inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

i thought in the announcement for the UC2 beta it was said that every launch copy would of infamous would have access to the beta.

goddamit i'm super disappointed with my purchase already

Well I did complain about that and people blew it off that i should be grinding the rails and the lines between buildings.

The thing is when people start recommending that I use the railways then I encounter the issue of scaling up to the rail. I find myself often facing the pillar as you see it and I think it's a flawed design to have the railway be a means of transportation but then such a chore to scale it to get to it when everything else is scaleable. From a design standpoint, it seems bad to make a object that looks fairly big enough and the obvious point of climbing to not be climbable. Does that make the game suck, no, but it is irritating.

But man, to point it out, you get jumped on and people try to blow it off as if it doesn't exist.

You know normally critiques are fine, but your gripes are just plain stupid. OMG you can't climb on a couple things in the game, walk 5 fucking feet and find something else to get on.

You might enjoy the game more if you just played instead of taking pictures of things that bother you and instead spent the 3 seconds just going around.

Do you get mad because your front door isn't 2 feet closer to your driveway as well?

gaaaaahh.

Beat the game with all but one stunt completed - Right Back at Ya.

I can find a few dustmen who occasionally throw some grenades, but NPC's usually pelt them with rocks before they can do anything.

Do you realize how ridiculous these complaints are?

You complained that there's no quick way around the city, and when people point out the train rails, you start complaining that it's too difficult to climb up to them. Next you're going to tell us that your right hand is bandaged and you can't properly tap the X button, and you'll blame that on the game.

Didn't they give KZ2 a 5/5?

lol, yeah but that was a while ago. back in February man. It's almost June.

EDIT: I can't get the right back at ya one either. I've sent back so many rockets that look like they'll kill the person, but it usually just knocks em down, and when i do it the second time and they actually die, it never gives me the stunt. I don't think I'll ever get the stunt trophy.

Really its that it won't let him climb it in the way he wants, the game is performing just as it was designed to.

Basically hes screaming "accommodate me!" :lol

someone please tell me the full game is better than the demo! i'm just not feeling the demo at all.

and do all inFamous come with the Uncharted 2 demo?

So let me get this straight, you make the game fairly climbable, you design that sliding on the railway as a means of transportation, but I can't climb the structure to get up to the railway without jumping through some hoops? I don't think I'm trying to do something unusual or out or the realms of reason here. I just want to climb up the structure to get the rail without it being a chore. You're telling me it's unreasonable to want to climb up to the rail line?

Yay finally got the 'blast 3 off roof with shockwave' stunt. Thanks for Dark Water mission tip :). Now my new enemy is the deflect a grenade back at enemy stunt. :lol

No one can answer than definitively.

And no some people have not gotten the UC2 Demo.

Umm I got that many times in the demo. :p

I said I sucked at these things. I'm hella good at head shocks though.

But everytime I shockwave it won't crush them...should I only try these on the Reapers because it never works on transients.

Wow rather than address the issue, you'd rather put your head in the sand. So you're telling me it's reasonable that I can't scale that structure to get up to the rail line? That it's my fault for wanting to scale that to go up there and that it's not a design issue? That the game would be worse off if I could scale that? That it's unreasonable to want to scale that? Are you the jester in this thread? God I don't want to be making it like it's a huge flaw in the game or it somehow ruins it, but come on, why can't you just admit it's an issue and move on? I think the design of what you can scale to get to the rail lines is not very good and could be better given the amount of freedom they allow you to climb things in the world. Rather than admit it's a valid point, you'd rather drag this out into something silly like you are?

Here's the thing, the last pic you posted, YOU CAN CLIMB THAT, just go around the side. Really writing a paragraph to defend you're self every time doesn't make you look any smarter or your point more valid.

Its not an issue and technically you can scale it, you just have to do it in a way you (and believe me only you) obviously have an problem with.

But whatever, playing victim is amusing. This is the last time I'll bother responding though, I've fed into it enough.

Have fun with Infamous :D

Wait... can you collect all the blast shards without being evil on those side missions? You know the ones where you have the option of killing the guy to take more than you'd get by being good.

It's fun that it takes awhile to run from one location to another in the beginning?

You think Spiderman takes a fucking bus, or does he jump from building to building and swing his webby shit all over the joint? Think about it.

What level is your shockwave attack at? I think once you level it up it actually starts killing/incapping enemies on contact.

Sexy! Thanks brah, im going to upgrade that shit right now see if it works. Its only the default level right now.

But you can't scale the structure in the first picture I showed. That's the problem. You're telling me I'm unreasonable for wanting to climb that? It looks climbable. Also clearly someone else encountered the same problem too so he at least tried it and I'm not the only one. I'm not trying to play victim here but seriously you make one critique and you get attacked for it like it was invalid.

