inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Saw inFamous for sale in the local video rental store.
649nok though, brutal. I'll wait until Friday and get it at 399 me thinks (elkjop).

they should have had trophies that told you when you got all the shards from specific islands like the dead drops i have no fucking idea if i got all of them from neon (playing evil)

So, once the game began I immediately switched it to hard(manually) does this mean I screwed up and won't be getting the trophy? Might as well go down to easy if I'm not going to be getting it :(

P.S. Posted this earlier but got no reply. Can someone help me out please.

the gigga-watt blades are surprisingly fun to use. they really should've been in the game by default. for people who did get them, when did you unlock them? I waited until the 2nd island

I was thinking the same, but today I was in town and checked out Platekompaniet and Gamestop - both sold out. At home I checked Elkjop.no and guess what - none of the stores around Oslo had it in stock... Hopefully they'll recieve more copies tomorrow.

Play shipped my copy today :)

Anyhow, just wanted to say that the tv ad is great and so are the 3 videos about Sucker Punch on gametrailers.

What a ridiculous question.
I don't know .. is Uncharted more fun than New Super Mario Bros? They both have platforming after all.
inFAMOUS is very very good.

Well they're both sandbox open world games, geez. It's not like they have NOTHING in common. And SR2 is a mess technically, but still tons of fun to play which is similar to what i've read regarding inFamous. Thanks for the opinion though, I guess.

Okay so I put the gamestop code in for the gigawatt blades. Is there a point I get to in the game where I can start to use them or what?

The pricing in Norway basically constitutes rape. I report each purchase of a game I don't get from my usual source to the police, claiming I have been violated.

no they are available as soon as you input the code. go into the powers menu its all the way on the right, starting one costs 600 points

A Rachel Maddow avatar? How lame. Can someone make me a Wolf Blitzer avatar lol. Take your spiel to another board. In case you haven't noticed, no one gives a fuck about Tom Chick or this little mission you are on.

WTF? This game is not a mess, it's beautiful and the frame rate is great. I have SR2, it's no contest, as the reviews have shown.

Zeke sucks. Moya is really well done though. Who is that voice? It's very familiar.

Kinda sounds like the voice of the chick from SOCOM, but I could be wrong, I'll pay closer attention when I play it later.

Saw the TV ad for the game though, it's not bad at all surprisingly. Also they changed up the end of it. No longer says Playstation 3. Just says only on PS3. Getting ready for that new hardware redesign I guess.

So, how is this game for someone who's on the fence about sandbox games. Seems I get burned everytime I play one... though I guess they've always been GTAs.....

Make sure you install the game first...unless you just missed them on the power screen.

The Sly Cooper games were good and all, but damn, this game is on a new level for them. I love when that happens with a developer!

This is more like an open world action game, I think you'll find it better paced if that's the aspect that's bugging you.

Yeah, the PS3 logo is in the instruction manual. As far as the game goes, there isn't much to be said other than how fun it is.

As far as the whole fence thing...I don't get it, the metal would conduct electricity, so why would you be able to shoot through it? Seems like it is behaving as it should to me. As far as being able to climb them, I guess that is a bit odd.

There are a fair share of bugs in this game. I've had audio, visual, AI and geometry issues. Of course, its an open world game, so I kind of expected it. It would still be nice for developers to get their act together. I'm tired of my console games having bugs this generation.

So is this like Crackdown at all? [superpowers aside]

I don't want to sour any of it's big fans, but this is like Crackdown Improved in my book. Maybe you're not getting the same sorts of powers, but it's a hell of a lot more fun and more cohesive. It lacks the whole co-op thing which is always nice, but it is a pure single player adventure.

Awesome. Just got back from work with the game, got Uncharted 2 MP voucher in the case (looks like Sony finally got smart, and used a printed code instead of the lame scratch off), already have gigawatt blade code, but didnt get an Uncharted 2 demo voucher.

I just like jumping around and doing cool looking stuff. :D

Can I get the gigawatt blade code if I just go buy it at gamestop, or did I need to pre-order?

Supposed to be pre-order, but it wouldnt hurt to ask. Probably still have a ton of em.

Speaking of which, are the blades really THAT powerful...you know, on a game breaking level?

Can anyone answer my question? I've been dying to know if I'll ge tthe trophy or not, no sense wasting my time on hard if I don't have to.

So, I just beat the game and now I'm trying to do all the stunts. Am I screwed on the 3 at once shockwave one?...I've done all the side missions already.

