Crackdown's controls were an exercise in frustration when it comes to moving around the world. I wouldn't call that 'tight', I'd call that pretty sloppy. Seeing the character make huge leaps while flailing his arms around the world only to sometimes grab on to the ledge you intend to is exactly what I'd call 'rough'.

InFAMOUS does it right. It's forgiving, but it allows you to navigate the environment with ease and with style, which is a heck of a lot more fun than the clunky platforming seen in a game like Crackdown.

At least in Crackdown, if I see ledge that I know I should be able to grab, the game will actually let me grab it.

In Infamous, there are many moments where I can't seem to grab ledges that I should be able to grab (the watery slums in Warran is a perfect example). The platform is more forgiving (and more fun because of that) but that also means the controls are a lot looser. You can't jump one or two feet away from a pipe because Cole will automatically grab onto that pipe that's one or two feet away.

If you spend an extensive amount of time shard-hunting, you'll know what I mean. To compare the controls and mechanics in this game to those in Miyamoto's games is laughable. The platforming is fun but it is nowhere near as tight or as polished as it can be.

His point is that the PS3 is awesome, Sony is awesome and hence since Infamous is a PS3-exclusive, it is automatically awesome as well and no one should say a single negative thing about the game because god forbid, the Sony fanboys might enjoy the game less as a result of your criticisms.

Because it's a complete different concept! And the Infamous one is much more complex...

The platforming is fun but it is nowhere near as tight or as polished as it can be.

I don't get your point. I think it's almost perfect in what it does.

No, my point is that we had way to many trolls in this thread, starting dumb discussions about the same shit over and over again.

Infamous is an awesome game because it's FUN. Also, imo, Sucker Punch is a great company, I already loved their sly games. I just wish this game was multiplattform so there would be no need for dumb postings like your last one. You, sir, are the king of stealth trolling, I guess.

Not everybody enjoys the same games. I would rate Assassin's Creed 7.5 to 8 but there are lots of people who would rate that game a lot less. Does it mean we can't have a discussion in the official thread about why people would rate the game low because of that?

Who are you to judge whether a discussion is "dumb" or not? Why don't you leave that up to the mods? The official threads are a platform for everybody to discuss the game and everything related to it. Just because someone does not share your view that Infamous is awesome doesn't mean they need to shut up about it in the official thread.

So, is it recommended to play on Hard or normal?

KZ2 on hard was...way too hard...especially at the end versus Radec.

Is this fairly enjoyable on hard and not too frustrating?

Normal gets frustrating at times because enemies are very accurate with their guns and you can only take so few shots before going down (even with the fully-upgraded damage reduction power) so I'd say Normal would be just right.

Nevermind, I just saw that you were the guy who started the stupid "top game" discussion (a new meme btw, thanks for this) and sorting out PS3 fanboys left and right. You are awesome. Keep on rolling, I gonna enjoy the show.

See this attitude is just as bad as trolling. Please stop being stupid.

Quick question relating to shards:

Can you get all 350 in a pure good run? A few missions ask you to kill a guy for a few more... Does that lower the cap, or do they appear elsewhere or anything?

I still haven't gone for a shard collectathon run, but I'll quote someone who did:

You stop getting new battery cores around the 300 mark, by the way.

...or, it could possible mean that i should replay Metroid Prime all over again.

Will this game finally disprove the 'Had it only been Sony exlusive it would have looked X times better' argument?

Hopefully.

Yes, I'm a graphics whore.

How do you even know how many shards you've collected? I can't seem to find a counter anywhere.

It only shows up after
you pass the 300 mark.

:lol Yeah, it could! But why replay old games when there are awesome new games to play?

Anyway, I can't answer your original question because I never did play the demo.

Check your save file ;)

It has:

- Reputation
- Completion %
- Powers and upgrades
- Districts controlled (out of 84)
- Dead drops (out of 32)
- Blasts shards (out of 350)
- Stunts (out of 21)

If the 1up podcast is to believed they used their PS2 'engine' for this game.

You could've been just as unconvincing if you had said this when Ferrari Challenge came out.

What it all boils down to is, how much effort does one want to put into the graphics? Practically speaking, a multiplatform developer isn't going to put as much effort into learning the hardware as a first party Sony developer is, especially when the strategy is to work towards visual parity rather than utilizing the specific strengths of the PS3.

Personally I think Uncharted/Killzone2 already nullifies that.

Not quite there with Uncharted yet, but Killzone 2 is definitely the best looking console game on a pure technical level. No contest. It's the exception, though. inFamous has its moments where it looks really good, I just hate the overall noisy look. Some AA would have done wonders.

So can anyone confirm that the retail versions do in fact include the Uncharted 2 MP beta? (and is it fun to play/worth it)
They do and how would we know when it's not on yet?

Mine was dispatched this morning! Should be here tomorrow, exciting! Along with Bionic Commando and Ferrari Challenge..excellent. I know which one has priority though :D

I will say I'm pretty bummed this isn't on 360. Besides MLB09 this will be my first actual game purchase for the PS3....I've had it since launch. About time.

Well done you.

I played as good and I'll say that the inhabitants start to get very needy! Calling for you to help people...if they don't leave me alone I WILL kill them!

Going to pick this up now. Won't get to play it for a while since I have errands to run and lawn work (sheeeeeeit!!!) to do.