AFreak said:
I haven't been able to get the crush stunt either. All my shockwaves of cars never crush someone...argh.

A good alternative is to get the Reapers when they are in alleys. When they use a Dumpster for cover, you can hit it with a shock wave. It'll generally smash them into the wall and crush them, it's much easier than using a car :) I thought at least.

Man what a blast this game is. I've been playing a ton, got my infamous rank today w00t w00t. looking forward to a second playthrough so i can go good.

it's funny to look at my psn list, if someone is online, then they are playing infamous. last night i had about 8 or 9 people playing it on my list. I hope this sells really well, sucker punch did an awesome job with it. fantastic way to kick off the summer.

Man with obtuse complaint just won't give up. News at 11.

I just realized you can hit those power boxes and create new ledges to roof run with. :lol I love platforming in this game, it is so great.

I realize I need to be careful by playing good. Last two story missions I've hit neutral karma, so I don't think my meter has gone up!

Karma doesn't register for side missions correct?

Yes, you get the same amount either way as far as I know.

Spider-Man can swing from the beginning and is a lot of fun doing so; Cole can't rail slide for the first like 1/5th of the game. When you're not sliding, you're simply running along top of the buildings or on the streets. It's the same speed and in fact I dare say it can be slower on top of the buildings because there are often points where you jump and the distance to the next building is enough to just get to the side of the wall and then it's slower to have to climb vertical again before you can get forward progress. Crackdown at least made it so you could reasonably get from rooftop to rooftop where as I find buildings are often just far enough a part that you can't do that consistently. Now unless there is a jump upgrade, that's not going to go away soon. I hear here's a thrust + glide which sounds ilke it would address my concern but that depends on how far into the game you have to get it.

Someone take pictures so this goof leaves the thread.

It can on the side missions actually, I took out a bunch of civies on accident and not bad karma for one of the missions. Once I got my cuffing nades` I started hitting Good karma on almost all the missions since it does it for me now.

Just be carefull:D

Can't wait to play evil so I can just destroy EVERYTHING.

Same here, 7 people were on last night and all were playing Infamous(including me). I'm really thinking this might sell better than KZ2(doubtful, but it feels that way).

Same as what I did with Mr. Moran Hoe earlier in the thread. :D

I just hate the fact that the character sticks to everything. Trying to run away under fire, using jumps, isn't really an option since the character sticks to every single object on the way.

inFamous 2: Electric Katamari, anyone?

Jumping up onto buildings doesn't really "feel" like climbing the building, since spamming the jump button gets the job done.

Here's another problem I have, why can't I climb this?

It looks like it might be climbable from the side, but I'm not sure. It not, could just invoke the "fence rule". Can't climb some fences (barbed wires one I think?) in the game.

I don't remember this spot though but I'm flying all over the place to pay attention much. :lol

great game.

big complaint though: it lacks a sense of place. the city just isn't very memorable; i've been playing 5 or 6 hours now, and i rarely know where i am geographically. it's all just chasing dots on a gps.

This I will agree with, I wish there were more visible landmarks. Normally I'm not even looking at the city anymore, just grinding and using static thrusters to hit my next power line or railway track since there's not much to look at:lol

You know, thinking about it, you're kind of right. But I'm early in the game. Of course, none of the sandbox games were like this to me to tell the truth. Not even the GTAs (I'm in vast minority here). I can see what you mean though. Granted, when I'm destroying the place, I don't care. :D

I can't speak for the US release but in Canada my copy had this sticker:

so I just went through the first two parts of the city to look for all the shards, it seems as if I am missing two. I checked online and saw that there are 67 on the last part, can anyone confirm?

I agree to a certain degree; the first island doesn't have any cool landmarks other than the rotating globe statue, but the second island has much better structures that distinguish themselves; the prison (<3 the platforming there), the container area, the dock cranes, and the
Garbage Tower
. Much, much better. I'm curious as to how the third island is.

Still around a week until I can get my hands on this bay-beh.

Agreed 100%. It's possibly my biggest beef with the game outside of its technical issues. Everything just sort of blends together and there don't seem to be very many memorable landmarks.

I'm still on the first island, though. Aren't the other two supposed to have a somewhat different look?

They do, but I still wish the streets looked a little different, or hell they had found a way to leave some street signs intact or something:D

Garbage and wreckage tend to blend together when your hailing ass on power lines and static thrusting over buildings :D

Question: Are you still on the first island?

So far I have found the second island much more memorable than the first, the general construction dosen't feel like the same old city. Just my take though. What I mostly take away from the first island was all the lighted signs.
