries, it has no impact story-wise.

Most side missions are neutral (yellow). Good will show up as blue, evil will show up as red.

inFamous,
inFamous,
radioactive inFamous!

lightning bolts,
out his hands!
must have some,
special electric glands!
Loooooooooooook-ouuuuuuuut!
here comes the inFamous maaaaaaan!

Finally got to the daytime phase of Hobo Island Adventures. God damn, bleakness of the game was really getting to me. The comic cutscenes are so vibrant with colourful skies and ink splotch effects that the rest of the game feels like it fails visually and becomes a little monotonous, colour-wise at least.

I agree that there should've been way more 'evil' cutscenes. There was that
one after the first train mission and one after Trish dies and ofc the Ray sphere scene.
All the others were exactly the same with good Cole iirc. Well, something to improve for the sequel.

349/350 :(

Anyone have a gigawatt blades code they wanna Reaper Home costume code?

Not that I'd expect anyone to. It's pretty insulting they held back actual gameplay elements if you didn't buy them at a certain store. That's BS.

I felt that a bit, until I gained more power. The desaturated look really makes the powers pop, and the dead zones were perfectly executed; subtle, but it really felt like dangerous territory. I wish there had been more settings like the initial, foggy bit of the Historic District, though.

Seems this game gave alot of people their first platinum myself included :D

Having collectibles that actually affect your powers and the story helps quite a bit there. I'll never go for platinum, but I made sure to collect all dead drops.

3 shards left that I can't find. :(

Then there is the Casey Jones and the 50 Grenade trophy which is hard to get playing evil.

Then it's of to play the Good side knowing I'll have my first Platinum trophy. :D

I saw the code earlier and grabbed it...much to my surprise it was active.

It was for the gigawatts blade...it is gone now guys. Thanks mrbagdt!

Argh. Anyone else have a spare? If I would have known about this earlier, I would have traded my UC2 beta code for it. Still have a Reaper costume code...

God damn this game is awesome. I am having Crackdown addictions all over again with these shards.

Question about the side missions, I am playing good karma, and I noticed I can get a power to shoot multiple objects that will in turn zap anyone hiding near them or behind them. But to get this power, I need to complete 5 good missions. On my world map, I only see about 6 or so bad karma missions.. No good ones. Do they pop up later or something? Also, do the good karma missions take over the city and stop guys from respawning? I think I read earlier you dont want to do those until the end since you are basically cutting off your XP rate by doing it.

The missions should be there, it's just that for some reason they don't always show up on the map (my game used to only show me satellite uplink missions on the map, but other side missions I came across could be triggered just fine). Good missions are generally located close to Evil ones as well.

Doing the missions does take over the territory, but if you're not taking over too many other territories, you should be fine for XP. Farming random spawns isn't the most efficient method anyhow.

doing the satellite uplink missions makes more icons on the map permanently appear. If you're not seeing any good guy missions, you should after completing some of those

Yeah infamous will be my first platinum the way it looks. From now on going to get my platinums for games. I am not looking forward to finishing up my wipeout platinum though...

Is there no way to get the Gigawatt Blades on the EU/UK copy? Pretty shitty they did this tbh, with a platform exclusive no less.

You had to get the Special Edition inFamous.

I haven't bothered to put mine in yet. Keep forgetting about it. Is it any good?
