inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Yeah, I played good. Just thought I should add that Cole's lightning powers are really fun to use though you can't go nuts with them if you're playing a good guy. It does make you a bit more careful when fighting the Reapers and in using the AOE powers.

Also, the game could have done a lot better in providing you with feedback in terms of the karma points (good or evil) you're getting. Twice now, I've ended missions where I got evil karma points (they tell you at the end of every mission) and I have absolutely no idea what I did to earn those. Most probably, I accidentally blew up or zapped some civilians while killing the bad guys. It's a little frustrating especially if you're pushing hard to reach the higher karma ranks to unlock the advanced powers.

doing some bad things will show red xp gain though after you do it which is nice (like executions and such)

Playing the demo led you to know.. that it wasn't enough for HIM to make that claim... riiiiggghhhtttt. You're being extremely silly, his opinion will always remain his. No matter how many times you play Killzone 2 or ICO, you'll never be able to tell me whether I can make a claim that's different from yours.. :lol

I'm not disagreeing on your general point though, if your assumption about his claim was true. It's a shithole territory to wade into though, and ElryionX whatever just overreacted and started pouting his shit mouth into the thread so i think we should all just calm down. At least ElryoinX whatever managed to derail the thread again.

Let's just wait for a couple more days for inFAMOUS to land in more of our laps, although those who've been playing it now are pretty happy with it..
I meant I'm nearly done with the full game. Sorry I didn't make that clear (although I thought it was obvious).

Played the demo already a few times, so much fun. And it also got great review scores. Man, this REALLY is another top game in the PS3 library. Can't wait for the full version.

Yeah but those are the obvious things that requires you to perform a specific action at a specific time. In those two missions where the game said I have become "slightly more evil" due to my actions during the mission, I had no red xp gain at all.

You're probably Zapping/blowing up civlians accidentally. It doesn't give you evil XP, but it negatively alters your karma.

Played the demo late last night, hoooolllllyyy shit is it awesome.

I truly was not expecting it to play this good. This is definitely going to be a part of my game collection in the next couple months.

So I was trying to finish a mission on the second island when
I saw a purple dot pop up on my map. I was grinding along the rails at the time, proceeding to the next area of multiple-part mission, and a purple marker popped up a little bit ahead of me. When I went down to check it out nothing was there, and it went away

Anyone know what that was for?

Its a GPS checkpoint that you can put on your map. Press X on the map to assign one.

In the 3 part vid, the 3rd part is hilarious when Chris jokes about a Rugrats game for DS :lol :lol :lol :lol . I know where he's coming from. People want to make games that they want to make, not licensed or shovelware like projects.

And you really have to tip your hat to these guys. The team looks really close and a place I would love to be. Awesome developers at Sucker Punch.

AND the mail the get has this cute drawing of a kid and his rendition of the sly gang. Cool that they have that stuff around on the walls.

As a general GAF wide rule, we need the AU date added to the OP, as it often differs from the EU one. :D

to the people with the game and who completed the game , is playing Evil better than good ?

I mean , in games like Fallout 3 or Mass Effect for examples playing as pure evil asshole is so much fun and better and even more rewarding than doing good character .

same thing here ?

Got my copy last night and ended up playing til the wee hours of the morning and then getting up to play some more. It's a fantastic game in alot of ways that have already been discussed and more importantly it's just plain fun.

I would definitely put it near the top of the PS3 exclusives and as a single player experience rate it higher than KZ2's if that gives you any perspective. I had to take a break to rest my eyes and hands abit but overall it's a blast! (haha!)

:p I have to work ~50 hours next week but I made sure they gave me Tuesday off. I can't wait to crank the hell out of this game.
No Memorial Day pay? I requested Tuesday off but have Wednesday and Friday off as well. Gonna be a fun 2 days off. I haven't been this genuinely excited to play a game since Uncharted.

Did you not read the whole post?
It was a pretty fanboy-y response that the dude made. He's only played the demo, but yet is already calling it a top game along the ranks of KZ2 and worthy of the reviews.
The demo isn't enough to be able to make that claim (I'm nearly done with it, I would know). That's his point.

Mind you, I'm not saying the game isn't worthy of the reviews or praise.
you got me. i think its awesome (ive only played the demo shh).

Nope, no holiday pay. I probably should get some but thats just how it works in food-service.

Just so you guys know this game is more fun than any open world game so far. The city is really well designed. The animation and design come together to make platforming and combat a LOT of fun.

I'm warming up to the game a bit now. I find it a lot better to play with the volume turned down. The voice work just doesn't do it for me and I find the ambient sound a bit lacking. The gameplay gets better and better as you aquire more powers - as expected.

I still prefer Crackdown though.

Playing evil is definitely more fun than playing good. Nothing wrong with the good side though, it's just that the evil side allows you to cause more mayhem and havoc. You even
have minions in some side missions
. :D

Nice editing in of Crackdown. Won't get a bite from me though. To each his own.

How do I disconnect the tar kegs?

Edit: I just noticed this isn't out yet. The rental stores around here seem to have it out though. If anyone knows this please PM me because I've been stuck for 20 minutes.

Demo mission? Climb up the ladder attached to the water tank thing, shoot down the thing on top of the tank.

does incidental karma loss from friendly fire make it a lot harder to max out your good abilities?

Guess what? Nobody cares.

if that were true you wouldn't respond.

just because they are 'opposed' exclusives doesn't mean two games of the same genre can't be compared

The dev diaries were awesome. I love watching stuff like this where you get to know the people behind the game.

You SERIOUSLY need to restrain yourself from trolling this game.

I like how saying a game is great, but not brilliant is called "trolling" on this board.

Well, what the hell. I have fun and I still recognize that inFamous is not Mario 64. If reviewers nowdays don't make this distinction anymore and the crowd likes it that way, more power to them.

I'd like if 9s and 10s were reserved for some "one in 5 years" type of games. But yeah, apparently I'm just a troll.

Tried out the demo today. It was really fun, not much to complain about. Zapping people was refreshing change from shooting guns. Will definitely pick this up and play it once I finish the 4ish games ahead of it in my backlog.

It is generally pretty obvious what the good and evil choices are, only on the mission before the first boss did I have to replay it because I was dense about the evil option.

I've almost hit inFamous level and I'm only about a third through the second island.

also depends on how you have fun, sometimes it seems more fun & skillful to be on the side of good and zap guys / blow them away carefully, and healing any citizens you accidentally knocked over with a stray car... :P

I'm getting ready to open up the third Island and going through as a Hero. The plan is to play through it again on Hard as a bad guy.

Same strategy I have.
It's great, cuz I already have the majority of trophies out of the way (Dead Drops, Shards, 100% all districts)... all I have to go for next run are the Evil ones and the Hard.
:D

Platinum #5 here I come!