Fired it up for the first time today. I was kind of meh during the tutorial but once it turns you loose it gets pretty fun. Like many others have said I easily got distracted hunting down blast shards (dead drops, not so much) but even the missions are pretty cool. The only thing I've found frustrating so far is how jackasses with AK-47's and pistols and nail you with pinpoint accuracy from the top of a building several blocks away.

I also kind of wish the melee had a little more audio "umph" to it. Maybe my sound system sucks but there just doesn't seem to be any impact when you're beating a guy down, which is really noticeable considering their crazy reactions to being hit.

I don't think the magnetism (and it's definitely not "capricious," which implies there's an uneven sort of guesswork involved in determining when you're in range, which would make sense if it wasn't really easy to judge based on Cole's animations) makes the platforming trivial...it makes it possible. It would be near impossible to play out most of the late game scenarios without some form of Tomb Raider-style lock on.

Killing downed enemies instead of cuffing them (or just leaving them) nets you negative karma. But it's usually the civilians getting hit accidentally. lol

That's what I thought, thank you:D

Sometimes when I have 20 dudes running at me and the mission gives me a new objective I forget to cuff. Thank god my new grenades after the upgrade auto cuff em now!

The best thing inFAMOUS does (and what you'd expect from Sucker Punch) is inject a healthy bit of linearity into the game to give the overall quest some structure and purpose. The sewer parts are really great and classic Sly Cooper-style linear platforming, and SP's designers push you to do it by disabling electricity in the regions you discover-- that is, you're heavily disadvantaged if you don't follow what they want you to do at least for now After you turn on the power, you can do whatever you want for as long as you want.

Unlike something like Crackdown, the game's general mission design is inventive and varied. Unlike Assassin's Creed, the side missions are also pretty varied and fun, but like that game, they are very short-- another good thing. You talk to someone, you get the mission in one sentence or less ("HEY THE REAPERS ARE THERE GO KILL THEM") and you're off.

Some of the great side missions:
--Counter-surveillance
--Abduction
--Satellite Relay
--Street Fight

The side mission I hate is SPY GAMES, which is a GTA-style "trail the car" type mission. Truly horrible. I hate stealth gameplay.

I think I'm on the last mission. There is platforming in this game that is unbelievably awesome.

Before you go hunting for blast shards (and getting shot at by every Reaper within 50 miles), do the side mission in that area. Then you clear out the area. Then you can explore until your heart is content!

No, but they are neat. You won't miss them, though.

I hate this trend with pre-orders.
I have to agree. It's getting harder to figure out what you get from which retailer. Not only that, but it feels like the retailers are having trouble keeping it straight too. I have some issue every single time I pre-order now, whether it's the clerk not knowing, or them not having it, or they gave them all away....
Some stuff, I don't mind. I love apparel and game swag, so line that up all day, but when it's in-game stuff (which I always want) then I get annoyed.

I just got to the warren last night, after searching every inch of the first island. I took 1-2 mission, but already the action is picking up like crazy. The Dustmen Vs, Reapers mission was like a freaking war zone complete with [spoilers]robot scorpions lol[/spoiler]

You can have mine if you want it.

There was this one side mission where a reaper was on the floor so I accepted it and it showed a picture and treasure circled on that pic, I had to find the treasure. I didnt know if it was good or evil so I abandoned it but it disappeared...will it respawn eventually?

Man I wish Spiderman, and other openworld games in general made better missions like Infamous, it makes the game 10x better.

I think Y2Kev mentioned it early in the thread, but taking all the health upgrades in the beginning is sound advice and lessens some of the aggravation from the mega enemy snipers.

Anyone have advice on doing the 'take down a guy with melee while he is in air' stunt?

shockwave someone next to a wall and wait for them to come down against the wall if it at all possible i guess. i got mine once
the megawatt hammer was upgraded to reverse magnetism

I agree with your post, this part especially pisses me off in this game. It was mentioned on ListenUp but enemies that spawn out of nowhere that you cant see and hit you from across the town are really annoying.

So freaking annoying. Happend 3 times in the demo, still the game is awesome. Can't wait to pick up the full game on may 29th.

Well I 100%'d the first island, so now I can hunt for shards without getting shot at. Everyone should do the same!

+100...It wouldn't be so bad if your mark didn't have eye in the back of his head.

OH man the gameplay mechanic with the stick and the button combo is really creative in the first boss fight.

How do you travel back and forth between the island? I just got to The Warren, but I'd like to lockdown the rest of the Neon District first.
