inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Dang, I was hoping I could replay the game from the beginning wreaking havoc with all my powers.

I'll definitely run through the game a couple times though. One for good, one for bad, and then another for the third harder setting.
 
Extra unlockable diff after finishing is good. Hard was a good challenge in the demo, but I could definitely appreciate a harder mode.

Just watchd the review on Gametrailers. And while it looks awesome, I haven't seen anything that really explains the high ratings it gets. From watching the review and another couple of vids, it looks like a really solid game, 8'ish, but not this high. Still, my PS3 will be back in 4 days, so I'll give the demo a try. Although I kinda hoped it was gonna suck, since I already have to buy Prototype and Red Faction :lol

The demo is tonz of fun that why the reviews are good. But do as i ,dont trust on reviews just play the demo.

It suffers a bit from the Killzone 2 syndrome - hype ratings and not much to back it up. It's a pretty good and fun game, but no 9 and DEFINITELY not a 10. Don't know what all those reviewers were smoking.

It#s very good game with some issues, it#s a good 8, and that#s about it. My summergame till ghostbusters arrives.

Hype ratings? uh no.

It reviewed well because it's a top game. Just like KZ2 is.

Incredible post. There was and still is barely any hype around Infamous, seriously. It's nothing like the hype juggernaut that was Killzone 2.

You SERIOUSLY need to restrain yourself from trolling this game.

You don't get it, man. He's only disappointed because the game pales in comparison to Ghostbusters, of all things.
 
What exactly is a top game? Seems like a subjective statement.

Crackdown is 83 on metacritic, but its a top game to me. Moreso than most of the games which have come out since then.

Yeah, fair enough. You formed that "top game" opinion because you have played the game and loved the shit out of it.

But someone who has only played the demo and was actually annoyed by the gameplay on the default difficulty setting proclaims the game to be deserving of the high review scores it has got so far because it is "a top game"?

It's really pathetic.

Or maybe, just maybe, it is indeed an excellent game. But thank you for enlighting all those people who absurdly thought that Killzone 2 was an excellent game -Again why did anyone have to mention KZ2 in an Infamous thread ?....

Yeah, you're right. But we can certainly argue over it. It's a forum after all.

However, the point here is, he hasn't played the full game. In fact, he was actually annoyed/worried enough about the demo to post about it on GAF!

I think we're all giving his post too much attention. Hell, he complained about the difficulty and was ignored to the point to quote himself. Everyone has there own taste/preference for what makes a good game. This game seems to have the makings of a damn enjoyable experience, which is more important to most of us here than some arbitrary "top game" billing, whatever that means.

Back OT, I have this on preorder from Amazon but I don't have Prime. Estimated ship date... July 1st. UGHHHHH.

It was a pretty fanboy-y response that the dude made. He's only played the demo, but yet is already calling it a top game along the ranks of KZ2 and worthy of the reviews.
The demo isn't enough to be able to make that claim (I'm nearly done with it, I would know). That's his point.

Mind you, I'm not saying the game isn't worthy of the reviews or praise.

He does not have the game yet and he certainly didn't enjoy the demo. Which part of my posts do you not understand?

Hell, I have the full game and I enjoyed it so much that I spent four to five hours this morning glued to my TV and skipped breakfast because I couldn't put down the controller. I think it's a good to great sandbox game that all PS3 owners should buy and play. I just don't think it's good enough to call it a "top game".

Someone makes a justifiable remark about the high review scores it's getting and how it isn't reflective of the game's quality, and of course we would have fanboys defending the reviews. That's fine, really, because I can see how some people would love this game to bits. But when someone who obviously hasn't played the full game and even posted a remark about being annoyed by the gameplay in the demo tries to defend the game by proclaiming it be "a top game", that's just ridiculous enough for me to respond and call him out.

The way Cole can use his powers to help locate hidden shards is great and it really helps in reducing the tedium normally associated with such collect-a-thons.

The side-missions are fun at first but I'm only about 50% through the first city and I'm getting really sick of them already. That's where the Assassin's Creed comparisons come in, I guess. There certainly is a wide variety of different side missions to do but none of them are terribly interesting and most of them are not very rewarding either.

Main missions so far are also pretty lame. The areas you go through are very repetitive and I have already encountered several laughably bad plot devices (tar in the face, you'll know what I mean when you get there). Zeke is also an annoying little bitch.

So far, I'd rate it a solid 8 to 8.5 and put it on par with Crackdown and just slightly above Assassin's Creed. If you like Crackdown and to a lesser extent, Assassin's Creed, you'll definitely like this game.

EDIT: I just thought I should add that the graphics are not as fantastic as some people make it out to be. Technically, AC is definitely superior and I'd even rate GTAIV over this. That's not to say that the graphics aren't good because they really are. But the jaggies are definitely there though a good thing is that I haven't really notice much, if any, slowdown.

Playing the demo led you to know.. that it wasn't enough for HIM to make that claim... riiiiggghhhtttt. You're being extremely silly, his opinion will always remain his. No matter how many times you play Killzone 2 or ICO, you'll never be able to tell me whether I can make a claim that's different from yours.. :lol

I'm not disagreeing on your general point though, if your assumption about his claim was true. Let's just wait for a couple more days for inFAMOUS to land in more of our laps, although those who've been playing it now are pretty happy with it..

Yeah, I played good. Just thought I should add that Cole's lightning powers are really fun to use though you can't go nuts with them if you're playing a good guy. It does make you a bit more careful when fighting the Reapers and in using the AOE powers.

Also, the game could have done a lot better in providing you with feedback in terms of the karma points (good or evil) you're getting. Twice now, I've ended missions where I got evil karma points (they tell you at the end of every mission) and I have absolutely no idea what I did to earn those. Most probably, I accidentally blew up or zapped some civilians while killing the bad guys. It's a little frustrating especially if you're pushing hard to reach the higher karma ranks to unlock the advanced powers.

I died a good dozen times just on the first mission. I think it's just from having a mission in the middle of the game be the first thing you play. After that, I got used to it. You can just soak up the electricity to heal from any electrical source nearby. I believe the demo's difficulty is set to Easy (least mine was when i checked the options), which is odd.

The game really needs a lock-on feature though, the radar is helpful, but with this much verticality it's difficult to pinpoint where everyone is.

US version leaked in the US and in Hong Kong/Asia sometime last week (or maybe even earlier). Some distributors in Asia, fearing that the US version leak would eat into the sales of the Asian version (because PS3 games are region-free and many game shops in Hong Kong/Asia parallel-imports their goods from the US), opened the floodgates and officially released the Asian version yesterday.
